Installing now. Didn't want to have to wait an entire day to DL 13gb so I opted to spend an extra 20 bucks for convenience purposes and buy it at retail. special edition was the only version available so I had to pay 60 bucks. :(

So is there any word on if the PC version will be moddable or not? How hard is classic mode compared to the original and how easy is normal mode for the XCOM vets here?

Are there any other tutorials online that I can use to circumvent using the in-game ones? I'd rather not sacrifice Africa as a potential base because tutorial disables them.

I just picked it up with futureshop's trade in 2 deal.

I am glad to get it but don't know when I will actually play it.

So I'm assuming Ironman is the way to go for this game? I know if I don't turn it on I will make sure I save and reload each time any of my guys die. Now the next question is Classic Ironman or normal ironman? help me gaf!

Go either Normal Ironman or Classic Ironman, but either way, definitely make it Ironman.

Also, go Classic Ironman.

that's why i am going ironman. i don't have the willpower to accept the consequences of my actions. too bad real life doesn't have a save anywhere feature!

I'm stuck between Classic-Ironman and Classic-Vanilla. On one hand Ironman creates tension like no other and a better overall gameplay experience. But then again you may have an AWFUL day due to dice-roll mechanics and rookies...

That's why I'm going with ironman.

Imagine playing Dark Souls with the ability to save and reload anywhere. It would be a completely different game, in a very bad way.

For some reason this makes me even more excited to play Classic+Ironman.

arrrg...90 minutes to go...I think the shakes are starting. The clock is laughing at me.

Anyhow, for those of you who have completed the tutorial is it worth going through? I played the first two missions before work this morning, so I'm wondering if I should continue, or just start over tutorial-less. Kinda want complete control, but if there is valuable information to be learned than I'll stick with it.

I wonder what happens if you end a mission by blowing up your last soldier and the last alien at the same time with, like, a UFO power source explosion or something.

AAAAHHH I want to go home.

Is there a reason I can't capture/stun a thin man? I just reloaded like 4 times with a 70% chance to hit and have missed all of them.

Can't lose in Dark Souls and your abilities are not gone if you die :) I love DS, but I'm just going to do Normal difficulty for XCOM.

Cruising along (on normal ironman, shutup I said I'm weak) only lost one squaddie to a burning car. Yeah, they blow a little faster than I expected, for some reason I thought I'd have another turn to shotgun the sectoid then run away. Alas.

But now my first terror mission. I'm not ready to start losing by sergeants and corporals dammit!

Christ everyone is dying all over this thread. It's like a real-life D-Day as someone else mentioned. I'm saving color schemes/character customization number-codes because I lost some awesome characters. I'm role-playing the idea of having a cloning machine for my most elite soldiers who have passed away.

RIP John Gunwood [USA] and Slick McBryant [UK]. You will be cloned on my next playthrough. I make more over-the-top or bro-names for western soldiers.

Hmm I was thinking of going classic iron man but so many impressions saying classic is hard. I don't want to lose multiple soldiers in every fight. I'm now thinking normal iron man.

My first Terror mission went well on Normal. Killed 3 Cryssalids with Overwatch but one hit a soldier. Luckily he had a nano-fibre vest and as a Sarge, extra health. Took a zombie down with 2 criticals to its head. Having a 5 man team really helped. Probably would have lost with just a 4 man team. 2 heavies with scopes worked well too.

What? I distinctly remember there was system link multiplayer when the devs demoed it in some youtube clip.
