What's with these long waiting times to login? Didnt the stress tests and long beta prepare blizzard for this day? Waiting an hour to get into game, or get back in after you crash is crazy. Hopefully it will calm down soon, but the blizzard WoW forums are screamin.

First impressions last a long time. Just imagine if Blizzard was a gaming studio that wasnt so well respected. This forum would be ripping them a new one...and laughing the entire time.


Get it fixed fast, blizzard...I want to try this bad boy out!
 
I agree the queue's are complete crap.

I do need to point out that the official WoW forums are going to be the most worthless place on Earth during WoW's run. Idiocy is rampant on that forum, it makes VNBoards/DAoC look like a pacifist convention. For every person bitching about cancelling already (wow, talk about jumping the gun), there are 10 others like myself that view this as launch day blues, and yet 200 others ingame enjoying themselves relatively lag-free.

That's saying a lot.

The problem is they bullshitted us throughout the open beta saying that the item lag was due to testing they were causing. It obviously wasn't, and that's why we have the queue's to limit the number of people. You still will get the loot lag every once in a while currently (much shorter though like 10 seconds or so).

I dunno. I didn't have a single problem with lag at the end of open beta, after they said they were done testing the servers.

I did it was so awful I couldn't stand to use the AH in Ironforge. Did you start a new character? It was still there in the beginner area's. I didn't have any problems in area's outside the new parts. No matter, this is crap. My wait time is fluctuating between 60-100+ minutes left in the queue and I've been in the queue for 15 mins.
 
I saw it earlier today and ran far away it's like the SWG and COH forums (before CoH got a Nazi mod) I think some people just pay a monthly fee to bitch and moan

Honestly, if they weren't ready, this is the best way to do it. Problem was that they weren't ready and shouldnt have bullshit people.
 
I got onto my server pretty easy and the lag wasn't there till just a little while ago when I logged off (actually, I COULDN'T log off, it started lagging so bad). I'm on Doombringer? MST server.
 
sounds like your server actually crashed, Kintaro... that happened a lot during the beta.

I haven't gotten the game yet because of finals in a couple weeks, but that's a blessing in disguise just because a lot of this stuff will hopefully be sorted out by then.
 
I couldn't compare them on gameplay since I didn't get into the EQ2 beta at all, but they've had a pretty solid launch while Blizzard hasn't. But that's just a launch... not like it won't get better within a couple weeks.
 
DAOC is like 50 years old so of course it would be running great. I'm more surprised that EQ2 actually had a pretty successful launch, really. They aren't known for having a great track record.

Thats what happens when nobody buys the game at launch, the servers have an easy go of it.
 
That and I'm sure they are using the same server code from EQ1 modified for what they needed in EQ2. They've been down this road before and know about/have all the capacity they need.
 
Lag free gameplay? Tichondrius just went down and prior to that, there was 20 mins of lag and everyone bitching in general. People were permanently stuck in looting animation and getting attacked. NPC's weren't available to talk to redeem quests... Far from lag-free at the end. Prior to that, it was very nice, even though Brill was amazingly crowded. Can't wait to get out of that town... only a few more quests then I head south to Silverpine.

Sorry kids, Blizzard is the first to do this. I dont deem it needed. But hey thats cool. Stand in line to suck the royal *BEEEEEoooooooop* of the great Blizzard. Remember youre getting charged more a month than most online games AND YOU handle the distribution of patch content with bit torrent.

Yeah turn that leech off. Thatll work real well :p

No they don't, that was beta only. Retail patches are distributed over their own servers, as demonstrated by the last patch.
 
I haven't had any lag problems until tonight. I expect shit like this to happen with every MMO launch. EQ2 went so well because only 5 people bought it.
 
Yea,I finally got fed up of hovering over my dead corpse in wisp form waiting for the game to let me revive myself.It was fun watching all the people bitch about how they wanted their money back and shit though :lol

umm.. I just bought retail and it was patched over bittorrent..

that being said, I had zero queue time (never even saw a queue) and no lag whatsoever.. granted everyone in channel 1 was bitching about lag, but I never saw any of it.

from what I have heard, EQ2 did have a more successful launch, but from what I've seen from EQ2 and what I've played of WoW, Blizzard definitely has the better game.. just my two cents.. just got done playing.. almost level 6 with an orc warlock.. going to bed.. gotta work in 5 hours.. uggh...

if this was coming from any other idiot on these forums they would have been banned for trolling. and while I'm just wasting time writing a reply, monthly fees for WOW aren't any more than COH or EQ2 (and nobody is paying them right now). there hasn't been a patch at all since the beta ended (and the last patch was so fast I never even saw the blizzard bittorrent client start up).

oh well, things could be worse, the WOW players could be playing a game where there are a few flavor of the month unkillable classes and everything else sucks, the leveling is a boring treadmill of grinding monsters over and over again, and the pvp combat is decided purely by who has control of the uber leet item instead of player skill.
 
At least I can actually get into my game to play it whenever I want, and for 2 dollars less a month.

right...puhleez...EQ2 had over 100K (LINK ) in preorders alone. And anyone notice that the server count has more than doubled since they launched? I think both games will do fine. But why some of you turn a blind eye to anything negative about blizzard is pure fanboyism. Or, they are your employer!

so basically you're paying more than it would cost to pay per month for 6 months of WOW? and you're bitching about... oh, that's right, problems logging in during the launch week of one of the most anticipated MMO games (which you hate and have no intention of playing anyway, despite it being in spirit a better version of DAOC).

Exactly... fuck this is a launch week for probably the most anticipated MMORPG in existence. And for the record, I installed, signed up and logged on last night with NO PROBLEM.

I was one of those who thought that Blizzard's oodles of online experience would have ensured a painless launch, welp, guess I was wrong.... but I'm glad to be wrong becuase hahahaha the Blizzard fanboys are funny.

Props to Sony for what seems like the best launch of a MMO yet.

well you know, third times a charm...

jeez.. with all of the SOE d*** sucking you'd almost forget about the disasters that were their previous two launches..

let's also not forget that the backend for the game is a modified version of a platform that has been running for umm.. like 7 years now (I believe EQ first went to closed beta in late 1997). must be nice when you can botch two launches to fine tune the whole thing for a third one..

and I'm not an EQII hater.. I was contemplating it along with WoW.. but like I said, the SOE praise for something that has taken them this long is getting a little ridiculous. it's completely disrespectful to those of us who paid $100+ dollars and literally days of our time to beta test the EQ2 launch over the past 7 years. :\

I'd say the people who are quick to say Blizzard is having some kind of failed launched based on their forums are just as funny. OMG BLIZZARD TEH FAILED SONY EQ2 ROX LOOLOOLOL!!!11

Like I said, last night I signed up and logged on with no problem... and I saw many, many, many people playing as well.
 
After they rebooted the servers last night everything has been perfect. Minus about 45 minutes of not being able to play everything has went pretty well on the Deathwing server.

I ran around for like 2 hours last night trying to find it.. finally I got a gamestop telling me that they will probably have some more in next week... unfortunately this meant that I would either have to wait a week before playing (thus missing this perfectly fine four day winter weekend) or buy the normal version and thus have no reason to drop $80 on yet another copy that I'm not going to use.......

really pissed about this.. and everyone I know has already picked up the game so it's not like I can buy the collector's edition and give them the CD key for $50...

sorry, just really annoyed... the collector's edition looks gorgeous.. ONE store had it, and the guy in front of me was buying the last copy. :(

The guy I work with had no idea what I was talking about. I don't know if he followed the Blizz instructions and went Mountain server or what. He said he got directly in with no queue at 5:30 pm, and they had no lag at all.

I'm guessing he got randomized onto some crappy no load Mountain PvE server.
 
Apparently there will be an 'insider' WoW account option available in the near future. The fee is twice as much as a regular account and no lines!

It's hardly randomized. The entire point of the suggestaserver is to reduce newcomers to high population servers.

I checkmarked Central and PvP and it suggested I go to Mal'Ganis. That worked, because a lot of people from here were going to Mal'Ganis, so I said ok. If Mal'Ganis is the least populated of those servers I feel bad for the other people.
