What is NXT Takeover? It is a live 2 hour special event which is basically the PPV events for the WWE NXT brand. NXT is WWE's developmental territory run by Triple H. The product is often much better than the main roster and this show has several potential match of the year candidates.

NXT Championship Match
Sami Zayn (c) vs. Kevin Owens

Following a volatile match contract signing, the hotly anticipated Feb. 11 showdown between NXT Champion Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, originally a non-title match, will now be contested for Zayn’s NXT Championship. Enraged, and focused on settling the score with Owens, Zayn agreed to defend his title after NXT’s most controversial prizefighter scoffed at the original terms of the match and demanded higher stakes.

Former friends, Zayn’s and Owens’ careers have been intertwined from almost the very start, and with Owens’ much-ballyhooed arrival to NXT in December came big expectations that the two warriors would end up in the same ring eventually, either as partners or opponents.

What nobody could have expected, however, was the vicious and unforgiving manner in which Owens betrayed his longtime ally at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution, powerbombing Zayn onto the ring apron moments after Zayn’s hard-fought NXT Championship win. The scary attack sidelined the newly crowned champion for weeks, and when Zayn finally did return, he was again attacked by the dangerous Owens.

This all set the stage for Zayn’s plea to NXT General Manager William Regal for a match against Owens on Feb. 11, a fight that now also has NXT’s top prize on the line.

NXT Championship No. 1 Contender's Tournament Finals
Adrian Neville vs. Finn Bálor

At NXT TakeOver: Rival, the next Superstar to challenge for the NXT Title will be determined when Adrian Neville and Finn Bálor go toe-to-toe in the NXT Championship No. 1 Contender’s Tournament Final.

For weeks, the NXT Universe has watched excitedly as a field of eight Superstars has been winnowed down to just Neville and Bálor. The Man Who Gravity Forgot, who held the NXT Title for nearly 10 months before falling to current champion Sami Zayn, advanced to the final round by defeating Tyson Kidd and then Baron Corbin. Irish-born sensation Bálor, meanwhile, stomped his way into the finals with wins over Curtis Axel and respected ally Hideo Itami.

At TakeOver: Rival, the two dynamic and highly popular Superstars will meet for the first time in an NXT ring. What can the world expect to see when Neville’s blink-and-you-missed strike combinations and aerial artistry are pitted against Bálor’s world-renowned arsenal?

Will Neville leap back into the NXT Title scene just months after losing the championship? Or will Bálor, who has taken away the collective breath of the NXT Universe since debuting in September, force his way into title contention for the first time?

How do I watch NXT Takeover?

It is available live on the WWE Network which is usually only $9.99 per month, but it is free for new subscribers in February!

Simply go to http://www.wwe.com/wwenetwork and create an account.

It is also available the next day with a Hulu Plus subscription.

You can also watch past episodes of WWE NXT to catch up to the Live Event on both the WWE Network and Hulu Plus.

I hope Itami finally busts out the GTS and it's on Breeze! I hope Breeze goes full Zoolander in the follow up interview.

95% chance that this event will be better than WWE's next PPV Fastlane.

65% chance it's more entertaining than WrestleMania

Lock this thread, apparently someone else called creating the OT and I stepped on toes by doing it earlier than they wanted.

As someone who only got into NXT recently (I started with R-Evolution, but i have been watching what the Network has up), I am unreasonably excited for this.

The top two matches are going to be so, so good.

This should be a fun show. I'm really excited, and like a previous poster said, WWE Network is free this month, so take the time to watch.

Bull Dempsey vs Baron Corbin to determine who has the worst look in pro wrestling today

Corbin's got a decent look and great ring presence. He just needs some more matches with opponents who aren't Bull Dempsey.

Bull Dempsey looks like a bully on a 6th grade playground and for some reason I find that hilarious and thus enjoy when he shows up.

Bull literally looks soft. Like, to the touch. Body shaming I know, but in this business, your physique is your resume.

I don't think I can ever recall seeing a women's Fatal 4 Way before.

Also I love Owens's shirts, the KO and Fight Me are great.

If they let Bull Dempsey do moves that are actually aided by how he looks, like running into people and spears and shit, I wouldn't mind it. He's probably a better wrestler than Corbin, but his look is way worse. Corbin didn't impress me at all in his semifinals match in that tournament.

Generico vs Steen. Ah, their great feud in ROH in 2010.
I really need to start watching NXT.

Yep, you get a continuation of the best indie feud of the past decade and a rematch of one of the better New Japan matches of the past few years.

Is Corbin supposed to be any good? All the matches I've seen with him last only like 2 minutes.

He still needs a lot of work in NXT before going to the main roster, but he's good.

He has intensity, which is something a lot of guys don't have.

I'd say he needs to work on his ring skills and he needs the right gimmick to capture his intensity.

Same here, jumped in with REvolution and haven't looked back. Best WWE product by far.

Hope Balor can get up and be #1 contender! Huge fan of the dude. Main event will hopefully pull out all the stops and be another classic for them.

With a lot of work, I could see Corbin being the guy to step into the Undertaker gimmick, or something similar.

He has that same feel about him.

Ew. Never.

He just looks goofy.

Now Harper on the other hand. Harper is legitimately creepy, has an incredible presence, and is actually great to watch. And he cuts great promos.

Corbin is the Roman Reigns of NXT, but a lot worse.
