Blizzard only hires the best talent in the world these days

I mean, this is isn't that far from the little experience I had with World of WarCraft, it matches what I saw, if memory serves. I have always liked their RTS games more, never really got into WOW.

Even worse than the Concord characters is the fact that they've continued to develop this now ancient turd for over 20 years instead of making something new. The company is clearly totally bankrupt of ideas and talent and has been for decades at this point.

In it's glory days it was.. glorious.. Now it's standing around waiting for your Dungeon queues to pop up and running around doing dailies - rinse and repeat ad nauseam.
The biggest reason I quit WoW. Same ole same ole every patch. My first time 1-60 during Wrath was the best experience in gaming I've ever had. Nothing comes close. I played 17hrs/day during off days for awhile & stayed happy the whole time.

I knew what this was going to be before clicking the thread.

Same. That's also where the decline for WoW started as well funnily

You're never going to top Arthas as a villain, this was a long wait between what happens in Warcraft 3 to the end of Wrath.
This was the starting point of phasing in realms and queues for instanced content.

Now the game just feels.. empty - even though it still has a sizable population.

Do you see why I stopped playing so many years ago? I tried again with classic, but there the community is just stupid.

The artists actually fo a good job but may be constrained for either dumb or pragamatic reasons that limit their expression—even for big companies with more than enough (ideally).

Seemed pretty par for the course, given how cringe the game has always been. I mean, look at that art style. I could never even begin to get into this game for that alone and I'm a Blizzard fanboy.

Thats really depressing. I remember when I played Warcraft 3 for the first time and the CGI was nuts.

I still playing Warcraft 3, but Blizzard would never do a game like that again even if they tried. Require both qualify folks and people that do love gaming in their heart.
The best way to play Warcraft 3 campaign is now to play it in the Star craft 2 engine. That mod is god like magic and the entire affair everything is free. Thank God Blizzard is not banning it

I'm so tired with modern gaming guys. Why did we stop caring? Blizz is earning so much money every month thanks to MILLIONS of subscribers and they can't even properly support WoW with quality updates. And that should be a minimum...

Do a 1000 years time skip with Warcraft IV and then release World of Warcraft 2. Release World of StarCraft with interplanetary travel. Maybe a proper RTS in Diablo universe? I wouldn't mind that! There are so many exciting paths Blizzard could take.

What they are doing now is just embarrassing. It feels like minimal viable product is king these days. They satisfy shareholders over consumers - why are gamers happy with all this? We will get nothing but slop if this continues.

Yea, because "old Blizzard" designed the game. But glad they treated it with the respect it deserves and made an incredible remaster.
I thought Vicarious Visions, who were forcefully joined with Blizzard, were the devs of Resurrected. Or am I mixing things up?

Damn, the guys at South Park studios were making better in game cutscenes in wow almost 20 years ago,
The South Park episode wow segments were better animated, looked better, and much better written 🤣

That said, the only person I know who still plays wow is my mother in law, who has played it every day since release. She plays in a Swedish house wives guild, and I'm pretty sure she doesn't give two shits about the story and just plays it to hang out with her guild members. I wouldn't be surprised if most the audience are just like her. So letting Karen from HR do all the writing and animating herself probably makes little difference.

I mean its an in game cutscene what else could they have done with it? Not too many companies nowadays doing cgi.
Put some effort on the animation. I've seen machinima shit done by fans looking way better than the cutscene in the OP.

That part when they spin in place while clashing swords and there's 0 movement is shameful.

I came in here to absolutely go off but turns out it's shitting on Blizzard so I'm all for it 😂😂

This is coming from someone who almost plays WoW daily, this is fucking sad.

The cutscene was low effort as was the quest so I didn't expect any better. My issue is that I've been bothered the whole xpac on the fact her scar is on the wrong side of her face...

Oh damn I forgot about this haha.

The unwritten rules:
1. The higher the diversity space score, the more brave, strong, virtuous, and sympathetic they must be portrayed
2. In any interaction between characters, the one with the higher DS score must come out on top

As a former Blizzard employee, this is just so sad it hurts. I was there when we launched Legion, and I still think it's the best expansion for the game. So many awesome story moments!

And now we have... this. I'm glad I got out when I did. As much as I loved my friends there, and as much fun it was to work there most days, I knew it was time to go. Writing on the wall and such.

What a downfall...

Great to be on a team with such a storied history and impact on the gaming scene, but yeah, probably the right call.
