I hope whoever came up with the daily apexis mission Assault on Lost Veil Anzu get's a swift kick in the groin. Who thought that was an interesting mission?

I finally got to play a bunch yesterday, got to 95...it's fantastic. From what I've played so far I think it's the best expansion they've released by a significant margin. We'll see how that holds up moving forward. I love the Timeless Isle-style stuff they put in. Haven't done a ton with the Garrison stuff outside of sending the followers on missions. I'm not as crazy about that content as I am the rest.

Truly a shame the launch has been and continues to be botched by the connection issues/queues. It kind of diminishes how good the actual content is once you are in and playing it and that is unfortunate.

Yup agreed.

Question about the Garrison... I've already built the Inn but I'm in hearing everyone say that a Lumber Mill is almost required for resources. Is it in my best interest to ditch the Inn for now and get the LM until most of my base is built?

Hit 100 yesterday. This is a great expansion in terms of questing. My advice to anyone leveling up: go to Nagrand as soon as you get a quest to do so. I wish I would have of gone there earlier as it seems to be much faster. Played (and won) 3 BG's and got 3 Warlords Season 1 items (pvp trinket, boots, belt) from the chest you get, but will probably try to get into Ashran tonight.

the worst part is that it seems to be the only thing you can do alone on the endgame? no other daily quests? no reputation farming?

please tell me I am wrong, daily quests and rep farming are certainly not great, but far better than the assault missions, I wont do a single one of them.

All these 100s....

What is your /played in hours from 90 to 100?

I've spent 7 hours ingame since release and dinged 92 yesterday, seems baffling to me so many people are already 100.

I'm with you, between server issues and my schedule I've gotten in about 7 hours on my Druid and just hit 92. Been following the questlines in SMV and did 1 dungeon.

I'm just under 97 and so far I've noticed about 2-2.5 hrs per level on my end.

How's the dungeon difficulty for leveling? I'd like to do the Slag Mines and Iron Docks but I don't want to commit more than an hour to either.

Just got to Gorgrond and dinged 93. I hope they don't add flying. The sense of scale in the game really diminishes when you can fly. Frostfire Ridge feels gigantic right now.

Slag Mines are better for leveling, I suppose. Iron Docks has a whole bunch of no-value mobs that yield like 12xp per pop.

But questing, garrison and tradeskills get you higher a lot faster.

slag mines felt like it took 20 mins...

They don't take that long, but they currently aren't really worth it for the experience either.

I've played about 14 hours and I'm 97, about to hit 98. I've spent a lot of time on side stuff, my garrison, and getting artifacts.

Weird, maybe my sense of time is wrong and I spent less time ingame than I think, or I'm just a snail....

7 hours to 92 seems a little slow. I spent a little more than that yesterday and went from 91-95, and that was with a lot of time spent exploring/treasure hunting/rare hunting/garrison-ing. I wouldn't worry about it though (not that you are) it's about having fun and enjoying the ride so time taken shouldn't matter too much.

Maybe class plays a part too. Playing Blood DK questing goes incredibly fast given the number of mobs I can pull at once and come out at full health, especially when there are few other people in that specific area.

So the Inn is the best medium building imo. Originally I had the barn because I'm LW but I like the quests and the followers you can recruit.

I'm only 96 with about 10+ hours but I've been taking my time, exploring, fishing, doing all quests I find etc

7 hours seems a bit much, you're probably estimating a bit high or spent a lot of time doing stuff other than questing. It "only" took ~4 hours to get from 90-92 on Stormrage on launch day even with the stupid trees/ravens/etc. quests.

Leveling does get faster after SMV though; Gorgrond especially was amazing for exp.

Lemme put it this way: you need 2000 supplies for your level 3 town hall.

you can get >1000 resources by finding all the garrison resource treasures and boulder/shredder objects in gorgrond and spires of arak. I was at ~1100 resources when I hit 100 and was able to run around getting these treasures and build my L3 garrison in about 2-3 hours.

That said, Lumber Mill is super easy to fill orders for and makes upgrading your garrison a lot easier. Also, don't do what I did and upgrade a large building to L2 before you hit 100 and realize you threw 900 resources down the drain.

I think they've said they're adding flying with 6.1 which honestly is the best way to do it. Let everyone jump in, experience the world, level up to 100, and have all the fun the way blizz wants them to, then after a couple months or something open up flying and let people fly around however they want. It's always seemed obvious that flying was always a pandora's box that they opened in TBC that they've never known how to close, and I think flying with 6.1 is a great compromise.

I am really, really enjoying this expansion - probably more than the last time we went through the Dark Portal. There's something to be said for the new storytelling techniques and the way the zones are laid out. The garrison stuff is cool, too.

If they are similar to the normal modes at L100, then they are pretty fast. I don't think I have spent more than 30m in any one dungeon, most of them are over in ~20.

Also, I have heard from a lot of people that the exp from dungeons is terrible.

So what in the world am i supposed to do with my garrison?

I have my first recipe for an upgrade, but have no idea what i should focus on.

I'm enchanting/tailoring and have both of the level 1 buildings for that. Would it be smart to upgrade one of them?

fishing dailies suck.. is there anything good in the new bag?

mine level 2 is really slick... I think I got like 7-8 work orders out of it (my mine is the only mining I have in the game)

10 hour quests seem REALLY broken. The 95 level one I sent out this morning was 1600xp with bonus.. the problem is I can make that much on all of those characters just running two quests. So it's like an 80% loss for time benefit.. Even on the worst f2p crap it's better than that. It's actually not even worth it (not sure why I sent them out). I mean it's one thing if/when it's a rare item.. but ones with just bonus xp are a HORRIBLE proposition and just there (seemingly) to waste slots on your available missions tab.

Really enjoying this. I haven't played since the early days of Cataclysm but I bought this because of the 90 boost and nice impressions.

I had a hard time deciding which class to boost but I went with my rogue. It was between that and my paladin. There have been a ton of changes since I last played so it's information overload right now.

I even started a Pandaren Monk and I'm finding that pretty fun too. The Pandaren zones are gorgeous.

I figure the 10hr quests are just there for you to hit when you're about to call it for the night. I mean I hit a 10 hr quest last night when I was wrapped up, and now I'm going to be at work all day, so if I can get back in tonight it'll be all set for me and have a lot more benefits than the 30min dealies. It's not meant to be 10x better, it's just...a session finisher, so to speak.

The fishing dailies are pretty easy if you have the gear/consumables for it. You only need 950 skill to push everything but Enormous fish off the loot table, so it only takes around 2 minutes to get the fish you need. I haven't found anything new other than the fish bait though.

They really really need to nerf the mine and herb garden. You can fill 6-7 work orders on a L2 mine and 5 orders on a L2 garden everyday. At L3 the garden should be able to fill 6+ as well. It's silly that you can max out work orders without mining/herbalism. And that's not even considering the amount of materials you get from them.

So, I'm up to level 95, and I have yet to see a single quest to go to any dungeon. What gives? Did they just do away with dungeon quests? Those used to be the big bad zone ending quests.

Level 99 1/2, time to go to class. Stormrage has no queues in the morning, primetime its like 5k still :(. I'd say it's taken me like 15-20 hours to get to 100. Sometimes I'd run into bugs (couldn't hearth to arrak from garrison, or FP, had to walk there)/lag or spend time working on my garrison (I think it's better to work on your garrison in the long run then rush to 100).

Fury is really losing a lot of steam, debating whether to go Gladiator stance (no IV guides up for it yet, don't know the stat priority/ideal talents) or Arms. People have had positive things to say about gladiator and it does the most damage, plus I already have a heirloom one hander on my warrior. I guess I'll wait and see what kind of loot I get from dungeons.

Also, now that people on Stormrage have caught on, I guess I'll mention that Fishing has been an insane money maker the past few days. In case your server has not noticed yet, I highly recommend looking into it. At 950 skill you only catch Enormous fish, social fish, bait and lures. You can get a stack of 200 fish in ~20 min and those were going for 4-5k per stack.

There are only a few quests as part of the main storylines that send you to a dungeon, I got the main achievement for every zone and only have 2 dungeon quests. The big bad zone ending quests this time around are all scenarios (and they are freaking awesome.)

World Server is down like half the time I try to leave my garrison -_-

AMAZING expansion, so much better than Mists.

I only need to finish off 3 more heroic dungeons and then I'll have done them all. Heroics this time around are a little on the easy side (or I think so anyway). The gear provides just the right amount of challenge between...say...a Cataclysm early heroic and a Wrath early heroic.

Now to wait for raids. :(

Boosted to a lvl 90 mage after years of being away, and holy shit at all these hotkeys!

The normal rotation isn't difficult(went arcane), but there are so many situational skills that I am still wrapping my head around and regularly forget to use in the heat of a tough fight. I need like ten fingers and find my eyes gazing at the hotbar sussing out icons more than focused on the fight.

Any tips for organization or layout? Add-ons that may be useful? Macros I should give a try? Just am overwhelmed right now.

I think by the time I get to 100 this will be the best expansion I've played since BC

WoD = BC > WOTLK >>>>>>>>>> CAT > MoP

The last two are horrible to quest in, especially cata. I don't even bother anymore

I dunno, the questing was quite improved in both Panda and Cata, in that the narrative strand was tailored with a directed throughline compared to the meandering of the old games.

Panda just went a bit overboard with its own lore, focusing too heavily on Sha corruption and a pointless bug war, only getting interesting when Grommash returns in a late patch to bridge the core Warcraft universe back in. Panda has some really good stuff in it though. Cata was a bit too streamlined and Deathwing felt a bit underutilized, but it was novel to re-experience the vanilla content again, though it felt less expansive and freeform than before with the focused direction.

Hard to argue that Draenor does a better job getting back to the popular theme and trappings of classic Warcraft comparatively though. Zones feel packed with distractions pulling you in different directions while maintaining a core thread quite well. A definite improvement.

Finally got into a dungeon Skyreach, to finish off the Spires quests. Did every last one in the zone. In fact I've completed every quest thus far. Got two nice pieces of gear, helm and gloves. It was really easy. This goblin rocket launcher (does 54k at lvl 97) is a great tool to finish off bosses down the stretch. Of course playing ret pally is easy. My big hit just keeps coming up. The healer said I topped the DPS charts by like 20%, and the rogue said she was iLevel 600+ while I'm 580-ish.

Did they boost experience gains for lower levels with this expansion? Trying to decide what class to use my level 90 boost on. I have a nearly full set of heirloom cloth caster gear and I hear you can get 20% XP potions at the garrison. I've got a couple other characters in the low to mid 80s, so they are out, but what about, say, a level 60, 45, or 30 character? What would the time difference be from boosting a 30 as opposed to boosting a 1?

It takes like 15 minutes to get to 30 now

Boost whatever character you'd want to play regardless of their current level I'd say. Going from 1-90 on a character you won't like is wasteful

Also if it helps, anyone over 60 gets their tradeskills boosted too

I think I have a good set up. My trade post is level 2, and the work orders give me decent garrison supplies - about 30 at a time. My engeering works is also level 2, and I have Kimzee the goblin working it. So I can buy an item off her that is slightly more than 1 gold and it creates a lazy robot butler that provides bank access. So I don't have to fly or port around for that, I just use these. My mine is level 2 and feeds the engineering works, and the herb garden often feeds the trade post - otherwise he asks for furs or ores, both of which I get quickly.

I'd like a lumber mill, but I think that as an engineer this is the next best option for me.

Haven't finished nagrand yet, but story wise this is the best expansion for me.

Storywise WoD>>>>>>WOTLK>>> TBC > Pandaria >>>>>>>>>>Cataclysm

About the same ranking for aesthetics, though Pandaria is obviously heavily east Asian influence while WOTLK is Nordic, I'd switch around TBC and WOTLK for aesthetics. I just like the heavy fantasy settings, things like different planes/alien planets interest me more than real life influences.

I agree. Best narrative so far. I just got to Nagrand and already it's awesome. Gorgeous really, and I love the open layout. I found Washburn from Goldshire! I laughed. So many old faces. I also got an achievement for completing 3,000 quests. I've been playing this game over the years for a long time.

Not a big deal really either, since you can get quests/build garrison buildings that easily boost professions to 700 in Draenor with certain recipes to grind levels up. You start at level 1(or whatever your hero was at pre-boost), but at least can start making high-level stuff right away with mats instead of grinding old recipes. A boosted character above 60 gets pushed immediately to 600 in whatever professions you had equipped which mitigates the grind a bit, but so far has seemed meaningless.

Otherwise, all characters get free i483 gear, 22-slot bags, and whatnot regardless of level when boosted.

Definitely not wise to boost if you are 80+ though, leveling is accelerated in old content so a few hours of questing in old zones will get you to 90 fast. (I went from 85-90 in the first zone alone of Pandaria last week in a single play session)

I think this is my favorite expansion since TBC as well, but my order would look something like this:

WoD=BC > MoP > WotLK >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Cat

I thought MoP was excellent, it just didn't have the same Warcraft feel which turned a lot of people off. I also think LK was highly overrated. About halfway through the leveling experience all the zones turn to shit. That expansion is also why I'm glad there is no flying in WoD., and hope there will never be. We don't have to deal with the developers showing off with ridiculously high mountains and valleys that necessitated flight and making ground travel a needlessly painful experience.
