Wrath of the Lich King: Alpha leak compendium; title music suite, abilities, pictures

It's not a big issue or anything but I hope they tone down the colors for the map. It's a bit too colorful for what is supposed to be the nexus of frost and unholy magic.

I liked the BC loadings screens more, to be honest. The Tauren is a bit too smooth-faced compared to her Horde comrades and the Night Elf...

That's not a Night Elf.

(DK looks so awesome.)

There is now a built in Stopwatch and Alarm clock feature that can be found on the bottom of the minimap. This allows you to create a small drag-able Stopwatch box with start/pause/reset options, or set an alarm, along with an alarm message, for either the realm time or your actual local time.

When the alarm goes off, the clock flashes and the sound effect for a PvP queue coming up plays. (Didn't notice the alarm message anywhere. It may have yet to be added or I was just blind.)

And yes, it can be disabled in the interface options menu. No, it doesn't have a snooze button.

How is that not a Night Elf?

Also: Tauren is female.

wow well that sucks! Every other class seems to be getting awesome buffs and us poor rogues are gonna get the shaft

Yeah, having great PvE dps, stealth, blink, cloak of LOL and the ability to run like a bitch if PvP isn't going quite the way you like even after you get an almost guaranteed first hit isn't quite good enough. Buff rogues, please.

I dig the new Kalimdor map. High Warlord troll Hunter and a Tier 6 Obliteration orc Warrior? Hard to beat that.

Ewww at the tauren though.. and damn is that a skinny elf -- even by elf standards.

I really don't want to be pulled in to this game again. Thankfully, my old AGP vid card died on me, and had to resort to a TI4200, which can only maintain ~20fps in the starting zone. I am really tempted to buy a new vid card like the one I had before that could handle the game.

I had a 70 mage as my main, which I LOVED. Once I found the arcane spec, I was hooked. It was tough to manage my survivability in solo, but in raids and groups, it was amazing.

I get the tax relief check soon, so that might be going toward a new video card, lol.

I'd imagine he's on about the fact you need to wait till 77 before you can use your mount in Northrend.

I'm still shocked that this thread is still at only ~350 posts.

You can tell GAF is not exactly crazy about WoW (and to be honest, neither am I even though I have played it quite a lot.)

Well it is a dominantly console board. And MMO fans/communities are isolated by genre standards since so many folks play just a MMO and really don't get involved in other types of games. So it's not all that surprising.

If anything, GAF seems to have a higher number of MMO players than most general console/PC forums that I know. The AOC and LotRO threads were especially stronger than I expected. Which is great.

Eh....there's a RATHER sizable WoW thread in the Online forum. The gaming forum moves so fast, not everyone posts in this one.

GAF nerds like to think that people that play WoW are all addict losers...playing console games and posting on GAF all day is totally different! :P

I'm hoping WotLK can reignite my love for the game, I have tried countless times to get back into it with different classes, recently was just given a rogue that's got good gear and I still got bored after a day or two. =\

Its funny because you speak true words.

Just take a peak at the Online forum and check out the absurdly huge World of Warcraft thread there.

Cheap Shot losing 2 combo points is a bit of a bummer. Contrary to popular belief rogues do need a little fixing. Daggers as a weapon (you know the thing rogues start with) are second class in both PvP (especially Arenas but I'm tired of balancing around that) and Raiding. I think making Mutilate a trainable talent instead of the 41-point for Assassination might work (like with Cloak of Shadows in TBC).

That isn't frostmourn is it, surely?
It sure is.

I don't see how since that would only make you take 40 points in assassination. Because otherwise you might as well just use backstab.

Uhhh are you sure thats not the Death knight starting weapon? The one that looks remarkably similar to Frostmourne.
yes i am sure

Edit: Actually wait you are right. It looks exactly like frostmourne except the serrated part is on the wrong side and the runes aren't quiet the same.

Yes, that is Frostmourne.

There's a screenshot around somewhere of a Clockwork Gnome vendor selling it for nothing.
Obviously a Alpha only thing.

FUCK, that's GREAT!

Hunter
* Charge - Description changed to read "animal" instead of "boar".
* Gore - Gores the enemy, causing x damage. This attack has a 50% chance to inflict double damage, or triple damage if used just after a Charge.

Oh, Daddy likes. I just may have to get a boar or hopefully Wrath has a new pet family with Charge and Gore.

Missing Mage talent? :

Winter's Grasp Rank 2/2
Gives your frost damage spells a 20% chance to apply the Winter's Grasp effect, which increases the chance all attacks will hit the target by 4% and the target is considered frozen for 4 seconds.

they dont love us :(

Yeah, cause taking away the deadzone and giving you mortal strike and dispel magic ADDED to shit you already use is not love. By far the biggest buffs any class has EVER received to core abilities.

Warlock.

Most of the Hunter changes make them really fucking annoying in a PUG battleground and not much else.

Although I want to choke you dorks who keep talking about your class being ignored. Four classes are not properly present in the Alpha, because they're still under extensive development. Unsure why Rogue is missing, but I figured Shamans, Paladins and Hunters would be absent at first, as they probably need mechanic make overs if Blizzard wants to continue to push their Arenas.

Back to business; man I'm starting to want a DK. Such cool shit has been shown lately.

Stormwind Harbor is jawdropping. WotLK > TBC confirmed.

Far out. Blizzard really do have some of the best artists in the business.
Blizzard has the best artists in the business, on the concept side and technical side.

There's no other explanation for a game with an engine as toasterish as World of Warcraft having the amazing graphics that it does.

Better shot of the (a?) DK Mount:

mountnew.jpg

Brewfest Kodo mount!

The Alliance are going to fucking love that :lol I absolutely adored getting my Brewfest Ram mount with my Tauren. They were HUGE compared to other races rams.

Brewfest kodo... Alliance on a kodo is just wrong. Kodo are the tanks of the Horde.

Should of been raptors. Trolls are always intoxicating themselves with odd stuff anyhow.

Makes sense though considering Horde got rams.

Onto other things, the capital city ports are going to be sick. That Stormwind port screenshots looks awesome.

And yet Hunters are still one of the lowest represented classes in high-end arena play.....

they really need to add cross-faction mounts attainable somehow beyond just tigers and rams and now kodos. I'd love to have a draenei elephant while still being a much cooler race like, well, anything.

Talbuks are my favorite mounts, so I'm pretty content. I have a Silver Talbuk for my Draenei Priest, looks really great.

You really have to appreciate how much the art makes up for the game's deficiencies in actual graphics.

In any case, I'm not an arena player, but the current theme seems to be a primarily melee dominance (rogues, warriors).

I play Warlock, and Atrocity is a PoS talent, and I'm glad they are considering Cripple instead, even though the 21 point Ruin might be more useful in terms of a PvE situation (if a boss is immune to Cripple, that is). Unfortunately, a lot of the 51-pointers seem PvP based.

I'm also somewhat tempted to level my warrior instead. Heroic Leap sounds useless in PvE, but insanely fun.
