I haven't read the HP books, but from that CBS video, it seems like the problem with the Snitch could be either:

A) You have a better XC runner as a seeker
B) He is too good and the game ends when he's sick of running circles around everyone.

They should play it indoors and let a fly loose. First person to kill it gets the points.

A) If you seeker is better then you indeed deserve to win. I've caught snitches in the first few minutes of a game before any points have been scored on the field. The fact is if you have a good seeker, you should win. Your team is only as strong as your weakest link and if they other seeker is unable to get a grab before you or is unable to at least stop you from getting a grab, then they lost because of him. Part of why the game is exciting is because the snitch sets a variable time limit.

B) The snitch is supposed to return to the field in 10-20 minutes usually and after that time has to remain within the confines of the field. After having 2 seekers chase him around for a while it's pretty hard to keep them both fended off, especially since you can sub seekers.
