According to Variety, British actor Ben Hardy -- best known for his work on the BBC soap opera "EastEnders" -- has been cast in Fox's "X-Men: Apocalypse" film.

Though his role is as-of-yet unknown, Variety's sources report that Hardy will play a significant part in the "X-Men" universe.

Recently, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp were cast as younger versions of Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm, respectively. Considering his appearance and the casting of the other original five X-Men (Nicholas Hoult is slated to return as Beast), it's possible that the 24-year-old actor could play Warren Worthington III, better known as Angel.

James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender will also return to the franchise as Professor X, Mystique and Magneto.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled to arrive May 27, 2016.

Nothing spectacular in Eastenders.

I'd wager he's playing Angel.

According to The Wrap, this guy was rumored for Angel but apparently ended up being given a different, secret role instead.

Which I guess also confirms that there will be an Angel on this team too.

I didn't imagine there would be time in the movie for apocalyptic and his horsemen. I wonder how they will fit it all in.

Guys

Guys

I just realized Rose Bryne is coming back for this movie. I can't say enough how much I appreciate that they are so often getting recurring actors for these roles, time periods permitting. She probably won't have a big part but it's still fantastic. Decades from now someone can watch this whole series for the first time and see the same actors.

So I know technically the events of X3 never happened now after DoFP, but I assume the general timeline is still the same, right? Which is making me wonder how there's going to be all these characters as teenagers in the '80s when they were in their late-20's/early-30's in the 2000s?

Or does it not even matter?

Not really. It honestly doesn't need to be any more detailed than saying that Wolverine messing with the established time line in DOFP had a ripple effect that caused certain characters to be born earlier.

There's definitely more time travel stuff in this anyway, since Berry and Jackman are supposedly in it in some capacity.

I thought word on the street was that Jackman wasn't in it, since he's only playing Wolverine one more time and they're making Wolverine 3

Plus even in the context of the universe mentally he's not the same guy as in DoFP

Wolverine 3 doesn't even release until 2017, so that's not being shot right now. This is though and he's rumored to be in it. That's enough for me to put 2 and 2 together. That's he won't be the same guy mentally isn't really relevant. The time line was still altered and Jackman can play the character either way.

The rumors I heard is that he will make more of a cameo

Ben Hardy confirmed as Angel. (Empire)

“Ben Hardy is Angel – I shall confirm it for you!” said Singer. “But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say…”

And, as if to back that up, this piece of exclusive concept art shows Angel in two guises – with wings furled and then unfurled. And those wings look less like feathers and more like daggers. Might we also be about to meet Archangel?

That looks like one of the horsemen to me.

I think the idea of Wolverine in the X-Force costume just got a teeeeeensy bit closer to reality.

I don't understand the whole Four Horsemen arc - I haven't read the comics - but are they basically just right-hand men to Apocalypse? And horsemen, for some reason, includes Wolverine?

Apoc "recruited" different mutants to be horseman over the years, even Gambit was Death or something for a short while.

You are right that they are just glorified henchmen.

I want Apoc to cut a promo with the horsemen in the background holding up the 4 fingers.

The X roster for this movie is pretty similar to the one in Astonishing Xmen in AoA (Blink, Nightcrawler, Storm, Jean, Pietro) only it's missing Mags, Wolverine, Iceman, Colossus, Rogue, Sunfire, Sabretooth, and Bishop.

I'm thinking this would be a good time to reintroduce Sabretooth to the franchise, unless they want to save he, Gambit, and Sinister for a mutant massacre film.

Angel And Blink being teenagers doesn't make a lot of sense after X3 and DoFP, but I'm sure they'll have some convoluted healing factor/slow aging rationale.

I'm only concerned about Apocalypse's presentation. He's my favorite villain from the mutant universe, and if he looks/sounds/acts like shit, I'm not touching this movie with a 10-foot pole regardless of how good the rest of the film is.

So which is more likely - Havok and the other mutants that Mystique helped escape from the military in DoFP becoming the other horsemen, or them becoming the Brotherhood of Mutants?

I had originally assumed they would become the horsemen, since Havok makes a lot of sense as war, and they even showed one of them having some sort of poisoning (or possibly starving) power. But now I'm not so sure.

Archangel, nice! The concept art doesn't give me hope for the rest of the costumes. Singer really does hate color.
