I’ve got to ask, how long has OVW been in syndication? I recorded TNA on my local sports network(NESN) and they went right into OVW. I’m going to give it a go since I’d like another alternative to WWE besides TNA.

Btw I am a week behind on my TNA viewing but I have to add something. Kaz does a better Joe Hendry than Joe Hendry.

Here's something I enjoyed quite a bit, Cornette reacting to Bryan Alvarez trying to comes to grip with an AEW storyline and Meltzer trying to defend it. (Come to think of it maybe I should try going back to watching AEW. You know, unless they did something stupid like put the title on Moxley or something.)

If it’s done properly another Cena run could be good, he’s a character not for everybody but I do know people who grew up with Cena, it’s weird to see old Cena.

Fortunately, I think we can trust Triple H to make it memorable.

But yeah time flies. I still remember all the complaints on this very forum back in the day about "Super Cena" and now it's all over.

Annual is a bit of a joke, he found a print out from last year (someone sent it to him) and read it again.
Makes sense it was sent in to get him to do it again. Cornette has a bit of a lolcow status these days with people pushing him to do more of this stuff. It’s a pity to see what he’s become since he’s so good with the history stuff. But I guess just doing that has a smaller audience than the stuff he does now.

Well to quote something he says a lot "You got to give da people what dey want". (I can't remember who he's quoting when he says that. Maybe Dusty.)

I enjoyed a new thing they tried this week where Brian dug into his The Wrestling News archives (as he owns it all) and pulled out letters. You get interesting insights.

I like the historical stuff, but between Dynamite, Smackdown, Raw, PPVs and news it barely even leaves time for questions even across 2 shows. Last time they dropped AEW people wanted it back. Which makes sense, because the draw for so many is "I don't like this, but I don't know enough to say why".

Yeh it is what it is. The history stuff is more interesting to me but the "I can't wait to hear Jim roast this" crowd has gotten bigger and bigger with the direction "the wrestling discourse" has gone in. Like I say, it's a pity to see what Cornette has become.

WWE has been putting out a number of promotional spots for the upcoming debut of Raw on Netflix. One of the segments they aired tonight showed a numeral 0 followed by a pentagram.

Anyway, you expect any surprise guests two weeks from now? That video is surely teasing a John Cena appearance, don't you agree?

Anyone had a chance to read any of this Jim Londos biography? I've heard good things and might pick it up sometime soon.

its pentagon.

That's correct, when TK got word they weren't staying and it was obvious they'd jump to WWE together he added bullshit time to the end of Reys deal. Such a good guy that TK, not like Vince at all

To be fair, the only entertainment Aew provides at this point is being able to laugh at their neckbeard fans while Tiny et al. systematically destroy any argument they ever had for being better in any way than Vince / WWE.

That, and they provide content for Cornette and Bischoff which I appreciate.

I've been listening to Cornette omnibuses and what stands out to me is how much things have changed in the last few years.

There was a moment in time when WWE wasn't doing much of anything and AEW was gaining momentum. It's like there's been a complete 180. Did the Bloodline stuff (let's say Sami onwards as it's been years in total) start under Vinnie Mac or Trips?

AEW's loss has been WWE's gain with Punk, and AEW did it all to themselves. Punk has been used well so far and everyone is prospering. Just look at the Punk Macintyre match. Even Hunter must be thanking Jungle Boy for that one.

I wonder if AEW will be able to turn it around and grow or if they will continue to settle for "Got TV, not making a loss now."

Sorry to hear that.
Honestly Cornette is the only thing that makes AEW interesting to me. I can't watch that stuff its so bad. Every now and then I'll listen to him review a show, I'll think to myself that it can't be THAT bad...I check it out online and he is right.

It's definitely NOT good wrestling. The storytelling is even worse. It feels like I'm watching practice matches.

I'm not watching much at the moment since I don't think the quality of what's out there across the industry is all that great right now. But on the plus side I'm not listening to Cornette. So I guess it could be worse.

"2024 @AEW is the next 2021 AEW."
- Tony Khan

This is the year AEW signed Okada, Mercedes Mone, Deonna Purrazzo, Will Ospreay, and Bobby Lashley.

Attendance and viewership are all down and now they're struggling to beat NXT in viewership. I know someone is going to say the demo is more important, but a decline in viewership and attendance shows the company is not headed in the right direction.

This is a bad time for AEW not to be on the top of their game because WWE is going to continue that momentum going into 2024.

- John Cena is going to have his retirement tour in 2025
- Penta will probably make his debut next week. Rey Fenix at the end of this year.
- Jordynne Grace is rumored to sign with WWE.
- Ricky Starks will likely join WWE in the Summer of 2025. He's going to have a lot of shit to say once the has an open mic.
- Josh Alexander is a free agent and he might join WWE

A lot of contracts are coming up in 2025 and how many AEW stars to sign with WWE?

There was a brief moment in time where the general mood was "Vince is senile, WWE is stale, and we need something new." With Vince leaving and HHH filling in, WWE somehow became the new fresh thing instead.

Aew peaked in terms of relevance with Punk's debut and his feuds (though I personally checked out way back when Matt Hardy "warped" around the arena), and have been in sharp decline since he left.

At this point it's almost sad. Nobody is talking about Aew, nobody watches it, and certainly nobody actually goes to the shows. If Cornette and Bischoff weren't so entertaining in their dismantling of all of Tiny's missteps, I might actually say they should lay off.
