Yakuza KIWAMI |OT| Translator's Note: "KIWAMI" means "EXTREME"

I have OCD when it comes to game series, I need to know everything.
But those games are extremely long, are they really that unimportant?
5 is important for 6?
6 literally continues from he point where 5 ends. No other game has such a direct effect on the next game.

So either you have to suck up your OCD or you watch/play all of them.

Though I will say that while stories themselves don't have much effect on the next story, it's the characterization and growth of the characters (literally) that makes a much larger difference. You become much more emotionally invested in the characters and their stories if you've played most if not all the games.

Anyone found the leather-jacket dude that starts a fight THUG Majima forces into?

edit: It’s a purple and white jacket wearing thug about half way between M Store and MEB. I kept re-entering M Store until the thug appeared.

And that's Kiwami wrapped up. The fight with Nishiki was everything I wanted. An emotional brawl out against someone you loved as a brother and epic music to go with it.

Just learned there is a trick for proving grounds 7. Tapping R1+Triangle but it seems like I can't really pull that of with my vita on remote play. Guess I gotta wait until I can hog the tv too bad you can't use your controller with the vita as display.

Man, the
Majima
boss fight at the end of Chapter 5 was incredibly difficult. After about half a dozen failed attempts I took the game's advice and knocked the difficulty down to easy. That was rough. Enjoying the game otherwise.

I'd recommend having at least half your inventory full of healing items because some bosses can take down your health fast. The best that money can buy is Staminan Royale and can be purchased for 12k yen at the pharmacy that's at the corner of East Taihei Blvd. and Pink Street IIRC. If you're going to do all the optional stuff in the game then there are stronger healing items to buy from the chips you can win at the casinos. Might be needed to finish all the substories.

Non-healing items are best placed in your item box which you can access from phone booths when not in use..

Can anyone tell me the next Majima Everywhere scripted event?

I did the Millennium Tower one and I noticed the giant traffic cone but Kiryu didn't trigger anything after I interacted with it.

So apparently
the puppy Haruka and Kyriu cruelly leave alone at the end of the games comes back in 2 in a substory. Can't wait for Kiwami 2 just for this.

Didn't realize how much the slot car stuff factors into your completion percentage. Even though I've already beaten the game I only did a couple of slot car races for the substory, but now I'm trying to get all the dragon abilities and can't
beat Majima the third time.
So I started grinding slot car matches to get better parts and my completion percentage went up from 48% to 61%. I'm currently stuck on the advance course and
still can't beat Majima
so I guess I still have a bit more to do.

I distinctly remember them keeping
the dog and him being there in Y3 and Y4 as well as I think Y6.

Not quite. In Y2 you meet
a lady who works at Sunflower orphanage and one of the things you end up doing for the kids is donating the dog to them. Mame/Rex is a different dog you find in Okinawa

Yakuza has a long history with shibas and I love it.

2, 3 and 4 are pretty short in comparison to 5.

If you decided to just do story run throughs of the games it wouldn't take you all that long.

Really looking forward to playing Yakuza 2 directly after I finish this one. And then 3. And then 4. And 5. And even Dead Souls. Should be done with the series just in time for Yakuza 6 to arrive.
Nice! You're in for an awesome game next

For reference, I played through the entire series in order earlier this year, and by sticking mostly to the main story while still doing some side ones in each game, it took me little more than a month, averaging 25-30 hours per game.

This included Yakuza 1 to 0 without skipping Dead Souls (which honestly you can do, although I still recommend it!). The games are only overwhelmingly long if you want to delve into the side stories and mini games... Except for 5, that one's huge either way.

i'm almost at the end.

all i gotta say is Rush mode is so OP.

in Y0, beast mode was all i used and never touched rush mode.

in Kiwami rush mode, Kiryu is untouchable practically in every boss fight.

I definitely used Beast less in Kiwami, though bicycles in Beast are still my go-to for clearing out crowds of jerkasses on the street, and an easy heat dump against Majima.

Always get your inventory full of healing item ! (stamina royal at drug store if you have enough money)
It can get worse later.....

It's me or Coliseum is really, i mean really brutal on hard ? I was like i'm going to farm point to get tiger drop.... farming the begining tournement is going to be a drag, but i can't beat the last few one I get 2 combo shot(i'm like 40/48 on body thought) . I can't imagine on Legend....

Yea, I'm in a similar boat. I played through the series relatively recently and most of the playthroughs were very short. I think I could fit a bunch of them into my total Y0 or Y5 playtime.

I really need to return to Y3 and Y4 as I really didn't do enough side content in those.

It's what I did ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I bought a hard drive for my PS3 so I could install Y5, if that counts.

Personally the only one I'm willing to play is 5 because it's not really that old, problem is it's only digital so very expensive compared to the other ones that I can get for 3€ lol

Can vouch for this as well, this is roughly how long my Y3 (and I think Y4) playthroughs took. By the time I got to Y0, though, I was actively looking to improve my completion percentage, and I managed to get above 50% in that one but it took twice as long as the other games at almost 70 hours. Y5 was about the same amount of time and just below 50% completion for me.

ones my key is busted
Also slightly exagerrating the price but I found them all under 10€ at a store next to me. Will probably cave in before 6 comes out though, although Kiwami 2 existing makes me want to wait for that.

It's so complicated lmao
You are lucky I just paid 30 bucks for Y3.

I've only done the first two, and it's been easy enough except for the guy who fights like a Mr. Shakedown. Except he's even worse somehow. I feel like as long as I don't run into him I'm fine, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to fight him effectively. I do so little damage if I play safely but he can just super armor through everything I do and murder my HP.

I figure I should probably level up my dragon style a bit more before I go back in there, at least.

15 hours in and I've barely progressed in the story, there's just so much side content !

See, I loved messing around with side stuff in Y0 but it feels like 90% of the sidestories in Kiwami are "bump into person, they try to scam you, beat them up". I've spent a lot of time wandering around looking for Majima and side stuff.

the only good ones I've seen so far were the cool Judo guy and the goofy badass dad interview thing. I'm not really expecting something on the level of Miracle Johnson or SHOOREH PIPPI but still.

Obviously, do whatever makes sense for you. But 3,4&5 all feel pretty similar in terms of how dated they feel.
Which is not too much at all imo.

Also 3&4 are way more liked by the community than 5. Plus 3&4 can both be beaten within the playtime of Y5

Any advice on beating the expert pool player for part of the Haruka meter missions? I can't seem to beat him no matter what. I can never even get to go first either!

I like how Majima start to use his signature heat moves when the fight gets hectic.
What I don't like is beating Majima up, I want to play as him! Can't wait for Kiwami 2, even if it'll be just a side scenario.

Also lol, I just found him in the burger shop. That was unexpected!

So I started the series with Zero and even though there doesn't seem to really be anything new from a gameplay perspective I'm loving the story. It's great seeing familiar characters and their evolving relationships with each other.

Also Majima and Kiryu are soulmates. I hope Kiryu will eventually come to embrace this fact.

I started with OG Yakuza and it's so weird seeing Zero fit in like a glove

Like I knew Majima as Dipshit McGee way before he was suave club owner

It's important to note than Y1 is the only game where Majima acts like a semi antagonist. In later games he's a bro who'd do anything for Kiryu-chan... With the condition that they fight shirtless first!

This is due to him not really being designed as a major character at all, let alone a recurring one.

I got to the final chapter today but spent hours finally doing some side stories and Majima battles.

I want to do the trophy related side stories but didn't get the phone call needed for starting My Baby’s a Showgirl, any thoughts on how to trigger that?

Have you tried going to the club once on your own?

yeah, i still use beast for large street encounters myself.

i never really switched off beast in Y0 but was getting my ass handed to me by the bosses. once i switched to rush no boss could stop me. i guess they nerfed beast mode.

I've been in Asia, Shine, Jewel, if you meant one of those?
The bikini bar, Asia I believe is the name. Hmm, you've already been there. Can't really think of any other trigger. Maybe if you wander around near Stardust or something?

Loving this to death. Nearing the final chapters. Don't want it to end!

At least, not until 0 arrives.
You might just lose your shit with 0 if Kiwami is already having such an effect.

Goddammit, I didn't realise (minor substory spoilers)
that you are allowed to lose the fight against Majima wearing the devil mask during the old dude's training missions.
I used all my healing items and was dodging like a motherfucker and playing incredibly slow and safe and managed to beat him after a stupid enough of time. Then the guy is like "I would have given you the upgrade anyway, you were meant to lose."

Has anyone tested this yet? I just assumed he'd still make you win if you lost regardless. Would make sense though since that fight is garbage given the limitations in play.

I can confirm I lost like a scrub and I got the ability still.
Komaki said something like "You'll encounter enemies that are much stronger than you" and stuff, and then Komaki has a private conversation with Majima where (I'm paraphrasing) he says that fighting Kiryu brings out the best in Majima too.
