Still undecided whether I should get this, which is probably a good thing because those queue times sound horrendous

Gonna hold off at least a week or so.

The sound and music guys deserve a medal, they've done a brilliant job. You can actually tell Blizz has money in that regard, no other mmo has that sort of production values.

The queue just becomes so impractical after about an hour or so - who knows what's happening in your day hours from now? And will you be online exactly when you finally get in? It's not like it's just an X number of hours to wait - it's that you need to wait roughly that long and then hope that you'll be around during a 10-15 min window when you get in to actually log in or risk getting disconnected again. Worst.

I considered doing the low level instance trick to stay logged in (after successfully doing it once to ensure I woildnt be dc'd during an hour long break from the game where I had to step out for a meeting), but I won't do it again. Feels unethical at this point, especially if I know I'll be gone for more than an hour.

It really sucks that the DC time is as low as 20 mins though. Like, fuck.

Any reason to keep the barracks at the garrison?

The war mill gets you better gear while levelling and better raid odds while doing that stuff (i'm only level 2 so not sure if you get an extra large plot at level 3?)

Nod. I know it's silly but the whole ordeal is demoralizing to the point where it is truly killing the expansion for me. This will be the 3rd full day that I do not get to play because I do not have the ability to log on before 5pm. Each day I come home from other things that I have to take care of to sit in queue for 7-9 hours. Play for maybe 1-2 hours, crash cause I'm tired as shit, wake up early to take care of RL stuff.

AFK/Botters are probably a small amount of the actual problem. I would wager on Stormrage it is roughly 5-10%. So like 500 people, but that is still 500 people that really shouldn't be allowed to do what they are doing.

Gonna hold off at least a week or so.

I'll do what I did with Pandaria and hold off a year, then experience most everything it has to offer in a one or two month subscription when no one is clogging up all the quest givers.

Got my main to 100 on Mal'Ganis ... Can't play on there of course.

Been playing my ally pally on Dalvengyr until everything is sorted out, and man, Shadowmoon is absolutely beautiful. Medium pop is wonderful, too.

Heroics are pretty damn fun. Pugs will fail a lot on certain bosses (and trash).

Really enjoying this so far, art, music, garrison, so good.

Got to lvl 100. Kept on teleporting back to base in Ashran, finally was able to stay in. Computer dies with too many people around. I'm not a big PvPer, is there a big point to be in there if I'm not a PvPer?

Also should I head to Tanaan Jungle/dungeon for gear?

Finally got to 100 with my paladin, Prot the whole way up just like I did in the beta. Only difference I felt were that some mobs were better tuned, xp gains were about the same, but my self healing did take a hit. Normal instances got their difficulty dropped down a lot as well.

Garrison stuff needs a lot more instructions for people. If I had not done it before I would feel lost with so much stuff there to do.

The full version of Tanaan Jungle isn't in the game yet. You only see it in the intro to WoD.

The no mount flight is really great. It makes you explore, and take in the scenery like in the old day.
With flight, BC and onwards were just a blur. I was flying to Point A+B, and the game became automatic because I would only land for quests, and skipped the world because it wasn't efficient to explore and enjoy the birdeye view.

I'm looking for a kind EU Alliance player that could invite me from a low populated realm . I'm lvl 98 right now. Thank you in advance :)

My battle-tag: henning#2860

Hit 100. Didnt have time to do any dungeons.

Item level is like 598 and I'm still mostly in my raid epics. I'm finally replacing some gear in nagrand, so ill have to finish out the quests there.

It's getting frustrating seeing people talking about getting to the upper levels, specifically 100. Argh, curse servers! I would have been maxed by now! I had the time and the willingness to do it; the only reason I'm not running heroic dungeons right now is the fact that I had to wait 9 hours to log in today. (Area 52)

Being restricted from playing the game I was so excited for as I watch others lap me on the level scale is putting a stormcloud over the 'wonder' of a new expansion. My favorite part of the X-pack launch cycle is getting into that awesome groove where you bunker down in a basement with some snacks and a lot of dedication to power through all of the new content, those marathon sessions on launch night/launch weekend are the best moments WoW has to offer. The bonus of getting to collect all of that early gear in dungeons with the other folks who rushed through everything is so satisfying too. Now I'm seeing my friends hitting 96 and 97 and I'm desperately trying to claw past 93.

I entered the queue the moment I woke up today, and by the time it popped I was almost ready to go to bed. The only way I can play this expansion I've been super excited about for so long is if I physically punish myself by screwing up my sleep schedule. That's a lousy situation to be stuck in; imagine a hardcore football fan learning that everyone else gets to watch the superbowl 9 hours before him, and that he has to pull an all-nighter if he wants to see the game.

Hopefully this gets solved soon, my patience went from "I can handle queues, I've done them before!" to "Aaaaagggh!" over the span of one long, frustrating day.

The biggest bummer of it all is that I'll never have that "Friday night! Time to murder this new continent!" moment with WoD. If the queue is this bad tomorrow, I will do a bulk of my leveling on workdays. Blah!

I ended up spending most of the afternoon doing normal dungeons and already I will say even on normal I am enjoying them. Which probably doesn't sound like much, but, I've hated probably the majority of dungeon experiences in the game since TBC so I find myself taken by surprise. Of course this is pretty early so I don't know how easy they will be when everyone in our group has full blue gear (and I have no idea where heroics will be in terms of difficulty) but through the day playing with people all around 600-610 ilvl the difficulty of normal felt good, on most bosses it was pretty easy to wipe if people just tried to zerg bosses and ignore mechanics.

That said I haven't actually done very many of the dungeons yet really, I didn't do any while leveling up so it's just been the level 100 normal mode stuff. But I think that is another thing that has made me enjoy myself, the dungeons have all felt pretty different so far. Grimrail was short and cinematic, Everbloom while linear feels a bit freeing because it is designed similar to something like Firelands where trash is just fucking everywhere and you have to make your own path through trying to skip as much of it as you can, and Burial Grounds was the fairly standard linear dungeon design but executed well. I think UBRS is probably the weakest dungeon overall but that's because it's just a redesign. The last 2 bosses are still really cool.

Just a heads up for anyone that are beginning the legendary quests. In order to get the right version of the ring that you want, you need to set your loot specialization to match the spec you want the ring to be designed for, almost got the dps version instead of tanking version myself.

Without changing your talent spec before looting the item or starting the quest, how do you change your desired loot spec?

I am kinda liking the different "feel" of mobs in this game. In every expansion since BC it felt like every enemy just did the same shit and had HP that only relied on level. In Draenor I don't know, somehow the big stuff feels big in terms of time to kill and attack patterns, and all the mobs feel pretty distinct. Anyone agree?

Yes. They've done a much better job with the solo mobs in this expansion.

Well, most of them simply come down to "move out of the way while they cast their special directional attack".

I mean you can reduce anything to those kind of terms if you want to. Anyway I think it's cool that the big Gronn have like 90k HP and attack with huge directional slams, while the forest guardians have 21k and shoot fast needle spells at you, but both are level 93 mobs, for example. Better mob "personalities" than any previous expansion.

I think it has more to do with the occurrence of "more" larger mini boss and rare mobs out in the world so you aren't just killing grunts the whole time. The game makes you feel a little bit more accomplished by being able to take on perceivably stronger mobs and their jobbing makes you feel not as terrible while leveling. Being the "commander" of all the forces in draenor is also a nice feeling since everyone is subservient to you and you're not just "another hero"

In regards to the Q stuff -- it really sucks that a lot of people are getting locked out still. The realm Im on had a large exodus recently so we weren't bit as hard by it and now we log in without any q -- at least all day Saturday it was like that. I hear that there's 5k+ people trying to get in on the larger servers like tich, and I don't envy that in the slightest.

The /r/wow subreddit was taken down because the main mod could not login to the game. It is now back up apparently because he could finally login.

Lol what a whiny little shit

Yeah, that is not why they turned /r/WoW into private for little while. Mods made detailed and well reasoned post about this before it went private for little while.

It was because sub-reddit got filled only with trash posts about game not working. Moderators had to basically turn moderating into full time job so sub wouldn't be filled with content that was against rules of said sub.

So because sub was turning into pure shitfest they decided to private it until WoW is working again at acceptable level [read: no more shitfest troll posts]. As of now /r/WoW is back up and open for business.

How Will the system for extra coin rolls be this expansion? Do you still turn in a quest for 3 coins that is able to be saved and stack up, or do you get only 3 per week automatically? And if there's a quest where do you get it?

I totally agree with you. I thought the music was very good.

Honestly, I was not expecting the content of WoD to be this good. I know a lot of people are having difficulty with server queues, but once this rush does down, you guys are really in for a treat. The zones have so much detail and character, I'm very impressed with the design of this xpac.

The garrison has added so much to the game for me as well, I am very surprised as to how much fun it is and how seamlessly it has been sewn into the game.

Just changed my sub to every 6 months after seeing how good this content is.

I hope the frustrated people will just hang on a bit longer and wait for the rush to die down because this xpac has been tons of fun.

honestly, the queues are the sign of a bigger problem..

on my original server (bloodhoof) once the DDOS stopped and they raised population limits things were fine. Yet on Bleeding Hollow, where my previous main is and we transferred to from a dying low pop server, queues are around 800-1000.

But that middle part there is key.. we transferred, because our realm was dying. it was no longer fun to play on. CRZ ruined the benefits of a low pop realm (rare hunting, small scale pop, etc), while we still had all of the negatives (auction house primarily). Many other people in this same situation did what we did and probably swung too far in the other direction. "my dead realm sucks.. let's go to a realm that will NEVER be dead"

Now blizz combined AHes to address that problem.. but IMHO they answer is even more simple. Just take the highest population servers, and permanently allow free transfers off of them. Choose a new medium population server every week (or month) and allow free transfers to it from a high pop server. Take the strain off of those full servers.

And as a cautionary tale to those on dead low pop servers.. when paying for a transfer.. don't look for the super high pop servers to transfer to. We've seen people already say in this thread that many of the biggest servers have seen queues during new content patches, leading up to xpacs, etc. I get the drive to get off of a dying server (especially AH prices). But I totally regret going to bleeding hollow. In retrospect, a nice middle of the road medium pop server would have been so much smarter..

anywho, I paid for my old/new main to transfer back to my original server.. so my old main will eventually have to transfer off of bleeding hollow.. I'm on a medium pop server, and as of yesterday haven't had any queue, while still having very decent AH prices.

I feel bad about posting this stuff when lots of people are having login/latency problems but Blizzard really outdid themselves with this expansion. Quest chain finales are already excellent and I haven't even left Shadowmoon Valley. Lots of voiced dialogue, lots of in-engine cutscenes. There's even a lot of pre-rendered cutscenes with in-game models and even those are significantly better than in previous expansions.

Talador is an amazing zone, and dat music. So good. I'm like 96 1/2. I must say you get heaps of experience with garrisons and bonus objectives in a zone. I'm dinging like crazy.

The sticky had a threat that people could post whatever they wanted the mods gave up and if the mod couldn't login in 24 hours it would go private. They went through with it. Then he proceeded to tweet a Blizzard CS rep it would be public once he could login to the game. All in all hilarious.

Anyone on Alleria? How are queues?

I'm ready to get back in but waiting for that initial rush/bugs to get worked out. I don't mind waiting a few weeks, so many games coming out...

We are on Alleria and it's been fine queue wise after the initial rush on Thursday and Friday. No problems logging in yesterday when all my kiljaeden friends were stuck waiting for eons.
