Aimi
Voiced by Jamie Chung
Birthplace: Fuji City, Japan.
Smuggled out of Japan by her mutant parents before their family could be incarcerated in the new mutant camps, Aimi arrives in San Francisco hidden on a tanker ship. She is too young and frightened to appreciate her parents’ motivations for sending her away, instead feeling only the bitterness and anger of abandonment.

adrianmc4p.jpg

Adrian
Voiced by Scott Porter
Birthplace: Los Angeles, California.
Adrian is the son of an anti-mutant extremist who was killed in battle. His father’s associates called themselves “Purifiers,” and under their care Adrian was educated to hate all mutants and conditioned to seek revenge for his father’s murder. The Purifiers have trained Adrian to be a soldier in their army of “pure-blooded” Homo sapiens.

grant0et5.jpg

Grant
Voiced by Milo Ventimiglia
Birthplace: Sandersville, Georgia.
Grant is a college freshman with dreams of playing pro football. He hopes to land a spot this year on the University of California, Berkeley, varsity squad. Grant has zero interest in politics and knows little about the ongoing mutant/human conflict.

Apparently, there are also Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii versions coming, developed by Silicon Knights though. First prototype was started in early 2009 after The Ritualist (=The Box) was canned by THQ. It runs on Silicon Knights' very own engine, also on Wii.

Previews:

That's a really wild, original development choice, and it makes X-Men Destiny really stand out, both visually and in that extra bit of gameplay. Why doesn't the combat sparkle like that? Why stick with the boring light/heavy attack scheme that every third-person combat game uses? "You've got dual analog from Too Human -- that was very, very different," says Dyack. Okay, sure, though maybe that didn't work out so well.

n the end, we had a fun little romp through X-Men journey, but this demo was a brief one that didn't allow us to spend much time inside the gameworld. Naturally, the big question left with this particular game is how much depth you'll be able to mine out of the game's relatively simple control scheme, and how much of an impact your choices have over the events of the game. It's certainly an interesting approach to the X-Men license, which alone leaves us eager to see how this title turns out.

There’s definitely room for improvement, but X-Men: Destiny is without a doubt the most original concept for an X-Men game, and it’s shaping up to be an intriguing exploration of the mythos’ core concepts. It may take some serious precognition powers to know just how well this one will turn out, but fans of the X-Men universe can at least look forward to taking part in the world of mutants with their own gifted youngster later this holiday.

While the combat tactics aren’t entirely original, the elements being mixed in with X-Men Destiny do keep things interesting enough, and there’s no shortage of Purifiers and other classic X-Men villains to face off against. Sadly, you’ll be doing so on your own, as the game doesn’t contain any sort of co-op factor. We were hoping for that, but Silicon Knight was shooting for a single-player experience to shine through here.

Ok, now I see why they didn't show off this deep and meaningful morality system much:

Activision is kinda sending this game out to die, aren't they? I didn't realize it was coming out so soon until I looked at Best Buy's ad for next week.

Brilliant OP, though. :lol

A X-men game without playable logan? lolol.

Actually im impressed that someone actually stepped out of the box and did something new with the X-men universe..I might purchase it for that reason alone

Hehehe..was like "Wat? isn't this game coming to consoles too? Guess that's another one"...

...then saw the second post. :p

EDIT:
Interesting, ignored that Northstar was in this game. :)

Wait the developers of Dark Void Zero are working on this? There's hope for the DS version then.

I doubt it, they did not get a proper budget for this title.

I wonder what the Wii version will look like. It's SK's first Wii game.

So its a brawler with a X-men theme, but you wont play as the x-men.

And yet that first person Avengers game got canned

Darklord

So it has no co-op, no iconic playable characters, pre-order skins look like they are placeholders and it looks like shit. OH COOL.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Actvision might be huge because of CoD and Blizzard but beyond that they fucking suck in quality and in business.

This game will be a great rental that i can come on gaf to call horrible. Does anyone have any positive expectations for this game? If it's even remotely good i will be pleasantly surprised.

I've followed this and tried to get hyped for it, but as far as I can tell, the only thing related to it that I like is Jamie Chung.

Is there not going to be a demo for this game? If one comes out soon, I'll try it and make a decision then. If not, I'll pick it up for $15-$20 in a couple months.

It looks terrible, is developed by SK and Activision is sending it out to die. I expected it to majorly suck.

Given the virtual stealth release, the chances of a demo showing up before release are incredibly unlikely.

Few DS titles receive an in-store or Nintendo Channel demo these days, so it's really doubtful that we'll get one. I think there was only one game in Europe which received a demo on a game card...that was Rhythm Paradise.

For the other versions, SK hates demos since Too Human.

After Silicon Knights last demo, that's probably the correct move.

When they showed off Too Human they got crap since everyone thought it looked pretty bad. (which it kinda was, lol).

Instead of learning to NOT make bad games, they seem to have instead learned not to show off their games early anymore.

Pretty big X-Men fan, so I'll probably give it a playthrough after it bombs. Ashame that there doesn't seem to be a demo coming.

See this is what makes me think it looks real bad.

Dear lord the Col and Wolvy look like shit.

Still when it hits 10 dollars I will probably grab it as well.

The new Deadly Premonition

Nah, this game lacks any kind of personality whatsoever, at least give DP that. This is just a less than mediocre attempt of a g̶a̶m̶e̶ thing.

This thread also lacks the very much expected "against" jokes ;P

In this an action-adventure role-playing game, based on characters from the X-Men universe, players assume the role of mutants caught up in a political struggle against humans. Players punch and kick both human and mutant enemies in frequent melee-style combat, often using mutant abilities (e.g., shockwaves, colorful projectiles, augmented limbs) to knock opponents to the ground; some battle moves are highlighted with slow-motion effects. A handful of scenes depict other instances of violence: an incapacitated mutant getting beaten with an electrical baton; a man getting hurled through a window. Some female characters are depicted in form-fitting outfits that reveal moderate amounts of cleavage, and one cutscene includes some mild innuendo (e.g., “Then I'll pick out some girls for you freaks.”/“Hey, find me a chick with super flexibility!”). The words “hell,” “damn,” and “a*s” can be heard in the dialogue.

Alright.

I didn't realize this was coming out so soon. Don't know why it gets so much hate, though it does look kinda generic. I'm actually kind of interested in it, though I may wait till a super price drop. Which, honestly, will probably happen before the end of the year.

I doubt SK has any real passion for X-Men. They are only developing this to fund Too Human 2. Uninformed parents/grandparents will buy this game up for their kids the holiday I bet.

This is just like Game Dev Story! Make crappy sequel to fund your next project. SO TRUE!!!!

Y'know, I was kinda interested in this game, even though I knew that at best it was going to be worth an average rental. A shame they canceled the console versions though.

It looks interesting enough for me, I dig some of the stuff Ive seen actually. I placed an order when Amazon dropped the pre-orders to $44.99 w/RDD and a $10 dollar credit.
