I think that this will be amazing. I've always wanted this type of Sci-Fi to make a return. Most of the stuff involving aliens recently hasn't really went the star wars/mass effect route. The idea of contacting an intelligent species aside from us in the universe can be explored through more ways then "they are taking over earth" (to be honest, I actually find it far more realistic). If we (Meaning, humans of earth) found another planet with intelligent life, I wouldn't expect us to just bomb the shit out of it and send in troops.

Everytime this thread gets bumped, I die a little. Silly me, I keep thinking that MAYBE the bump will mean said teaser finally exists. Instead, we get TSHIRTON.

Oh, Sculli.
Better to bump this thread than start a new thread about Abrams wearing an Avatar t-shirt:lol

But the movie is pretty much about mining the shit out of them.

You won't be able to get an experience as good as the new 3D theatre experience for a long while at home. That's a big part of the motivation for 3D - to get people's asses back into cinemas. If you want that experience you're going to have to leave your house.

James Cameron said the game Ubisoft is making would be in 3D too. But from what I know you need a special TV.

Erm, not quite. There's a lot more to it. :lol

So far, it seems like Total Recall + Furries + Pocahontas with really nice effects. I'm sure it'll be good, but certainly not worth all this hype, considering nobody has seen one frame of footage, and the concept art and early scriptment weren't exactly worth jumping for joy over.

Wow, at those threads:lol

Sculli. Seriously, do you work for Cameron? Or ARE you Cameron? We just want this movie to come out already, it sounds awesome. But the constant revivals of the thread makes us hyped to death without climax.

P.S. If you really are Cameron, I was just joking about Titanic sucking. It was an awesome movie, I wish I was DiCapro. But I suck, maybe I can become him in my dreams. But I am Brad Pitt already in my dreams. Do you still like me? :(

Oh come on now. At least my guess was based on what I think it is. It really has aspects of Titan, Avatar, and Tron. But its something newisher. And hopefully not a kids movie. Or at least not a retarded kids movie.

All concept art has been fake.

Pretty sure the tailed blue alien female was real.
Why would you doubt Sculli??? Dude has a heart attack if you say JC's tie doesn't match. And apparently he spends all his time scrounging the internet for any and all JC info to post on GAF. Not sure how he survived that last banning

Ok, until just this moment, I thought this was based around the anime. I was wondering why everyone was so excited and why James Cameron would choose a Nickelodeon faux anime show adaptation for his big comeback film.

Seriously, for as long as I've heard about this project, I thought that's what it was.

Oh shit! Speaking of when I was banned, an image from the set of one of the extras (marine) came out that I have since forgotten to post! Never fear:

Look at that gun! It's so 80s.

It's not a kids movie. But the original scriptment is exactly as I said. Major changes may have been made in the time since, I don't know. But I'm not expecting this life changing event from it based on that. Right now Star Trek, Terminator and Transformers are all movies I'd rather see.

There are fucking space marines. Geez where is the master chief and alien droves to be killed. Might as well have talked to Blizzard and called this Halo vs Starcraft the movie

Avatar's potential to be the guiding light of the 'cant be pirated media' is huge.
Since A, no cam job can be made of it
B, its JC and his tech nerd draw is pretty big

But it has a huge problem with money potential: the number of 3D screens.
Lets see how it plays out.

I dont understand this 'director blessing bullshit', alot of big names said that the phantom menace was the greatest thing ever... it wasnt.

keep your dick in your pants fanboys and try to remember that his tech-noir days ended at the start of the 90s.

You're talking as if HALO etc has influenced Cameron where as it is the exact opposite.

LMFAO. I stopped clicking this thread after a while because i knew it would just be a tidbit of nothing, but decided to finally enter in the hope that SOMETHING, ANYTHING might have been revealed, since it has been like 3 months since this was posted. A freaking t-shirt worn by freaking JJ Abrams? Oh Sculli. :lol That only de-hypes me.

Are there even any 3D screens outside the US?

Just check the IMAX website and you'll be amazed. Heck, we have one in the city I live in Oviedo, a small city in the north of Spain.

All I know is that James Cameron conceived of and designed the ALIEN QUEEN (not Stan Winston). You can do no wrong in my eyes after that. I can't wait. BRING IT.

A couple years back Cameron said he wanted to debut the first Avatar footage at Showest '08. Well, ShoWest '09 is less than a month away now, so I'd bet we'll see something by then. Cameron is really, really intent on selling 3-D to theater owners. There is no way he won't entice them to convert more screens to 3D by showing Avatar footage.

Also, Monsters Vs. Aliens comes out only a few days before ShoWest, and there's a good chance Cameron will place a 3D trailer in front of that.

So yeah - a month from now, I'd say chances are high we will have seen something.

isn't there a non-digital version non-3d version

3dscrens what good is
cellulite film projection to digital. One of the big hurdles is those film projector guys have a union. With digital you don't need a fat guy making a shitload of money to change the reels.

Yes, I am sure there will be a non-3d version. but the draw of avatar is seeing Pandora in 3D which is something a camcorder cannot deliver.

Its an exciting format change for the industry. I dont agree with the comparsions to the 3d which we had in the past. the tecnology and results which we have now are staggering.

Seriously. A lot of you claiming to be worried about it's box office due to the number of 3D screens seem to be forgetting it will get a 2D release as well.

I haven't been to IMAX or the theater in a long time.

I need to see what's playing at IMAX. I remember people going recently for some reason.

Under the Sea 3D and Dolphins and Whales 3D only...

I will be watching Watchmen at the IMAX theater this Saturday if I manage to get good tickets for the evening session.

Watching 300 there was amazing (as well as TDK).
