WWE head trainer steps down following mounting harassment allegations

Bill DeMott who some laps wrestling fans might remember as a coach from the WWE Tough Enough series resigned from his position as head developmental trainer for WWE earlier today. He denies the accusations but did so to "avoid embarrassment or damage to WWE"

http://www.twitlonger.com/show/niv902

This was followed a week of allegations which all began with a ex NXT trainee called Austin Matelson who did a interview somewhere and made some allegations about DeMott and his treatment in WWE developmental. These ranged from homophobic and racist insults at wrestlers to intentionally endangering talent, telling talent to kill themselves days after they paid respects to a wrestler who commuted suicide and more. He wrote a letter to WWE HR about it but little was done and eventually word reached back to DeMott. I guess he didnt last much longer with the company after that.

This blew up on twitter and eventually #firedemott was trending. WWE issued a pretty boiler plate response about how it holds its staff to the highest standards.

Following this plenty of ex WWE talent came out backing the stories up.

Then another allegation popped up from a anonymous female wrestler about the atmosphere in WWE developmental and alleged Bill would cover up the sexual harassment from another trainer who would take lewd photos of the women while they trained and in general be a total dirtbag.

http://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/2y5iiv/bill_demott_and_sexual_harassment_coverup/

She also includes proof of the photo taking since the idiot would post them on social media.

A quote from her about the atmosphere under DeMott.

“In developmental, Bill scared us so much that it made us ashamed and scared to speak up about anything. The few people who have come forward have alluded to some of what I want to talk about, but understand that this is a harder story to tell. … In all instances of complaining about sexual harassment…, women have been forced out of the company. After one of the talents’ dismissal, when we couldn’t figure out where she went, we were told (by DeMott), ‘If you go over my head, ask HER how well that works.’

“At any level, women who speak up for themselves are disposable.”

Since then plenty of ex WWE trainees and talent who have worked with DeMott have come out to back up the allegations as well as make their own. I tried to write a more detailed listing the allegations but their are so many and it goes back years.

Here is the reddit megathread about it. If you are interested it goes into great detail about everything because there is a lot more to go through.

Now that he has resigned his temporary replacement will be Matt Bloom AKA Albert AKA Tensai who by all accounted is meant to be a pretty swell guy.

Seemed like a messed up situation. From DeMott to WWE HR being incompetent boobs and letting it happen for years since its been known for a long time the guy was a real POS.

No one found his antics Hugh Morris :(

In all seriousness, it sounds like he cleaned up his act in the recent years (all these stories are from 2013, and by most accounts he's been on his best behaviour since then), but he should have been fired back then instead of being given a second chance.

Good. There were so many horrible stories confirmed by so many different sources that I strongly doubt that they were fabricated. Dude is an abusive, sexist, racist, homophobic bastard.

So basically he gets out scott free and WWE doesn't have to go through bad press in the mainstream media and endless investigations.

Bill Demont is toxic, gross, patently offensive, and unapologetically racist. I am incredibly outraged.

So his punishment is a cushy desk job? People need to keep pushing this until they fire him.

Good luck on that, the E has been known for hearing about abuse and looking the other way. Del Rio, Richardo and Punk are just the recent examples.

I wonder if Triple H taking over the management of WWE developmental is part of why he has been cleaning his act up in the last year or two.

Big Dave on the Observer Radio Breaking News bit they did today mentions that he heard that one day someone had to "Find a room" for HHH and Bill at a live event and that HHH basically gave him a Come to Jesus speech, and he's been fine since then.

Like, I get that this is how Wrestlers used to train- Jericho tweeted that he went through far worse stuff while training and wouldn't trade it for the world, and it's basically how things have always been. The problem is that it is not only 2015 and shit like that does not fly, and they are now a PUBLICLY TRADED company that has standards. Bill probably thought he was doing nothing wrong, and that's probably why he didn't get fired when all this happened in 2013

Need to keep on WWE until Bill is fired. A new desk job just means more or less a promotion.

Best of luck to Tensai. He is from all accounts a pretty nice guy. Guess he is going to have to move from Phoenix though if he is going to be trainer in Florida.

From what I've been reading, it sounds like he's actually completely gone from the company. No solid confirmation though.

I wouldn't say that since he just lost his job to yet another social media lynching.

Did you actually read the accusations? It sounded like they were put through hell.

Something like this shouldn't be tolerated. He deserves to be fired but he won't (of course).

WWE will probably rehire him 6 months down the line once they think people have forgotten.

I am not exactly sure what they would do with him if they did rehire him.

He will easily be replaced by another wrestler at the end of his run. WWE has no shortage of guys they can pick for the role who currently work for the company or work elsewhere that they could hire and they all have better wrestling experience then DeMott.

They are not going to make him a road agent for the main roster.

The only Big Dave I know is Big Dave Batista.

If it were a real company, this would probably be a big scandal. But since they're still just a bunch of fuckin' carnies, sweep it under the rug and give him a coushy job elsewhere.

Jericho deleted the tweet when he probably actually read about what Demott was doing. That's not shit he experienced while training.

Never understood why they hired this jobber to be the head trainer. His ring work back in WCW was pretty mediocre at best as well. Good riddance I guess. Now we just gotta wait for Hayes to be future endeavored.

Always wondered how somebody on the lower WCW card got a job as a WWE trainee like on TEN. He was barley ok in WCW. Not even a mid carder lol.

I was surprised he was hired too.

I thought they would try to get someone like Lance Storm or Hardcore Holly.

Great workers don't necessarily make great trainers. WWE tried Bobby Eaton as a trainer in 2013, it didn't work.

Lance Storm didn't want the job, he wanted to stay in Canada. Hardcore Holly would probably have been worse than Hugh Morris.

Multiple people have come forward over this and have even been fired for doing so. There are also pictures to support some of the claims. Let's not pretend he's a victim here.
