Please note that spoiler tags are only out of respect for anyone who may want to enjoy the surprise of finding new members on their own. If the tags are deemed unnecessary, I'll remove them promptly. If you added the member to your available roster and want to know the exact way to get to them, Ctrl+F (or the equivalent elsewhere) and type in their name to find them listed.
I'll improve this later on but for now I hope it's useful for when you need to work out finding them the first time. The images are just the segment map from the guide. I'll also post a normal image of the area in the bold headers. Elma and Lin are just in the BLADE Barracks so there you go, two right off the bat. The first time you ask a character to join your party, their name will appear blue. After that it will not. Also keep in mind that you'll update the segment map when you speak to them so become familiar with their hangout spots quickly or else you'll fiddle with the Gamepad a lot to find the right hex. Assuming you've got a lot of completed segments lol
Finally, if they aren't there waiting for you it means they're at a Heart-to-Heart location that you can determine by overhearing NLA citizens with yellow speech bubbles. That will update FrontierNav with the segment data on where they are and when they'll show up.

Frye's recruitment mission was so insane, it was like those Salbats were being protected by a guardian angel. I couldn't fight them without something getting in the way. I ended up just killing one of them as fast as possible, then lose and kill to others the same way.
So after getting my 3rd level 50 skell I decided to go out and fight those fucking Everlasting Millesaurs. It was going well, until it started attacking back. Those things hit harder than tyrants of the same level, fucking christ I had an easier time with a level 70 tyrant. What does it take to murder these things?
nah, if you save up tickets for the Ares 90 materials it doesn't take much time at all. I spent around 4000 tickets on the hardest-to-get materials, then after I finished the game it took me only 20 minutes or so to get the rest.
Hahaha yeah. I'm in everyone's face now. Lost the skell many times because I'm trying to beat all the tyrants, but thankfully no lost insurance so far.
I can't get enough of this game. The top level gear and augments are depressingly hard to get but just running/flying around killing mobs and tyrants and increasing the recon rate in the various continent was enough to keep me entertained all evening today. Found a few new locations, even one in Primordia - didn't think that was still possible. -
yes that's pretty much what I'm doing now. running around exploring what I thought was already explored and using my A90 to take care of all the monsters that trashed my lower level Skells.
still having fun after all these hours
Actually my insurance hasn't changed since forever lol.
And apparently wrecking teammate skells count since they've been getting destroyed non-stop today lol. Going after high lvl tyrants while trying to lvl up lvl 30 chars in lvl 30 skells lead to many wrecks
Have you ever done any heart to hearts with them? If not, get the first 4 done and if you aren't at 5 hearts, you may be close. Clearing some basic missions should make for quick affinity iirc.
So it seems they wanted Gwin to be your "fourth" part member after
pushing Lao aside, considering how obligatory affinity misdions have something to do with the main plot.
Also, the inventory/enemy index has alot of interesting bits as someone already mentioned the Murderess, it seems Prone/Ganglion children love to play with miniature versions of the rolling ball droid

Yeah I did the first 4 today lol but I had to google where they were located. I think I only ever got hinted with his first one and that didn't even register on the map on the gamepad like Elma's or Lin's.
Alright, I'll keep doing regular missions then. Though I only ever see high level ones now ;~;
Optimise your probe setup (there are several 'ideal' layouts circling at the moment) and leave the game on overnight while holding down the stick. Just make sure you have all the required sightseeing spots.

No you cant
There is a cave in Noctilum where you can farm credits too, it has one Guardian Tyrant and a probe, was kinda useful and had lots of treasure too
Lv 20 Skell is easily worst in the game despite sleek look, im not sure how much value it has but better to be on foot or replace it.

yeah I really don't know how you're expected to kill all the Saltats at around the required level without getting one shotted by that thing after it wakes up

I'm surprised by how much I liked him - I was lukewarm at best on Shulk, but Phog is one of my favourite party members in X, despite being the product of a very similar archetype. Though speaking of which, I just did his second affinity mission with Frye - the overuse of the 'comical' theme in cutscenes was annoying before, but putting it in every single scene there regardless if it even remotely fit bordered on self-parody.
Talkative squads are the best! You meet some really cool people in this game. Unfortunately chat can get really laggy with lots of people chatting and it can be several minutes before you see what someone types
Aww, what? I saw that the quest to kill Barnabas the Despot gives a "disguise" as a reward, and I was all, "this sounds awesome." I finally manage to kill him, all skells destroyed, the rest of my party dead...and the "disguise" is
just another Party Suit. Now, the party suit is cool* and I'm happy to have another, but that name just makes it disappointing.
*On men. The female version isn't a bad design, it just doesn't really suggest "party suit" much at all, which is weird.
I'm so frustrated. I spend hours leveling up because I'm not usually good at RPGs, then they have a scaling system where anyone below you level wise gives you squat minus exp. So I leveled up from 30-50 yesterday and since doing tons of missions and three story chapters, I'm only level 51 now.
Then my skells are weak as shit, I have like, no money, and it took hours to get 1,000,000 space bucks, just to find out you need almost 5,000,000 to get the big skell.
I have I think a chapter and a half left, should I just cash in my money to max out gear on my level 30 skells and characters to knock out the rest of the main story?
his lines after you leave him in Chapter 9 seem like they were referring to it specifically, though they could also be read as relating to sending Elma's team up against the Wrothians. I agree that they were way too obvious with the foreshadowing, though - even if it's not exactly something that should come as a surprise, given how broadly the first game telegraphed its plot points. Also, did it seem to you like the cutscene in the hangar was really badly-paced, even by the established precedent? I'm not sure if it flowed better with the Japanese voice track, but there were some absurdly long pauses between lines at the end.
Yeah, I initially assumed it was about Elma. They made a point about how much Lao cares about his unit and he even tried to tell Lin to sit this one out. So I was really surprised it was him.
Do you mean the scene where Lao gives Lin the terminal? I thought that entire scene was fine actually. I mean the only criticism I can give it is that it got too anime preachy at points but otherwise I loved it.
There's a mountain of dead level 55+ mechs behind me so high that I'm starting to question who the real villain in this game is, but no sign of any level 60 Skell drops. Same for Armour, come to think of it.

No, that one was okay, aside from the aforementioned anime preachiness - even the Tatsu bit worked for me. I could have done without the
'Papa'
thing, though. And not having the option to
confess your undying love for Lao while you were protecting him frankly strikes me as a bad move.
I meant the scene were
he's stealing the Prog Ares
- most of the lines themselves were fine, but some of the gaps between them felt like they were five seconds long. Very little in the game feels like natural conversation, but that was really stilted.
