Being A list doesn't mean you suddenly develop a distaste for making successful movies.
But it does mean you have a lot more negotiating power when determining a new contract (their current one expiring after Apocalypse).

I just want to say I am still incredibly upset by rumours of having Apocalypse be an alien who just takes over Magneto's body. It's one of the dumbest ideas I've heard for a Marvel movie...and I saw Iron Man 3!

Bryan Singer has a Napoleon complex when ti comes to this movie for some reason. Whedon talks about using Quicksilver in Avengers 2 movie, Singer shoehorns Quicksliver into his. Marvel releases a balls to a wall trailer for Winter Soldier, Singer releases a silly teaser for his movie. People start talking about the AMS 2 trailer, he tweets "I got apocalypse".
It's sad really.

Whedon first talked about Quicksilver in April 24. Filming of X-Men, with a completed script one would suppose, began on April 15. Therefore Singer couldn't have possibly been influenced by Whedon's announcement unless he, like the characters in his movie, can time travel.
