I think this is Goldeneye but I would of expected it to be released alongside the next film/game. Activision allowing it as it would boost the profile of their own title (Think TMNT). The film is due out in November so it seems far too early for print exclusives.

The 'exclusive' could just be that they've got solid proof of it's existence rather than a full, condoned report.

There was a quote from a couple mouths ago about how they were going to open up Xbox live a lot more and they seemed to emphasize that point. Most people are thinking and expecting just some XNA stuff but i think it could be more than that.

This could be a new addition to the service. Xbox originals is still a recent addition and shows that Microsoft want to keep adding layers to XBL and looking at the success of Warhawk and Steam as a possible stimulus. I think if it is Goldeneye a Warhawk more Sony and Steam like model seems plausible. Also such a big and well known game like Goldeneye would be a great way to push a possible new addition to the service and a good way to test the waters

Well it would still pretty much be Goldeneye, so it wouldn't have the confusing level design or weak story of PDZ.

They paid for the game with their money, much like they did for Rare's DS work (and I'm sure MS is quite happy to be earning money from a Nintendo IP). And much like the writers guild of america, they probably weren't satisfied with what they were getting and they put their foot down? Let's see what the mag says the "real" story is before the speculation runs rampant, however.

See, I figured that if there were a Goldenye heading to XBLA there might be a few new textures, skyboxes etc... but for the most part the game would look pretty similar to the original N64 version (albeit rendered at 720p). The more we see of the picture the more it looks like a complete overhaul, so I'm starting to think its looking a bit more ambitious than I had imagined. A bit too ambitious, if you get my meaning.
