World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor | Launch Thread

I know I'll be making use of all my characters for the garrisons. I like how they give you more stuff to do, which is why I think garrisons are my favorite thing about the expansion.

GAF, I've played WoW off and on since launch. While I've liked a few of the zone/city songs over the years, Warlords' soundtrack is incredible. That garrison theme is so so sosososo good.
There's this alliance inn in Arak that has some very Karazhan style music. I nostalgia'd so hard.

Wow, I woke up a couple of hours ago and not only were servers up early, there was no queue. Good saturday!

Also can we talk about how awesome the in-game cutscenes are? The model revamp has let them really get cinematic quality out of them now that the faces are so emotive and sync to dialogue. The end of Frostfire and Shatt quests especially are terrific and made me really like Ganar and Yrel respectively, and I can't fucking wait to wreck Blackhand's shit.

Shattered Hand has been great, performance-wise. I expected a lot worse but I haven't had anything but occasional lag since launch night.

I'm really impressed with this expansion. My only complaint is that I can no longer fly around and mine/herb with my druid gatherer. I found that pretty relaxing! But maybe the quest/taxi improvements required by the lack of flying mounts will make up for it.

edit: Also, it's disappointing that my flying mounts will no longer appear when I use the Random Favorite Mount function if a ground mount has been selected as one of my favorite mounts.

Been in queue for an hour already this morn...would have been worse had i waited until the originally forecasted 9am PST...enjoying the garrisons when I'm not in queue, wish they would offer free realm xfers though, sure it won't happen.

I've finally been able to login since the release, only to find out that Khadgar won't even speak to me.
Am I missing something? Isn't he supposed to start your way into Draenor?

And I've triple checked, my account management page does say Warlords of Draenor, and during character selection I got the option to boost a character to 90.

This is even more of a dissapointment than waiting in the queue the past days.

On the other hand, Ragnaros-EU doesn't seem to lag.....in Azeroth.

edit: after a few hours, it seems my character finally got the switch to allow WoD content.

I haven't played since WoTLK. Have I missed much? Did all the races get updated?

All but Blood Elves (and maybe Draenei?), I think.

Pandas, Worgen, Goblins are also, of course, the same.

Ding, motherfuckers.

3rd Day and queue times still aren't changed. it's like they don't even care.

It's more like people are really interested in playing.

I wonder what you propose they do. Increase servers and offer free transfers or something?

The initial rush is going to settle down.

I'm not him, but as a paying customer why should I accept having been able to play for one hour total? I'm so going to demand the service that I bought. Excuses about initial rushes, cost effectiveness and such are 110% irrelevant to me.

Just renewed my subscription to check out the new character models and animations and stuff. My mains are on Kil Jaeden though and it does not seem like i will be getting in there anytime soon. Maybe best to hold off on the expansion purchase for now. Has Blizz given any word on free character migrations?

Idk, there's still plenty of people complaining about being in 5000+ queue times even though the maintenance earlier was supposed to be dedicated to decreasing them. It's not going to get any better as the day goes by either.

Sure, you can choose to be irrational and demand special treatment, but the thing is, there are millions of other paying customers just like you. When a critical mass is reached, lines have to be set up to make sure that the whole thing doesn't just crash for everyone.

It's not even just about cost effectiveness. They set up a bunch of servers to alleviate the load and then people stop playing after a few weeks and the servers are empty. That's not a good experience for anyone.

The problem is, considering my work schedule among other things, if we go by your "rational" route, I don't get to play until 4000 people quit playing on my server. Is it special treatment to be able to play, full stop?

I just started playing WoW for the first time yesterday, luckily there wasn't a queue for the starting area. I was able to play for a while and get up to level 7 before logging off. Hopefully that will be the case tonight after work as well.

Someone remind me again why they don't have overflow servers? And I thought the maintenance was supposed to fix this queue issue...
