What is it with Japan and not finishing games? The game clearly wasn't done, or they were making something else and had to scrap it halfway through to make something else once they realized the Wii U wasn't selling like hotcakes.

Man, that's just terrible. Flashbacks of MGSV right now.

What're you talking about? This game is insanely huge and feels very complete, even though I have a few bones to pick with it. It doesn't seem scoped as a game that was "remade" halfway.

ahahaha

So I was at Sylvalum and a level 46 tyrant spawned on top of me.

I was super bored, so I decided to just run over it again and again on my skell until I killed it.

HAHAHAHAHA that was worth it

Well, ending aside, I think there's a lot of half-baked ideas in this game. I don't think it was remade halfway, but I think they definitely had something else in mind.

It definitely doesn't come off as something compromised, save for the graphical and budgetary limitations. They threw everything and the kitchen sink into this thing.

Just found Boze for his final h2h...I love NLA.

Be sure to load up on beam weapons for that fight, makes it much easier.

Are you referring to the first fight, against the
Zu Pharg
? If so, I had just finished equipping my Skells with what I thought were good (but not beam) weapons before reading your post, and just got steamrolled. I might have to revisit my loadout and go for beam weapons instead.

Either way, dying before getting that boss down even 10% caused me to put the game down for the night. Maybe tomorrow.

I haven't quite finished it yet, but to me it's clear the story was secondary in this game, as to where in XC it was the highlight. It's definitely possible they had more ambitious plans, but save for the small annoyances (why are there no GODDAMN audio volume sliders?!), I've found that it feels like a complete game so far. Given, a complete game that's not 100% what I had hoped for, but complete.

This mirrors my feelings. I've barely even had a chance to properly understand augments and "battle traits" or whatever those are.

Yea, that's exactly what I was talking about. Beam weapons get a bonus against mech enemies and the beam swords get an additional bonus on top of that bonus. Also, that fight forces you to learn to focus fire on individual body parts. Do those two things, while being sure to murder adds, and you'll steam roll the fight.

THE OTHER DIALOGUE OPTION IS EVEN WORSE! HAHAHAHAHA

So...I thought there were just like 2 more normal mission markers on my map...there are 9. That doesn't necessarily mean 9 individual missions but still.

How do I get these? Damn.

recruited! And she's not leaving my team.

I don't think you gotta worry about spoiler tagging character names. They've all been getting spoiled regularly at this point. I do appreciate it though. I'm still salty about some of the stuff that's been spoiled for me in this game.

How do I get into this closed off area in the floating island in Oblivia?

I can just land my skell on the ledge, but it's foot is just barely clipping onto the land so when I get out I just fall off.

If you're referring to the main story, it was mentioned in Iwata Asks that at the start of the game's development Takahashi wrote an extensive story bible with the team only using part of it for XCX. It seems like the game was intended to be the start of a larger series like Xenosaga instead of having a self-contained plot like the first Xenoblade.

However, that isn't including the rewrite that happened later on in development when the voiced protagonist was changed to an avatar.

Over 100 hours in and I'm still finding new places in Primordia and Oblivia, I say goddamn.

FYI, here's an augment/material search engine that I found to be incredibly convenient and useful.

You can look up any augment or material (as well as any Skell frame, Skell Superweapon, and/or ground armor that needs to be crafted) and it will show you exactly what you need to farm and where you need to farm to obtain them. Personally, I think this site should go in the OP!

I'm in love with gatling gun!!
At first I thought it's not as good as sniper. Ho boy I was wrong...
Now everytime I'm going to walk through Mira, I'd put my sunglasses on, rev my gatling gun up, shoutin.. "Bring it on!" Lol

You using the all attribute reflects Raijin built? You finding it better than the longsword builts when it comes to dps?

Yep but not all attributes, I only use 3 (specific to the enemy attack) so I can put another augments for damage.
When it comes to dps it depend on the support weapon, using knife the highest damage I've got was 600-700k per hit using full spec >> thermal overload combo on max overdrive. Basically a one shot if you're fighting a 5 million HP tyrant like Luciel, etc.
So yeah I think it much better than longsword, and more durable too.

No prob. I would have posted it sooner, but I just found out about it myself!

BTW, does anyone know what the evasion up cap is? I've asked before but no one responded. I really don't want to farm for something more than I have to.

I gave the built a try and it took like 10 min to kill that headless dino on the beach,

what augs do you use in weapons and armor? What's your total ranged attack power?

Just when I was wondering what I needed to do some Dmg Grav XX, thanks !

10 minutes? I think you have a pretty low potential.
It took me around 1-2 minutes to kill it with javelin as support.

Weapon augs:
2* ranged attack up xx, 4* appendage crusher
Armor augs:
Reflect thermal, reflect gravity, reflect phys, 2* potential up XX

Total ranged attack power 1000+, potential 300+

Mastermind class for 20% potential bonus + ranged attack bonus

With 250++ potential you could easily get 180k-250k per hit when using bullet twister during overdrive hair trigger combo.

Man, I remember someone saying that heart to hearts aren't as big a part of X compared to the original because of Affinity missions, but there's 5 per character and like 20+ more than the original had.

well that's just math

there's 5 per character in this game compared to 18 per character in the first game

Might've been 5 mins but it felt like 10 >.>

Wasn't using any potential up augs or appendage crushers.

How do you generate enough TP to keep Overdrive going without any TP augs?

Potential is essential for art damages, try to maintain it around 200++ when you mix matching your augs.
Bullet twister will give you TP per hit when you have an aura and raijin will increase the overdrive time when activated, enough to make you stay in overdrive.

Yeah but they're shared between characters, resulting in 63 total compared to the 85-90 of this game.

Having just done a big run of heart to hearts yesterday I prefer the ones in this game. Some of them are absolutely hilarious. H.B. is the man. Still have all of Mia's left, a few of Hope's and a few of Yelv's.

35h in, chapter 6, just got my Skell, and now I'm exploring sylvalum, trying to do most of the side quests. I'm a little happy to see that using a skell does come with its inconvénients ( bigger ennemies which ignored you now attack) so the on foot exploration is still pertinent.
I have some questions :

1°) should I try to develop affinities and levels of all the characters or only some ? I saw there are quite a lot of side quests with them.
2°) is the third skill tree (the one with the light sabers) that difficult to use ?
3°) are there some missables side quests, characters or items in the game ?

Thanks

So a quick question regarding chapter 11.
I understand why boot camp is a required mission snice it deals with Irina's brother which is something thatgets referred to at the ending discussion with Vanhelm but what was the significance of Nine Lives to it? It's been awhile since I completed that one so I might be forgetting something.

Also if you have Irina in your party does she just awkward stand in silence at the end when they talk about her?

Did Chapter 9 last night. I'm a little overleved, since I didn't have too much issue with the boss fight.

Just got the Skell flight module. Awwwwww yeah

Do need to finally get Mechanical Level 5 though

Cant get past chapter 10 boss, i need help.

Here's my setup : lvl ~44 characters.
* im using a lvl. 30 Lailah
* elma a lvl. 30 amdusias
* lin a lvl. 30 inferno
* doug a lvl.20 urban

They re all equiped with weapons i bought or found on robots.

I got zero problem to beat chapter 9 but im getting crushed now. I dont know what to do. I die pretty quickly.

I have 500K credits (winning 60 000 per tick), what should i do ? I guess buying another amdusias should be enough to close chapter 10 but as money is tight and heard the last boss is a pain, i wanna know what to do in the long term. I just plan on finishing the game, nothing past the end.

Thanks in advance.

Quick questions:

Does every hexagon space on the Gamepad screen have an orange Fast Travel option? Are there conditions you have to do to unlock one?
