Xbox Game Pass General Discussion

Started Moonglow Bay to try it out, needed something casual I could play over lunch breaks and what not. As someone who loved Stardew Valley, I can already feel myself getting hooked on this. Its drugs are quick.

Been thinking of installing Mortal Shell but this last update is fantastic. Did end up installing a few titles last night... let's see... they were Battlesector, Anvil, and I swear one more game. Also what the they added Archvale and rubber bandits since last night

Im unironically loving Lawnmower Simulator. Just did a 40 min job. Felt great when it was all done.
Goddamn it you are going to make me download this.

I secretly wanted to play it since it was announced, but wanted to stop myself.

Rubber Bandits is a fun game to play with friends or family. It's like Gang Beasts with weapons built around a heist mode. 4 players make a rush for the loot and then try to make for the exit. You beat the shit out of the people with money and try to take it and get out yourself. Sometimes you have to flip a switch or activate a platform to open the vault or the exit, so that adds a level of craziness. It has 2-4 player local mp/co-op and 2-4 player online mp/co-op.

I wasn't expecting much from Marvel's Avengers but I'm still disappointed in how bad it is. At least I have free space on my XSX again.

……So powerfully mid. I really don’t get this gamepass shit. I really don’t.

Outside of plague….

It's all taste but I am personally interested in Starfield, Redfall (based on the devs track history), Replaced, Plagues Tail, Atomic Heart (it has a quirky Bioshock feeling), Somerville, Hello Neighbour 2 and Trek to Yomi. I will try Total War but much more of a historically based Total War player.

The obv thing right my g. Is to say just buy it. But I understand there is some structure that is supposed to be some huge like deal for people or something.

I get it and I don’t lol.

For me, it's simply because games here cost 79.99 + 13% tax. Having stuff at $1 or $5 is a godsend.

I do buy games that I end up liking, I do the same with my video/movies, I will watch something on a streaming service or via piracy then if i like it, i will get the blu-ray. it also actually makes me a bit more picky about games and whether i finish them. Dropped Astria Ascending cause it wasn't that great.

I’m bout me spending as little as money as possible and getting as much value for my money as possible 😂

you gotta convince me. Im not spending money cause I like something. When it comes to entertainment or anything really. That’s why I haven’t gotten a next gen console yet and decided to go master race in the mean time..finally.

somehow haven’t figured this out with drugs. Smh lol.

Did a quick pull of my games and upto 42 games bought this year.

I don't think you get much better value for money than GP if you do the whole frontloading gold and then converting. I think it's averaging around 5/6 quid a month for me aka one new AAA game.

Yeah, you do you in terms of your finances. I also play on PC so definitely am on the GPU sub and buy the playanywhere games that interest me but ehh, think we have detoured the thread enough.

My Game Pass expires soon (after nearly two years "free" from Microsoft for various purchases and promotions), looking for a deal on a year of PC Game Pass. Or at least six months. Anyone have any leads?

$180 for 3 full priced games vs a year of hundreds of games? Seems obvious to me, especially since I rarely replay games. That and the fact that I don’t like everything I play.

The ever growing Xbox Game Pass library is a good problem to have, but it can be a little overwhelming. So from It Takes Two to Aliens: Fireteam Elite, here's a list of games worth checking out.

It's likely you're still playing Halo Infinite, but if you ever decide to take a break from fighting the Banished, here's some other games that might interest you.

In this video, we'll go over the action RPG Scarlet Nexus, the newly added Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and It Takes Two, which was awarded Game Of The Year at the 2021 Game Awards. During the Game Awards, Alan Wake 2 was announced. It's the long awaited sequel to the fan favorite from studio Remedy Entertainment, the developer responsible for Max Payne, Control, and Quantum Break. Alan Wake isn't on Game Pass, but its action spin-off Alan Wake: American Nightmare is, along with other Remedy hits like Control and Quantum Break.

Game Pass also saw the arrival of Mortal Kombat 11, The Gunk, Broken Age, and many others.

00:00 - Intro
00:27 - Scarlet Nexus
01:11 - Aliens: Fireteam Elite
01:43 - Alan Wake: American Nightmare
02:40 - Control
03:16 - Quantum Break
03:30 - Deep Rock Galactic
04:04 - Lawn Mowing Simulator
04:53 - Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator
05:48 - It Takes Two
06:50 - Code Vein
07:35 - Outro

Aliens Fireteam is pretty fun in online coop. Demolisher class is definitely the most fun.

I played with a buddy last night and we had a good time beyond me getting kicked from two matches right before the end of levels. We finished Priority One and the first mission in Giants In The Earth. Replaying some of the levels today, I was hoping for more randomization in the levels as they seem built for that but it didn't seem like anything changed beyond the location of the secrete cache. The levels themselves are a little monotonous but it is a budget title. The perk system seems a little overly complicated.

Agreed. It's clearly a AA game, but some parts look kinda nice honestly. I'm enjoying it, but it's not something I'd wildly recommend to people to spend money on. Kind of reminds me of some 360 era shooters like Binary Domain. I'm enjoying it more than I expected.

I almost picked up Aliens during BF and honestly if I had, I wouldn't be disappointed.

I'd say Binary Domain is great. I'm going to pick it up again once the digital version goes on sale.

So how do we create a poll about game pass usage in this thread? because looks like that's what the mods are telling us to do..
Post in thread 'Game Pass users - What percentage of you gaming time did you spend on Game Pass games this year?
Edit: Mod comment for context

More adventures in Game Pass:

-Unpacking has been popping up on a lot of GOTY lists so I finally spent some time with it. I've finished three years so far. Seeing the items kept through the years is an interesting way of subtlety telling a story. The hidden achievements are pretty fun. The game itself is mostly okay but I think some of the pixel art is kind of poor and makes readability of what an object is difficult at times.
-Deeeer Simulator...oh deer.
-I played a little bit of The Gunk this morning. It seems to lack any of the charm of the Steamworld games. It seems solid mechanically.

I`ve been wondering, why isn`t there any VR games on PC Game pass? Did they ever talk about this? Some of their studios did VR games which could make for some good additions to the service:
- Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin
- Frostpoint VR: Proving Grounds
- The Mage's Tale
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR
- Fallout 4 VR
- Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot
- Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice VR
- Doom VFR

Dilutes the service honestly for the vast majority of GP users that don't have VR. VR is just a separate thing requiring a separate investment.

How would that dilutes the service? It's not like they need to remove games to add those. They already own those games so it wouldn't cost anything more.

I'm not saying they should add more third party vr games, just add those they already have.

Ah, I see what you're saying. I guess they could if they wanted.

Not exactly what you're talking about, but there are multiple games on PC Gamepass that do support VR like No Man's Sky. They don't really advertise it at all within GP though, and they probably don't see much to gain from adding VR only titles to the service

There's a few. FS2020, No Man's Sky, Tetris Effect, Star Wars Squadrons. I wouldn't mind more VR games, but who knows how many GP PC players there even are, let alone with headsets, and MS doesn't seem too interested in pushing VR.

Now that there are sites like gamepassport.net and psnowguide it's very easy to see the data about GP and competitors' programs.

Anyway here's quick data for people wondering about the quality of GP. First for console:

RYA1prb.jpg

There are now 185 games above 80 MC on GamePass, for an average Metascore of 78.47 (almost half a point up compared to last year).

wXRwYkS.jpg

85.06% of GamePass games are 70+ Metascore and 46.84% of GamePass games are 80+ Metascore.

Now for PC:

e20ELjW.jpg

There are now 147 games above 80 MC on PC GamePass, for an average Metascore of 77.73 (slightly down from 78.04 last year).

GksqkVT.jpg

84.19% of GamePass games are 70+ Metascore and 47.42% of GamePass games are 80+ Metascore.

Now if you want to see a comparison with PSNow:

ykJB93E.jpg

Uogqbbr.jpg

vlx5XGF.jpg

vwjTELS.jpg

The average PSNow game was released on 14/05/2013 (averaged from release years, I don't have month/day).
The average GP game (same method) was released 11/06/2017 - over four years later.

The Pedestrian and Pupperazzi look great. Olija is Devolver Digital, so likely great. Mass Effect is nice. Lighter month, but still stuff I want to play.

Ubi+ is only coming to xbox, not game pass. Stil , it's pretty nice to have more options.
Thank you for clarifying that, I obviously stopped reading closely and was way too excited. While I am less excited about that, maybe it will make in roads for it to get folded into GP.

Saw DF’s The Gunk video today. First time I’d seen gameplay. Thought it’d be something else, it looks absolutely brilliant. Installed and going to give it a go.

I'm pretty early on, but it's really, really boring, lacks the charm of the Steamworld games and the small budget is easily noticeable.
