Half of these games turned out exactly as they were advertised. Concord, HB2, Xdef.

Not really sure how you could be disappointed in them when they were exactly as advertised. Not saying they were good games, but it’s hard to be disappointed imo.

Concord is a disappointment only if you had expectations
I had none, it was something to forget since the first teaser

My choice is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, way toooooooooooooo long and filled with useless things
Imagine complaining about too much content.

No Hollow Knight 2 (2025 is it, believe!)
Kinda disappointed with new Zelda game too, godawful UI, but technically competent and all, but is it really good?

  • Ubisoft + Ubisoft Singapore (Skull'n Bones) & Massive Entertainment (Star Wars: Outlaws)
  • Sony forcing PSN linking/setup for Steam ports
  • Sony + Firewalk Studio (Concord) & Bungie (Destiny 2)
  • EA + Bioware (DA: The Veilguard)
  • WB + Rocksteady (Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League)
  • Dragon's Dogma 2, worse than original
  • Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, worse than the original

Wasn’t hyped for anything really this year. Biggest disappointment came from the business side of things. Closures and things.

Shadow of the Erdtree.

Sure its great on its own but Elden Ring might be the best game ever made and the dlc that Fromsoft typically knocks out of the park was filled with fumbles not found in the base game. It literally could have been the second coming of jesus...

Microsoft going multiplatform. I kept saying the decision to buy Activision/Blizzard was a fatal a d terrible decision and this is the result. I truly think the brand will never be the same as we know it.

21 people thought that Dragon Age was a bigger disappointment than the studio closures.

What in the world are we doing here.
I guess it depends on the studio. No one seems too broken up about Firewalk, but Tango Gameworks is a heartbreaker.

I think the real issue is that it's such a nonspecific category, that it doesn't inspire much conversation. Specific games, on the other hand, resonate and stir up specific memories. Also doesn't help that closures is last on the list. *shrug*

The whole year kinda didn’t do it for me.

Sure, there was Astro Bot, it was great. Indy is also great.

But man… nothing blew my hair back. When asked what my GOTY is… I’d just reply… meh.

Biggest disappointment for me personally was Dragon's Dogma 2.

That game was being hyped up as the next Elden Ring-level hit in 2024 and turned out to be distinctly average. Not to mention I couldn't get the game to not crash for at least 3-4 days after it released. It needed another 12-18 months in the oven, because the enemy variety was poor and the back-half of the game fell off pretty hard.

It would have been Outlaws or Veilguard if I had any expectations to begin with.

My biggest disappointment, hmm. It can’t be Concord, because I already knew it would be garbage + I simply do not care for hero shooters.

So then I can only vote for Star Wars, where we also kinda expected it to be a disappointment, it’s still a shame that it is. Especially with the endless potential Star Wars games have.

Dragon Age as I suspected would take first place.

Many of us had been waiting so long for the conclusion of Inquisition's story, only for the first sign of death (the subtitle change) to rear it's ugly head, then later confirming our fears. :messenger_pensive:

Sony abandoning exclusives (especially 1st party) and working towards killing physical media. Also, Sony relying on brute force instead of heavily optimizing games and taking advantage of the PS5 hardware. Very very sad.
