What's really fun is when you've been in queue for the entire day, play for 20 mins and then get DC'd and have to wait in queue all over again because the disconnect grace period is also broken.

Is that new today? The grace period was working fine for me yesterday. I got kicked out while in the queue and while online and was able to get back in provided I re-logged within a few minutes..

I don't know about today, but I got DC'd yesterday and there was no grace period.

I don't understand the queue times for this. Did they reduce the server infrastructure since their peak subscriptions or something? I don't remember any expansion having queues this long and Ive played off and on since open beta 04.

I'm guessing its something with the garrisons fucking up the server load?

It is basically the perfect storm.

You have the Garrisons, which is new tech that is constantly hammering the servers as people have to come back to the garrisons to pickup/start new missions/orders. They should have really allowed you to do that without going to the garrisons, it would have heavily reduced server load.

Everyone that buys WoD gets a free 90 that drops directly into the expansion.

People are doing whatever they can to avoid the queue. In the past people would log off when they went to sleep, work, school, store and letting others in...that isn't happening. People are actively using stuff to avoid getting disconnecting, this is causing a spiral effect of more and more people doing this. Log on early, auto clicker, go to work, avoid Q.

Slight increase in sub's.

Im assuming warden can flag the autoclickers and nuke the accounts right? At least I hope, and pray, and sacrifice my panda cub for.

Honestly I have every single collectors edition, they should just let me in because reasons.

The main issue is people just aren't logging off. That's why the queues are so big and why they take so long.

The popular method to stay logged in and out of sight so people cant report you etc is just to jump into a low level dungeon and let mobs miss you all day. keeps you active. Likely find several hundred on most servers doing this.

Really they should just do rolling restarts every few hours. If your on and active you have as good a chance as every other active person of getting back on. If your an afk tool well your out

The easiest thing to do, I would think, is just attack a training dummy.

When/if I ever get back in, I don't know if I'm ever gonna get off. I'm gonna pull out a case of beer and grind it out. lol

I will give blizzard something. It's not as bad as MCC, but it's close!

I can't play either on a Saturday evening :(

One major difference though. Halo isn't a paid subscription service. This is no different than if you couldn't access your internet or cable to watch TV. It's equally unacceptable.

You don't have to go to your own Garrison to start new missions and collect on your old ones. There are tables at every outpost you establish.

Regardless of what they could've done to prevent this, I think it's time to bust out some compensation. A few days extra playtime for everyone.

Except you had to buy a console to play it, greeted with the day one 20GB patch, subscription to live, and broken multi player.

5 hours and still waiting to get in on KEL :\

1554 infront of me lol

[edit] Dang 1000 gone in 1 min now only 500 infront of me

WoW is probably different in how the software and servers interract. Cross realms, phasing, garrisons and so on. I remember a while back Blizzard said it's using some pretty advanced technology. Not sure about numbers as well but I'd bet WoD's launch day pulled in more numbers than Halo's online required.

Guys make sure you check your queues often. This is the third time now that I wasn't even close according to the number, but it randomly lets me in.

Haven't been able to play once. Always a 5K+ queue and after waiting for 4 hours I usually have to go do something. Blizzard must have regained 4 million subscriptions or something. None of the other expansions were nearly as bad.

Blizzard is doing something. I just jumped 1000 spaces at once

Perhaps this

And heres why the jump.

Least you can play.

Think we can agree too many people are getting screwed.

The funny thing is though blizzard gets compensated for their screw up. I know a few people who paid for a server transfer to avoid lag. I'll take it if it means I can play though. Next expansion I'm watching from the sidelines though. I'll just wait and see if I can play our not.

I'm hoping this period of intense queue sitting doesn't last too long, I recall a lot of waiting around at MOP's launch. I was hoping to sit down and obsess over this game over the weekend, but 4683 people are currently sitting in my way.

Why did Blizzard go for only one intro zone in this expansion? Multiple intro zones in WoTLK and Cata seemed like a great idea to reduce server load, it's kind of a bummer that we're all getting funneled through these crazy bottlenecks in WoD. I still haven't managed to best the phasing on gormaul tower, (I think that's what it was called) and the worst part of it all is that I didn't get an opportunity to log my character out in an inn before I was disconnected. Oh, all of the rested EXP I am missing out on right now.

Now I'm concerned.

I read the updates about the jumps, and now I'm worried I'll get in and get booted when I go to my Garrison or something and be in queue again.

Or it'll be ultra laggy.

126 minutes until I can get on Kel'Thuzad. I picked up my CE today and apparently have missed nothing by not playing on release, so that's always good.

While I'm waiting, I'd like to ask this: Is there anything special I should be doing for more EXP/faster leveling? I don't have a guild, my character is just a level 90 from MoP. Are there any experience buffs I'm missing anywhere?

I'm asking because I see some of my friends saying they're almost level 100. I played the game for a few hours on launch day, and getting through that entire introductory dark portal questline only gave me about half a level. Is there something they're doing that I'm not, or have they just quested their faces off? Do the EXP gains get bigger or something?

Not much to it, just do your quests and hit up every bonus objective you can find.

There's also a 20% xp boost potion you can buy from the garrison, but it's way too expensive and not worth it, I think.

Yeah Garrisons are prob a major factor, especially the way this game is tailored to have nothing except level 90+ content. Haven't played since Wrath? No biggie here's a level 90 go to your garrison after 40 mins!

All previous xpacs had something to that wasn't the previous top level and higher content.... TBC had Blood Elves and Draenei, Wrath had a whole new class in Death Knights as well as two different starting zones, Cata had an entirely reworked 1-60 zones, two new races, two starting areas. Mists had a brand new class and a new race even though it went back to a single starting area.

WOD is everything is level 90, everything is garrisons!

But it has been a fantastic expansion if you can actually log on outside of making your garrison on day 1.... music so good, garrison so addictive...

Bonus objectives are pretty big for xp... but the main key to getting to level 100 as of now.. is actually being able to log in.

Leveling in WOD seems so much quicker than every other expansion....it's like they already did the 1 year later xp nerf tuning...

apparently u can get an elixir that gives more xp gain from your garrison.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll get an energy drink and just glue my face to the computer once my queue pops. Hoping to hit that 100 as soon as possible.

The xp boost potion is really devious on blizzards behalf. Its very tempting but quite honestly early on it will kill your progression as far as the garrison goes. Buildings start getting costly and if your pissing away 100 resources every hour or so on a potion you are doomed.

I saw some people on streams doing it for their ultra fast grind. Their reasoning was to just do it and grind more resources later. It'd probably only cut 4-5 hours out though? Getting to 90 is the long part. Hours of resource grinding would surely suck more than extra quests spread out in all the zones.

MORE THEN 5 HOURS OF WAITING AND I GET ON THIS POPS UP
