Wuchang: Fallen Feathers |OT| Saving dat pirate booty

Tapped out after Honglan 2. I'm so sick of hyper aggressive attack spam boss designs. Gonna wait and see what they do in the upcoming patch(es).

I'm here for the fun and as long as I'm having fun overcoming the challenge I stick around. I did not have fun beating Honglan 2.

There's plenty of other games that have recently released that I also want to play so no need to force myself.

*My* Wuchang always looks hot hot
Ngl, my bai looks like a discount hooker from the next corner down the streets. Everytime I try to dress her up she ends up the same way.

I can definitely see the problem with that fight. This kinda boss fight should have been at the backend of the game if at all. Both fights with this cunt gave me fromsoft slop ptsd.

Fortunately I learned her whole moveset and beat her ass with dualblades with deflecting and backing off when she does her summer sale martial arts.

Also who taught it was a good idea that fists beat steel? Big monster enemies I understand but human vs human? Fuck that.

C'mon, don't be so dramatic. Those traps are baby stuff - just sprint past 'em, and if the status effects hit, pop a chill pill (literally) and you're golden. I just finished NG+2, it's really nothing.

Spam charge attack in the back, it's either you get destroyed or you're steamrolling her. It depends on if you're lucky and her patterns will offer you her back easily or on the contrary if she repositions perfectly to not get hit any time even if you dodge her patterns for 5 minutes straight.

I got to say like most of those kinds of games, it's very based on metaprogression and the combats are pretty lame and repetitive in the end. I'm against the final boss, the game has been tedious for a while now and the final boss is just the same. I'm finishing it for good measure but very mid and boring overall.

signs of a poorly designed game when the mob makes you change important stuff after one week

I just finished the game yesterday on PC Game Pass, a pretty solid Soulslike but not without its flaws, played for about 50 hours or so.

Would give it 3.5/5.

Gonna keep an eye out for this studio though, if they improve on their formula(well "their") for their next game it might be a banger.

Sad that this wasnt implemented sooner, but atleast they are changing stuff for the better.

"* Slight adjustment to the invincibility frames during Wuchang's get-up animation after being knocked down. This is to prevent players being punished during the get-up animation and to improve the game experience at early stages of the game.

* Sped up Wuchang's healing animation slightly to ensure players have enough time to heal. The recovery animation after drinking can now be cancelled with a dodge, enhancing the strategic element. "

lol such BS when you're knocked down and the boss is hitting you over and over. Finally get to get up and you're hit yet again. I'm glad they're changing it.

Refunded the game on steam just before the cut off. One of the worst souls clones.

Makes me just want to replay lies of P because it's actually good

I don't think they can afford to ignore it, honestly. Unless you're a big player like FROM and sold millions of copies, you probably should try to keep your players happy (to a reasonable degree). If a large group has a problem that can be fixed by adding some milliseconds of I-frames then they should.

I dont agree at all. I like this one so much more than Lies of P. The level design in Lies of P is so generic and linear, I can't stand that in a Souls game

Ive been playing this with the Parry Anything mod and its such a game changer with longsword, not that far, but it went from alright to amazing for me.

With that mod you can parry every single attack? Does it look good?
Yeah, it just makes the sword counter discipline work on everything, not just enemy weapon attacks so it feels very natural. (dont know how it interacts with block/clash weapons tho) Its very customizable, even has a poise system. Kind of brings the game closer to Sekiro.

Sounds dope and exactly what I want this game to be.

Got a link?

My game crashed out right as I got the last hit on Ai Negqi. His death popped up for a split second, and then crash. It didn't save lmao

That's low key frustrating as hell.

EDIT: Got him again, but still bullshit.

I'm still playing, but the way it runs on the series x... I keep having doubts if it's worth continuing. At Fang Ling now. Starts the fight with 4 projectiles. Can't dodge them cause the game chugs so hard I can't really see them hitting me half of the time. Its a recurring theme now really. I con't care about it looking like hot fuzzy mess but this is actually ruining gameplay.

This game has potential but it needs a lot more polish. Seems to be the dev's first game so that's relatively impressive, but also you can tell they were inexperienced in some areas.

I think it needed a few extra months too cook more.

Yeah, I found Lies of P level design to be very disappointing. Strong art direction helped it. Really like Wuchang so far, only three bosses down but the level design is genuinely FROM tier - takes some doing on your first outing.

Everything else so far works pretty well and gives me the vibes of the best FROM games. Only beat three bosses so far, but it's been fun each time.

So essentially this "fixes" the devs inconsistent amateurish parry system that only worked on whatever they did not forget to make it work on, and instead works on all attacks as it should've from the very fucking start especially considering it's a discipline skill. Will try it.

This is strange. I just finished her boss fight on Series X and I didn't have any frame issues. Dodging those projectiles was never an issue. I've had maybe two instances of the game chugging since I've started, and they both lasted a split second.

You have your performance set to "Prioritize FPS" and have "Lock FPS" set to on, right?

yes to both, also 120hz display as recommended. No idea, maybe something is wrong with my console

So I think I'm getting to end game. I'm loving the combat and exploration, but the further I get in, I've only found one real complaint, and I haven't seen many people bring it up.

WTF is up with the enemy variety this game? We're fighting the same opponents throughout, but with different health/damage modifiers. Every once in a while they throw a curve ball enemy, but for the most part, it's the same dogs/sword wielding savages/flag bearing necromancers/dancing fire psychos/frenzy bird mutants. Every time I get to a new area and think it'll switch things up, it doesn't.

This is seriously the only thing keeping this game from being god tier for me. So far, it's not quite on Froms level, or even Lies of P,

I don't have a 120hz display. Maybe it's performance issues stemming from that? Is there any way to lock your display to 60hz to match the games output? I can't imagine why 120 would be recommended when the game never goes beyond 60.

Some of the human bosses in this game are so difficult to fight that Malania fight in Elden Ring looks like tutorial :)
Thank to Elden Ring practice, this game looks more easier, If I didn't had experience with From games I will delete the game from my PC ASAP!!!

I noticed some skills count as a spell, gets buffed as such
Although Feathering Windstrike doesn't scale with the weapon but Sacrifice does
Pretty good damage on a Feathering focused build

Finished yesterday, final boss was kind of a pushover compared to what I conquered before him, cool design though. I got the "bad" ending it seems despite my best efforts lol. Lots of easily missable trophies so anyone saying they got the plat on their first playthrough is full of shit, would mean using a guide from the very start and even then it's easy to fuck it up.

Started NG+ and while I'd like to have a Wuchang plat trophy sitting next to my Nioh 2, Lies of P, Khazan, Wukong and various FromSoft plats I don't know that I'll dedicate the time to do it, we'll see, not particularly hard but definitely need a guide to avoid messing some stuff up. Overall I enjoyed my time with it quite a bit, hopefully the devs learn from this experience and make a sequel that addresses the various issues, lots of potential to turn this into a truly great series 👌

I'm on my 3rd run, want to get all pendants +3 and needle variants. Also trying to get all red mercury essences from enemy drops to complete my skilltree, since lv290 is max, but not enough to activate all nodes.

This game is better than all FS games, except Demon Souls and Bloodborne.

input lag, my screen's native hz is 120, if it's set at anything else than native the input lag goes up quite a bit and "game mode" is required to minimise it, it doesn't matter what the fps of the game is.

Man, these textures on PlayStation are straight up awful. Looks like a PS3 game at times! :messenger_neutral:

Just beat the Bo Soceror and mistress of night bosses and man, maybe its just me, but I feel the bosses in this game are so poorly balanced that only long sword builds are viable. I love the axes but they are absolutely worthless on the bosses.

For me, it's the opposite - axes are the best weapons in this game. They deal massive damage, break posture quickly, and stun enemies with ease. They're also the easiest to use - you can just spam the light attack nonstop while also recharging your spells.

I don't think so.

Not quite as good as Lies of P, but the level design alone smashes every other souls like outside of FROM's efforts (including LoP).

Just got to Bo Capital.

I'm pretty burned out on this game. A quick check online says I've got three bosses left, but I'm not sure I even want to finish.

EDIT: Finished. Used a guide to make sure I didn't miss out on any bosses. Demon of Obsession was definitely the hardest in the game. Kind of cheap. Made a staggerable enemy unstaggerable, aggressive as shit, and give them magic/teleportation. Overall, I enjoyed it. Still couldn't wait for it to be done, which is the first time I've felt this in a soulslike.

From games, Lies of P, and Surge 2 all beat this. Haven't played Khazan or Nioh 2 though, so those are firmly in the "we'll see" category.

Anyone that plays on base PS5 how bad are the stutters? I saw a video comparing fps in different modes, and the hard stutters looked really bad.

Has there been any patches to address this? Deciding before i buy, will just wait if not optimized.

Finally finished it. Sadly I cannot in good conscience give it more than a 6 and that is only due to its good level design. Bosses were a miserable uneven experience, the samey enemies later in the game were just retarded such as that winged dude that shoots bullets and spams all his attacks, story was eh, getting knocked down and drinking were abysmal, weapons were all dogshit, for example the axe against larger enemies and certain bosses would just not register any hits unless hit from behind, parry and dodge mechanics not working as they should and so many more little negatives that kept piling on. Will never replay it. I regret this purchase which is a rare thing to do.

I finished this 4 times already and keep going, because I want to max out the skilltree through boss drops since I already reached max level. Also have all +2 pendants and needles.

Imo, this is better and more fun than anyother soulslike, including copy paste dark souls plus elden slop. Only demon souls and bloodborne are unique and better.

The stutters and lag can be pretty annoying, but in the snowy mountain top area, first part of chapter 2, this area was insanely bad, especially in the rebel camp/area around it part. Noticed it increased when you're going through the area fast/running past enemies. I honestly thought the game crashed at times before it unfroze. Going slow and killing everything helps, but obviously when you die you'll be running past everything you know you can run past to get back there. It still happened when taking it slow in that part. No other part of the game was that bad.
There is a big update coming tomorrow or in the next few days. We know it's addressing slow healing and knockdowns, also speeding up elevators, along with various other fixes. Hopefully it has performance improvements too
