WWE Raw drops to lowest TV rating in 18 years

Well, at least the thread title is accurate again.

Honestly, it's hard to really care about Raw since it all just seems like spinning wheels till the draft. They can take a near-literal giant eraser to every feud and rivalry with the brand split so it's really hard to justify parking oneself on the couch for three hours.

There is negative percent chance the draft helps Raw's ratings and if anything, it's the last chance they have at saving SD's

Just heard the news about Roman.

Do they keep pushing him when he comes back, or nah?

Also, glad as hell Vince was reminded he still employs Sasha Banks. Put the goddamn championship on her, call up Bayley, and let them have fun already!

Roman Reigns, the Ratings Killer confirmed.

edit: The final hour not crashing on them is a big deal.
Yeah. The main event actually had a purpose this week, which would have helped.

Who would have thought that a champion that the fans actually like would have made a difference?!

If the viewership stays at this level every week while Roman's suspended (not counting July 4th obviously), it could spell the end of him as "the guy". The fact that the third hour equaled the first is gigantic.

But he can wrestle.

Is he a Daniel Bryan? No. Few people are. Is he a CM Punk? No, even if his elbow is infinitely fucking better. Ambrose is, when booked properly, a weird cross between Steve Austin and Mick Foley, a guy who does things simply to do them and gets over because he'll stare down a guy like Brock all the while knowing he's going to get his ass kicked.

Why?

Because fuck Brock Lesnar, that's why. And Ambrose has been making dog shit look like chocolate for the past two years. His booking has been horrendous, and yet he's stayed consistently over.

For at least 4 weeks they won't be slotted against anything...Zika RIO 2016 will take some viewership, then NFL will finish them off..

It'll be a split roster so the ratings are going to be lower even if they're building people up like they're supposed to during that time.

holy fuuuuuuuuuuuuck those are some shit numbers

no nba to blame them on, either

of course, they'll blame it on no roman

I wonder what their reaction will be when the draft just makes things worse. if cena and aj go to smackdown and roman is pushed as the star of raw... lol

Maybe they should stop having guys act like shmucks with gimmicks a 10 year old would write and try to go somewhere that'll let them make promos and stuff like in the 90s. For gods sake all they do is guest star and name drop their glory days from the 90s in this kid show. Just fucking leave or renegotiate the contract till you can go back to marketing this to teens and adults. Kind of hard to back characters that just take selfies, dance, and say rehashes of the same "im awesome you suck" promos.

Whoop an ass, drink a beer, show who has stroke, tell em to suck it, and let guys get over and get angry with their characters again. Sick of this fluff piece. If it wasn't for the ROH veterans and NJPW veterans on the card it wouldn't be worth watching.

the attitude era wouldn't work in 2016. The kids is all they have. IF they tried to go "adult" again their ratings would tank even worse. Teenagers and young adults in 2016 aren't checking for dude's in tights to say "suck it" and "ass" and "bitch" on basic cable anymore. that's not edgy. Kids nowadays are having snapchat orgies in the school bathroom, pro wrestling is never not corny to them.

I've never thought of it like that but its very true. That stuff worked in the 90s but it is indeed corny as shit today. WWE is making the right move going with the 13yo or so demographic these days and posting their highest annual revenues, ever.

and those ratings... that's what you get for taking the title off a handsome samoan and putting it on some homeless looking guy

Semi-related, but WWE Network finally put up the remaining episodes of WCW Monday Nitro up. Now I'm just waiting for the WCW B-shows to show up.

I haven't watched RAW in nearly 5 years. The last episode I saw was the one after MITB 2011, when CM Punk left after winning the WWE Championship. What are the biggest changes that have happened since then?

Why is there an 82 page thread on WWE tv ratings?

From what I can gather, internet wrestling fans think that if the ratings go down, their niche ideals of what wrestling should be will finally be catered to. Thus, they hope, sometimes outright cheer for WWE's failure as they continue to hate watch on a weekly basis.

Fascinating, isn't it?

Right now Roman is suspended and the Top 5 guys in WWE are now Kevin Owens, Ambrose, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn.

I think it's working!

There seems to be some rumblings backstage that Vince wants to make a redemption storyline for Roman when he comes back from his suspension, according to PWTorch:

According to Wade Keller of the Pro Wrestling Torch, Vince McMahon is planning a “redemption” storyline for Reigns once he returns to WWE programming.

McMahon wants to tell the story of how “the controversy” put Reigns down. He would then have to find a way to work his way back to what he was before and be even better than he was. McMahon feels if he creates a story in the way he would want it told, it may finally get fans to buy into Reigns and cheer for him.

This story is backed up after WWE told the world on Raw about Reigns’ suspension. Stephanie McMahon even called his failure an embarrassment to WWE. She’s not far off either as Reigns’ suspension surely didn’t make WWE look good. Roman was all over the news, and with WWE positioning him as their top guy, he let them down.

I recently started watching again because I really like the talent they have right now. I know most are just ROH and NJPQ guys who have been around forever, or guys who have been around forever but finally have something to do (I hope Kofi thanks the new and old god everyday for New Day happening), but I'm a super casual fan so they're all new to me. Plus, they have Sasha Banks, who is my wife in my head.

That said, I'm pretty sure I'll tune out again when all the guys and gals I like end up under utilized.

I see Zack Ryder and I just cry. They did him so dirty.

Vince...let it go. No one likes this guy.
