Gameboy Advanced, Gameboy Advanced Service Pack, and also ass rape price on GBAm.
It just smacks of Nintendo's blatant abuse of their absolute control of portable gaming. Back before the PSP was released, Nintendo chose to release the new Gameboy hardware with a screen nearly impossible to see under normal lighting conditions.
Then they released the GBAsp since that Portable Monopoly site fellow was stealing money from their pockets selling that GBA modding kit. Only it's Nintendo, so they couldn't do it right. Noooo - we're going to front light the fucking thing. The end product was slightly better than that original GBA but still had visibility issues in certain lighting conditions.
Now, the GBA Micro is just Nintendo bending you over and raping you in the shitter, while you toss Yamauchi's salad. "We're Nintendo and you morons will pay through the nose for our shit!"
At the end of the day, as much as I fucking hate it - the NintenD00DS is the portable should have released on day one. Granted, the lack of GB game support leaves me with no Tetris to play (FUCK YOU NOT BUYING GOD DAMNED TETRIS AGAIN!), but at the very least you can see the god damned screen. >:|
Silent Hill 2 also ranks up there with abysmal failures this generation. The game wasn't as enjoyable as the first, and the story didn't keep me guessing. I was also hoping the team would do more interesting things with the fog in the game. Sure the fog was a hardware limitation of the PS in the original game, but it was a huge portion of the atmosphere. I would have loved to just be able to see random things in the fog on a next generation Silent Hill. Nah - now the team is too wrapped up in making Top 40 sounding music to make a good game. >:|
