I doubt they allocated a whopping 80% of stock for America leaving only 200k for EU regions. What I want to know is what is the split between NA and the rest of the world? If its like 800K in NA and 200K in the other countries that is impressive for NA with the higher price but lackluster for the rest of the world.
I doubt these kind of numbers will be kept a secret. Too juicy.we'll never get real numbers unless microsoft beats sony. we'll have to wait for NPD next month to know. even then i expect percentages then.
1 million worldwide vs. 1 million in US in 24 hours for both
but for all intensive purposes they sold the same : please understand.
Im pretty sure he is talking about xbone being readily available at launch (now) because ps4 has been sold out for ages now and will not b readily available next friday at all. Every store is saying 2014 for next shipments. When is PS4 hitting AU, same as EU?
Its kinda sad to see some of the posts in here trying to down play the xbox sales. I due wonder how many would have been sold if they kept the drm.

This is what should be worrying MS in my opinion. The PS4 sold 1 million in NA alone. It took 13 countries to match that number. Next Friday is going to be insane with the European and South American launches.
I'm somewhat more skeptical of any "sold out" claims, although I don't know what the situation is in the US. It seems readily available here in AU.
GTA V's massive success is proof that people are still willing to buy $60 AAA games.A little too early to start saying this. Who buys consoles Day 1 isn't the mobile games market, it's the hardcore crowd that were eager for a new plastic toy to replace a moribund last-gen console. The big question of the industry changes is the casual market not the hardcore crowd.
The test will begin next year when supply meets demand and the casual market starts buying (or not) this consoles.
I don't think this past week proves console gaming is far from dead honestly, unless the supposition was that there were only 3 million core gamers!
There were like, what, 260 million consoles this gen? It's going collapse this time around...that's the issue.

Crazy. I guess all of that pre launch drama really did mean fuck all.

Also if it's xbox history only, did the ps4 do better numbers in NA alone than the xbox did WW?
seems weird.
According to Penello this was a matter of supply more than demand.
Went to EB(Australia) to pay off my PS4 preorder this morning, still a few XBOne's available. They had a few Day One editions sitting around as wel, although for all I know they could have been preorders that hadn't been picked up.
True. Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I love reading how people are enjoying the system.
As for the numbers, as people have said it's great for the industry (after all the reports of the "death" of consoles) to see the sheer amount of interest and excitement with consumers and the media over this. It's really amazing.
Sony chose a different path for launch, so an apples-to-apples comparison is impossible. We had X number of units to sell and we chose to launch in all our launch territories. Sony had X number and chose to focus on North America. Neither was better than the other.
In this circumstance, comparing our US number vs. their US number would be like comparing our UK number to their UK number. They don't have any in the UK yet, so it's not a fair comparison.
Both consoles I think will be hard to get through the holidays.
And I love how "yield issues" is still a thing. What was the precise number we needed to make for that to go away? There were no yield issues.
Online inventory thing only updates so many times a day at most retail and some only update once a day. Its incredibly unreliable to rely on that on hot items especially on launch day
Really? The PS4 is sold out until early 2014 not the Xbox One. You can pretty much walk into any store and pick one up, EB, JB, Target, Big W and Harvey Norman all still have stock here. Both online and in store.Yeah i was told almost 2 months ago when i tried to pre-order by JB, EB, Target and Harvery Norman 'Sold out until early 2014'. Xbox 360 is/was fairly popular here aswell.
Right, so some niche Japanese games that won't even make use of that extra power will probably skip the Xbox because of its performance in Japan. But the big titles will be on both. Neither is going to end up in a Wii U situation. You'll be able to play the next Mass Effect or Grand Theft Auto no matter which one you pick.
Those niche Japanese titles would have been on the PlayStation even if the Xbox sold more worldwide anyway because their main market is domestic.
Except next week they will have not have sold the same and the PS4 will have a heck of a lot more units out there.
Crazy. I guess all of that pre launch drama really did mean fuck all.
With all the shit the XB1 has gotten since its reveal I'm sure MS is thrilled with these numbers.
Thats not really impressive when you have 13 countries, it probably sold half of what the ps4 did in america and thats not a good sign at all.
They are pretty even in America. It's the rest of the world where the differences can be seen.
Ther is a reason why alot of people consider America/NA the battleground of launch
edit: this is worldwide? huh so what was the NA sales......
Again... the Xbox One still hasn't been out for a full day yet.
