Nice, thanks for supporting the series. (And to everyone else, too!)

Next two users to post get their choice of any one of the collector's merch pieces. Goooood luck!

Aw crap, I should have waited like five more minutes to post that. >_<

Ah well, congrats to the two above me! :D

i hate to use leverage when other big fans of the series are involved in this thread too, but i got both platinums, dedicated a youtube guide for some of the tougher stuff, and successfully created a neogaf meme for Nagoshi, which will help awareness of how cool he, his team, and his games are in the future!

what i'm saying is, i REALLY want that tattoo sleeve. it's an odd piece that goes perfect with the game and i'd love to have one please.

i'd also take contents of nagoshi's emptied trashcan at this point.

This man deserves a sleeve. His Nagoshi meme has had me chuckling for weeks. And that binary domain e-mail thread is a work of art.

What do you say, everyone? Does he deserve some merch for his hard work? :) I think so, but we'll open the floor for Nagoshiations.

The "F" in Haruka's Trust stands for "Fuck that shit, I'm not spending another 50 hours grinding out MORE minigames!"

Sorry for the odd angle. I don't have my Yakuza 4 plat yet so I'm not going to post pictures of that one. I am still a ways off from getting in game 100% completion in that game too. My Yakuza 1 & 2 saves aren't to my perfect likings either so I won't provide dedicated completion pictures for those two games.

I got the plat on Yakuza 4, but I couldn't handle doing Minigame Master for Yakuza 3. Good job for those who got it, that plat is a badge of honor.

Hopefully I can finish up Yakuza 2 before Dead Souls gets here...I want to get all of Goda's backstory.

Quinntendopower deserves a Sleeve, I've been close friends with the guy for 3 years and I can safely say that his Nagoshi thread has made me proud to know him!

What a work of art! Biggest Nagoshi/Yakuza fan in the world probably hah!

The pack of cards and tin look really nice as well as the eye patch. Hope there are still some giveaways by the time I get back from work tomorrow. Congrats to those that got something.

what i'd like to do is play poker using the cards, while wearing the eye patch and arm sleeve, and listening to the yakuza soundtracks stored on the bullet stick.

LIKE A CHAMPION WOULD YOU GUYS BRUUUU SKIIESS

Thank you so much to the person who posted the Deepdiscount deal. Couldn't pass it up, particularly at that price.

Same here. I just ordered it. Normally, I'd go pick it up at the local Frys, but I'm still going through the amazing Binary Domain, so I can wait a little bit from ordering online with free shipping.

The only Yakuza game I've played was the third one and I didn't even get much time with it because a friend was letting me try it out, so this is all new to me. How comparable would this be to Dead Rising? And for those who have played the Japanese version, how long did it take complete?

Edit: I see someone mentioned putting over a 100 hours into it. How much of that was the story?

I admit those playing cards look very tight. heh but its one of those have one deck open you can play with and another deck stay sealed so I can dream that they will be collector rare :)

Just a word of warning about DeepDiscount. While their prices are great, their shipping times, ESPECIALLY on preorders, are terribly slow. We're talking like, weeks here. So just keep that in mind when ordering from them.

^good to know! it'd suck if you were hoping for amazon shipping times, too.

and Noisepurge - that is a really sexty joystick! a friend of mine was working on a similar template for me, with a No More Heroes logo in the corner, heh. still, the dragons came out really good on yours.

Uhh.. the camera is a hot mess in this game. wtf. There's a button to move it behind your character, but it often just goes beside them. I dunno you guys... the game is fun in a dumb way.. but doesn't feel polished like Y3/4.

That's the sense I got from the demo.
But I'm in it for the characters, not the gameplay. So I hope I won't be disappointed.

Hey Ruby, is the Hostess preorder pack on PSN yet? I just tried to redeem my code from GameStop, and it's saying that it's invalid.

You'll probably have to wait until after PSN updates today. Which could be...well, any time between now and like, 7-10PM EST. Or possibly even later.

Wife told me to buy whatever I wanted this week since she bought a ton of clothing online. Totally taking this OPPORTUNITY to buy Dead Souls

IGN review just went up: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/122/1220639p1.html

Though they didn't particularly appreciate Yakuza 4, either, so who knows.

As a way to end the series in spectacular style, SEGA has unleashed the undead apocalypse on its fictional version of Tokyo, turning the game into a zombie shooter rather than a brawler in the process.

Hahaha, what? No seriously, what? Did the author of this review just look at the Japanese name of the game and assume it was the last one or something? 'Cause it's been pretty well known for months and months now that Yakuza 5 is in development.

Ehh, the review pretty much mirrors what I've played so far, specifically this part:

"Aiming in first-person is amazingly slow and cumbersome and you rarely have the chance to fire off more than a few shots before the fast-moving undead are upon you. The generous auto-aim doesn't help much, mostly because the camera regularly decides that you'd rather be aiming at the wall in front of you than the crowd of zombies behind you."

But I really want to like this game. Will give it another shot later this week.. but so far... :(

Wondering if they even played the game, because
everything is wrapped up and back to normal at the end.

They always do. I assume it's a licensing thing. It's a real shame because the Japanese themes have always been excellent. I particularly like RGG3's theme (I think it's called "Loser").

Yep, it was Loser. Butterfly City from RGG4 really grew on me, and the main theme from Kenzan is awesome. Of The End's theme isn't as good, but was still kinda fun.

To be honest, I was kind of hoping for Dead Souls that the fine aiming controls were regulated the right stick, and not the left one (plus you could use the it to move while aiming instead), it gets confusing for me some times. Also, the AI for the escort missions suuuuuuuuuuuucks (as one substory has proven).

That said, I'm still drawn in.

yes!

install screen music! i just threw bricks threw my windows to force a cool breeze while i play

This game is everything I imagined it to be! Played for a little over an hour. So perfect! The controls are exactly what I expected too. I honestly love the way this game controls. It's MEGA PS2 feeling. I feel right at home with these mechanics. L2 Headshot aims feel so satisfying too! The co-op snipe heat kills are such an awesome substitute for heat actions as well. The cutscenes/presentation so far too is everything you would expect from a mainline Yakuza title. And yeah, Quinn, total fan service shit right out of the gate! Komaki, you guys!

Seriously, I don't understand the control/camera complaints. The HUD even indicates off screen enemies with red arrows if the camera is facing a different direction. It even has auto aiming with strafing if you don't want to manually aim. Sure, it's not as modernized as Binary or practically every other third person shooter, but it has that PS2-era charm that, personally, is impossible for me to dislike.

And OMG the Directives list! They seem to have toned down on the Challenge list a bit and implemented a new "Completion" structure with the Directives. Total Binary Domain-like challenge shit going on here too (get 100 kills with each weapon type, etc.). EXTREMELY happy with everything I've played and seen so far! =)

I never get when anyone complains about the controls or camera in any game, unless they literally don't work as intended. Things work the way they do by design most of the time. Just learn how to adapt. I've heard the complaints about the controls/camera for Yakuza: Of The End and I'm having no issues whatsoever.
