Interesting tidbit: the PAL version of Metroid Prime lets you choose betwen "vanilla" PAL and PAL-60 when you boot up the game.
SO, I understand the issue is only present in Dolphing and older TV sets. In the actual hardware with the right options enabled that that wouldn't be a problem, right?
