Nice.... does it still have free roaming world? WR1 was great for "casual sunday driving", scenery was so beautiful that sometimes I just did some sightseeing instead of racing. =)

2??? 2??? WHY!!!! the first one was the first game EVER to make me physically upset. seriously. I spent like an hour just trying to fully damage out my car only ending on the verge of tears and with a headache. horrible game.

Agree. I really liked the first one. I`m surprised and glad they`re making a sequel because the first one had great potential but was just lacking a little in polish. If they fix some issues and keep the huge tracks/stages this could be awesome.

The graphics looks fantastic also, even better than the first. Which is no small feat.

yes. I hope they improve the sound effects, engine sounds were kinda too low and sounded kinda weak, and IIRC the game missed the sound effect when you drove over the curbs. It felt kinda stupid....

GT3 has great effect when you drive over curbs.

And 3d trees would be cool... Hopefully wr2 will still have ufos and aliens. =) And PLEASE make the menus more user friendly, at first they were confusing like hell. =)))

The first game was sooo weird and the environment felt so empty, it felt like some weird Silicon Graphics driving demo from the 90s. Total free roaming, INCREDIBLE engine. The world kind of reminded me of Pilotwings.

Yeah... One of the fun things I did with WR1 is that I drove to the highest possible location and then drove of the cliff/dam/whatever.... it was like skydiving.

6th October 2004. TDK Mediactive today released the very first screenshots taken from the PC and Xbox version of the upcoming racing game World Racing 2. The screenshots give a first impression of the current status of the game, which is being developed in the studios of racing software specialist Synetic.

World Racing 2 enhances the technology of the game's fore-runner World Racing, which introduced an innovative 3D landscape technology and sophisticated driving physics. While World Racing focussed on the simulation aspect, World Racing 2 will put the fun of driving at centre stage and offer optimised arcade racing characteristics, rich and varied range of mission modes, lively scenarios, enhanced tuning options and a great variety of cars.

The new screenshots already indicate some of the game's improvements:

• Upgraded graphics engine
• Lively scenarios full of detail
• Improved shadows and light settings
• Higher level of detail for car models
• Added options to individualize the car designs (car body vinyls, wheels?)
• New dust and dirt effects

World Racing 2 is currently scheduled to be released end of Q1 2005 for Xbox, PC and PlayStation2.

Agreed!

Sod the racing, it was just plain fun exploring the map. They made a mistake in making it a racer to be honest, should have been some hugh Runabout style mission game.

Total 27 cars/bodies plus tuning and different engine types.

Mercedes WANTED to be in the game again... so they are. Impressive racing Mercedes cars... In total more than 6 brands I can not announce yet. More cars like in MBWR too PLUS engine variations and tuning.

Nice to see more car models... one of the weak points of WR1 was that while it had lots of car models, they were all mercedes...and most of them were very similar to each other...

Cool, this could be a total winner if the mission mode had insane stunt shit like "DO A CRAZY JUMP" or "FIND THE HIGHEST POINT IN THE MAP THEN CORKSCREW OFF IT AND FALL FOR +10 SECONDS"

I played the PS2 version a bit less then two weeks ago.
The only reason I can't call it the worst racing game on PS2(graphically or otherwise) is because I played demo of NightRider2(yes there is a sequel coming) about 5minutes later.

Cool, i enjoyed the first one.
I never (and i mean never) finished one race, but i spent hours exploring the maps and just freeroaming, or enabled the free camera mode to pan in, out and around.
It was entertaining in a way, just looking at those huge mountains far away and knowing they could be reached and drived onto.
They should have turned it into a 'driving' game more than a 'racing' game, something like Test Drive 3, where you would just 'travel', or used the engine for some action rpg.
I'm definately getting this.
