I liked Sigma Harmonics if it's anything.Virtually all of the games Hamauzu has written for have been major turds. I guess some people will stick up for SaGa Frontier 2 but I can't think of many who will do the same for Unlimited SaGa, Dirge of Cerberus or Musashi Samurai Legend.
Nah, she won't. She'll do a good job though, but her compositional style hasn't changed much over the years. It wasn't too bad overall, but too orchestral for my tastes. Isn't something I'd listen to separately. Shimomura@XV is going to blow anything XIII has out of the water.
XIII is better, IMO, but XIII-2 definitely has its charms. More of the fun battle system, good story, but it's VERY easy compared to XIII.
I'd pass on it. I had high hopes for XIII-2, but the game felt incredibly disjointed. It was basically bits and pieces of FFXIII areas, randomly slapped together in the time travel menu. The story seems promising during the game's intro, and then proceeds to meander into nothingness within 30 minutes. You get to reunite with the shitty characters from FFXIII, so I guess that's kind of cool. But that's about it.
The game was basically an excuse for Square to reuse assets and try and quell their angry shareholders.
I liked Sigma Harmonics if it's anything.
I'm still bitter that game wasn't released outside of Japan. It looked cool.

Here's hoping LR will redeem it.
Yes! Quite honestly, I think it is the single best RPG boss track featured in an RPG to date. I enjoyed it that much. Even years after release, that song still grabs my attention. Just incredible.Saber's Edge is my favorite XIII track. It's just perfect. It really gave me a sense of struggle when fighting a boss.
I don't even know what to make of these comments. It's so clearly not the case. The entire FFXIII soundtrack sounds like elevator music
I think XIII was an improvement in the soundtrack than XII. That game had a mediocre soundtrack at best, barely memorable tracks.
How dare you talk shit about Sakimoto. >:[ (jk)
But yeah, FF XIII OST was pretty sweet, but I HATED the battle theme, it got old so fast.
Nothing is worse than this...

Every single time an enemy draws near you get this awful song and usually just the first 5-10 seconds (which are the worst parts of the song). What were they thinking? Could it possibly be any less appropriate for battle?
Honestly, the music in Wind Waker is bad to the point that it prevented me from fully enjoying the game. Absolutely hated that soundtrack. They should not have even used battle music. It's funny that you say this since I just finished WW yesterday.
And no, I think that the battle theme does a great job, since it gives you a sense of tension and makes a perfect background for the dynamics motives of Link's attacks. Sure, more often than not the track begins to play even when you're just skipping enemies, but it didn't bother me at all.
On the other hand FF XIII battle theme is too busy and dramatic, it would be perfect if it was a boss theme, but listening to the fucking violins thousand of times cheapens the whole song in my opinion.
I'd like to know what elevator you are riding. I'd stay in that elevator foreverThe entire FFXIII soundtrack sounds like elevator music
I liked FF13-2's soundtrack more than FF13's overall. I'd like to see Naoshi Mizuta take a more primary role for the main series, as I think he captures the essence of Final Fantasy better than other contributors FF13/13-2. He pulls a lot of weight in FF11 and FF14, which both sound really great. He also did the music for the mobile game Final Fantasy Dimensions.
Shame they didn't put as much effort in the gameplay though.

I would've included FF13-2, but I haven't played it yet, but that game has some pretty great music as well.

Give it another listen. And even that's generous. Don't really remember many XIII songs and I'd say it might barely make the top 10 FF OST lists of fans of the series. So many FF games have superior soundtracks.
Final Fanatsy X-XIV clearly show that it works.Final Fantasy without Nobuo Uematsu just doesn't work.
He's as important to the series as John Williams is to Star Wars.

It's aight. His other work with FFX, Sigma Harmonics, and Saga Frontier II are leagues ahead of it by far.
