I'd love to see a fury warrior without hit rating+ gems.

I really like vuhdo on my resto shaman. I actually also use it on my prot warrior in instances and 10 man, for quick Intervenes and faster Vigilance switches heh

why would a fury warrior need hit rating gems? they only need 5% from gear + 3% from talents (precision) to be yellow capped, i can't imagine needing to gem for it

you also have icewalker enchant to boots which gives +hit and +crit, and you can enchant for hit on your gloves

fury warriors are always better off gemming all red (armor pen or strength depending on your gear level) and Str/Crit gems for socket bonuses where applicable

and alliance warriors are luckier they only need 4% from gear since most likely there will be draeni's in raid

also hit generally has the lowest SEP value, its like armor pen >= strenght > crit > haste > hit, throw expertise in the mix if you are not capped

Ran a PUG today.

I was tanking.

I was top DPS.

... by a lot (1k dps at least)

Healer died because he didn't know what 'stack on me' meant.

Excuse me, but why do you feel that being yellow capped is enough? 60% of the damage outcome is from white damage as fury (this is based on how I play with my gear of course) and being yellow capped means nothing. 24% hit rating (give or take) or bust.

Then clearly you are playing the class wrong.

Whether you have 12 hit rating or 700 hit rating. White damage (auto attacks) will usually be your highest amount of damage done so saying that 60% of your damage done is from white hits is pretty obvious. (unless it's an AoE spam whirlwind/cleave fight)

If you approach the hit rating cap as a warrior, I'm sorry to say ... but you're a horrible warrior as that means all of your other stats will be horrible.

Because it is. To give a straight "math" answer; the Stat Weight of hit goes dramatically below ArP or Strength beyond the yellow hit cap, because white hits aren't 100% of your damage loadout, and even if it did, you'd have to have virtually no strength or ArP to get that much hit rating.

You really can't argue the point that hit rating should be capped for dual wielding. It's never going to fly.

I was kidding about actually needing 24%... but I've always had around 380 hit rating with my fury warrior and I've always stayed in the top 5 in 25 man.

Fun fact: In the original release of WoW, up until 1.8, the dual wield miss penalty was a HARD penalty on white strikes, meaning no amount of hit rating would reduce your white misses beyond 19%.

Didn't matter since +hit gear nearly didn't exist.

Lost all credibility.
They should give tanks special incentive to share their instant queues with DPS for LFG system. It would foster friendships with people on the same realm, instead of just queueing with strangers that you'll rarely meet again from other servers. I'm gearing up a DPS alt right now and just once I'd like to see in trade, "tank queueing for LFG, any DPS wanna join?"

Eh, tanks on my server usually advertise insta-queues for 50g. That's pretty similar, right? :lol

The result would be that the DPS not included would end up waiting even longer in the queue, and it would screw up the LFG system. DPS would begin spamming trade channels looking for tanks to queue with. The whole point of the system was to make setting up groups (outside of your circle of friends) quick and easy, and to remove the need to advertise in chat channels!

The system as it is works fine: if you have a tank as a friend that is willing to run with you, you get in instantly. If not, you wait your turn like everyone else. The fact that tanks get instant spots and not DPS is due to the rarity of tanks, and there really isn't any way to fix it that wouldn't make it worse for the majority of people.

I went with Vuhdo, the amount of polish in these WOW addons is fucking insane.

I had a little taste of raiding when my guild was missing a person, ultimately I just reverted to the standard Raid UI for now as I had just installed the addon and was not used to it at all.

Definately need to gear up it was definately noticable how undergeared I was

Any reccomendations on the easiest way for me to get a decent healing offhand? I got a wicked dagger from PoS (can't remember the name but great mana regen and +550 SP)

Hey, I'm new, I have some time to try out WoW for free, Im wondering if someone can help me/point me in the direction of help for figuring this out so I do it right.

Biggest dilemma is what to play as, I have to be Horde because my friend who got me the game is Horde, I'm thinking though that I'll mostly be soloing, which I read Hunters are good for, but I also read they are useless in groups and I'm worried that will basically mean I'm cut off from most of the best bits of the game. So is there a Horde class that's a decent soloer but also useful to groups?

Whoever told you that hunters aren't useful is full of shit. Hunter do fine ground and are probably #2 in raid DPS, below rogues. I'm one now and I never have problems.

Most hunters used to be crap and got a bad rep, the population has changed now and hunters have useful utility, though at this point it manifests more in raiding. Amazing at soloing though.

The only problem with Hunter soloing is that Beast Mastery is the best leveling spec, and it is so boring it makes me want to gnaw through my mouse cord.

If you go hunter avoid Beast Mastery for your own sake. As tempting as it might be.

unlike most MMO's and WOW originally, you do not need to run a DPS class in order to quickly progress though the game without a group. Because of the cross server "Looking for Group" system, you will almost instantly be queued in a dungeon if you were to be a tank or healer class. This is actually what got me to resubsribe, I was able to play my healer in a proper healer role and still blast through lvls in no time

Of course most people want to be a DPS class, just letting you know you were not limited to :D

Since coming back about 6 weeks ago, I have done a bajillion dungeon runs and there is often a hunter in our group and usually that hunter is the top DPS produce. So they are definately useful.

Indeed.

As boring as it may be, you will level fastest as BM though. It is quite boring though ... send pet in, hunter's mark, serpent sting .... auto shot > arcane shot until dead ..... until you get to the steady shot levels at least.

Eventually it becomes auto-shot > browse the internet in a separate window.

ok that's great, guess I will try hunter to start with then. If I'm avoiding beast mastery where should I go instead? There's probably a website that tells me all this right?

Probably marksman. Just make sure to get a tenacity (tanking) pet. Survival is great but isn't really viable until you can spec into explosive shot. www.wowwiki.com has a lot of good information, or you can try these class guides: http://www.wow.com/2008/02/14/scattered-shots-your-first-levels-as-a-new-hunter/ That guide is a bit outdated (it's for the previous expansion), but you can get the gist of it. It's one of the easiest classes to start with.

Leveling with the LFG tool is ridiculously fast and almost always trivial since everyone is in heirlooms. Very few noobs in my battlegroup, everyone knows what to do and where to go.

It's kinda boring, usually the tank just grabs a whole bunch of mobs and my mags spams blizzard the whole instance. No one ever needs any of the loot there either, so there's really no loot to look forward to. I rarely get something I need from the satchel either.

It's a bit worrisome if the tank isn't in heirlooms though. One good fireball crit is usually enough to pull aggro :lol

A friend of mine is trying to talk me back into WoW. It's been about 5 months since I canceled my account and about 7-8 months or so since I played seriously/raided. The point of replaying really is to see how much old content we could clear, completing random achievements, ect.

One of my main concerns is cutting down my time. I think if I did play, I wouldn't want to run the big raids seriously anymore. I'm okay with not being on the bleeding edge of first kills within the guild and stuff. I'm okay waiting until the raid is on "farm" status. I really don't want to get into multi-night (3 hours on Tuesday, 3 on Wednesday, some on Saturday for new content, like when Ulduar was new) raids to learn or finish a dungeon.

So anyway, I guess what I'm really asking is that I've been checking BiS items for me, and the majority come from, as you would expect, ICC 10 and ICC 25, Coliseum 25, ect. Are full clears for these multi-night runs? Can you expect an average guild to clear these in 3-4 hours and see all the bosses and possible drops? How long are the dungeons compared with the last content ("new" Naxx or Ulduar)? Is my question clear? I don't know...answer it anyway. :lol

I havent seriously raided ICC to tell you how long it last, i guess it's on par with Ulduar(?), but TOC (10 at least) can be cleared in like 30 mins.

the guild i'm in cleared 11/12 in 25m icc last night in under 4 hours, i'm sure better guilds clear the whole place now in a night

so is ICC-h a totally different raid instance compared to regular ICC, similar to ToGC and ToC, or do you share a raid lockout?

ICC has one lockout. When you're able to activate the hardmodes the raid leader just flicks a switch and that boss is now on hardmode. If they get to the next boss and they don't think they can do his hardmode yet, they just flick a switch and he's back on normal.

I got the impression they didn't like the "separate lockouts" but they hadn't really figured out a means to do it before ICC came out. I also got the impression they didn't really like the non-intuitive "activation" modes used in Ulduar either.

Nice, got my t10 gloves out of VOA last week, it filled my four slots too but I cant use them until I get one more token for a 264 slot. The hunter 2pc tier 9 is/was amazing, and its hard to replace. Also my guild got their ninth Death Bringers Will tonight and it went to me, seeing as Im the newest person to the guild I had to wait until all others who wanted it main and offspec before I could snag it. But Ive cleared the intro period now so its all good. Still amazing though that so many trinkets drop for us. Every week since I joined and weeks prior to that also.

Theres always bitching in vent when we open the box and theres another one there. I hope it stops now, all mains and offspecs have it. Its crazy.

Finally, finally got that stupid Saronite cloak. Took forever. We got a lot of different loots than normal to drop for us, which was odd.

Anyways, now to decide what to blow my 210 frost emblems on. Two pieces of T10 to get my 4pc bonus, or hang onto them a little longer incase I get the other blood I need, so I'd blow them on saronites. I hate holding back my toon, as I'd be able to do better in the raids with better gear, but that ax would probably be a bigger dps net than 2 or 3 pcs of frost emblem gear.

I liked the way they used it on XT and Thorim, where there was basically an entry barrier before you accessed the hard bit, and if you couldn't get past the entry barrier it was clear you had no place in the hard mode yet.

On the other hand, it did rather foster defeatism, because the temptation to go on with a normal kill after failing to meet the entry requirements is pretty great, when possibly people just needed to push a little harder.

Gah, blood prince council. I tank the shadow dude, the other tank gets flattened by the two other ones. We swap, the other tank isn't able to collect purple floaty things. We get a ranged to tank shadow dude, other ranged folks aren't able to keep beach balls in the air.

I sometimes really envy that guy who had a bunch of computers/accounts and just did everything himself.

Anyone see this?

On Tuesday, Feb. 16, we were honored to host a special event at our Irvine, Calif. headquarters to mark the donation of more than $1.1 million to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation International, two organizations that grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions in 36 countries around the world.

This donation, which was based on 50 percent of the total sales during November and December of the Pandaren Monk pet for World of Warcraft, was ultimately made possible by the World of Warcraft community. We appreciate the support the community showed for this important cause.

As part of yesterday's event, we invited 15 wish children and their families to tour the Blizzard campus, meet with the World of Warcraft development team, and participate in a variety of fun activities. Check out the press release to read more about the event, and visit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation International websites to learn more about these organizations.

So blizzard made 1.1 million revenue from a single pet alone. Wow.

I just turned 80 on my Paladin two days ago and have been trying to figure out what a good starting raid set is. I was able to get a Titansteel Destroyer crafted for me so far, not sure if I should get those two titansteel dps plate pieces made as well.

This is my character: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Borean+Tundra&cn=Verigan
Just run random dungeons over and over again for badges. You will replace those two titansteel pieces (and most likely your destroyer) in under a week, especially once you start doing ToC/ICC 5 mans.

Also: Consider rerolling or at least switching to Holy or Prot if you want to get any raiding done. I played my Pally since day 1 of TBC and I still love the class but there are just too many people rolling Pally these days. Every 10 man I joined had at least 2 other pallies. I've been on 3 different servers since WotLK and it is the same thing. Abandon all hope.

Yeah, if you want to raid with a plate class, you should be tanking or healing. If you hate both roles, i'm sorry, but you won't raid very much unless you're lucky and get in a pug raid that needs melee dps, and those are really rare...
