That first ad makes me feel good about the ads I get served, at least. No thx.

I really miss YouTube Premium, but like fuck am I paying £12 a month just to remove ads. And to preempt "but but adblocker" people... I don't feel like rooting my OLED to install one (if that's even possible).

There's not even the need to root. There's an app that's called DNScrypt (DNSCloak on iOS) that creates a virtual VPN in your device. Then you route all the traffic through the software and apply a blacklist. Heck, I have DNSCloak on my iPhone and it isn't even jailbroken. It also adds the benefit of providing you with DNS-over-HTTPS and DNS-over-TLS.

Oh that actually sounds pretty neat - apologies for preemptive snarky comment :p I had a look on the LG WebOS app store thing and couldn't find anything that looked like a virtual DNS. I keep meaning to set up a raspberry pi as essentially a VPN access point but I lost it and hate linux and reasons. I should probably just find an image that someone already made...

i have ad block on my pc and but i got a new S10 and i cant find an ad blocker.

Youtube ads are so painful :messenger_unamused:
You can download Fire Fox which allows you to install an ad blocker. I use uBlock Origin. It works perfectly for YouTube.

As someone who nowadays digests 90% of my entire television watching on youtube (the other 10% being live football and a small amount of twitch) it took me 2 minutes of the YouTube premium free trial to know I’ll be keeping it forever. Amazing difference in user experience. Instantly notice no adverts, which have become outrageous and it’s even the little things like the fact I can keep the video/sound of the video playing in the background on my iPad Air/iPhone while using other apps is an absolute game changer. Another huge reason is the YouTube Music app. I have never found value for Spotify at £10 a month, and I always end up cancelling it after the trial/discount offer each time I’ve had it. So having YouTube Music included in with YouTube Premium for no additional cost suits me fine. Sound quality is great too. Honestly can’t recommend it enough if you’re a person who is a heavy YouTube user.

Bumping a year old thread to boast about how great paid Youtube is... yeah nothing shady about that at all. ;)

And if you're an Android user you can get it for free by installing the YouTube Vanced app.

As a rule, and having experience I always find these sorts of freebie, pirated methods of doing expensive things (firestick jailbreaks, etc) absolutely rubbish and nowhere near as good as the real thing. I never have a huge amount of subscriptions running because I hate committing myself to them, so I can afford the £15.99. Supporting the legit YouTube premium service and the convienience of the real product is worth that to me.

I have a fully working YouTube App with a proper dark theme and no ads which can play as a widget, in the background, etc, as it's pretty much a reverse engineered version of the original. Tell me what you're getting that's worth £15.99 a month.

Despite the high score, plenty of people here saying it’s got numerous faults.

Everything synced up to all my devices, my tv, all on same account all my history showing, the proper legit service all worth the money to *me*, emphasis on me, not everyone. Like I said, every time I hear how great a pirated freebie is, I get it and realise it’s nowhere near as good as the real thing. Just like a frozen pizza is nowhere near as good as the real thing despite being made of the same stuff.

I started paying for premium when all the fucking election ads were turned up to 1000. I will never go back to the old way of watching YouTube now. I should look into ways of accomplishing this for free across all devices, but I’m lazy and it’s only like $12.

But this still works on Vanced and when I go back to normal YouTube on other devices? You know that comment about you being an ad was a joke right but now you're coming across that way. 😂

Edit: just to note, the main app is from the official website...

So you’re just going to ignore all the user reviews in that link I posted saying it’s terrible? Right. Fair do’s. Good times.

Do you get commission or something? Or do you get like a month free for every person you convince to subscribe?

Edit: and yes, the play store version is heavily gimped, if you're getting Vanced make sure it's the full version and sideload it.

I’m not that broke that I need to downgrade and get a vastly inferior, less convenient freebie of something I rely on massively all to save £15 a month. I have said ten times the service is worth it to me, and I recommend the service. I could just as easily ask you if you’re a paid shill yourself, the amount you’re banging on about that pirated load of rubbish. Nice backtracking btw too.

See this is why it seems like you're here to advertise, ever since I brought up this free version that Android users can download YOU'VE gone on the attack and made multiple false claims about the program and its features.

It's fine to say it's not for you or that it's cool to give people the choice but instead you went in hard on shitting on the free version, boasting about the paid version and then instead of talking about actual features you're getting for your money and why others should be convinced to pay as well, you've instead gone for sly insults by linking free with "trash" and near enough saying that people can't afford it so that's why they'd use such "rubbish".

Why exactly did you bump this years old thread? Was it honestly just to brag about YouTube Premium?

Now I check Odysee first on my phone, but if there’s something only on youtube I use pc. Waterfox with ublock or youtube enhancer both block ads

I don't think he's paid now that he's getting the hump.

When people talk about YouTube Vanced, they're generally talking about version that isn't allowed on Google's Play Store. That would be like walking into an Apple store and selling Hackintoshes to people.

It's fine if the £16 is worth it to you, you're an individual. It was just funny that this got bumped out of nowhere to talk up a service unprompted. And it's started discussion, so it's good.

I specifically block every ad from YouTube. So I haven’t seen ads on there in a while.

I specifically have FireFox mobile with uBlock origin installed just for YouTube. No ads and background play.

Also yeah, super weird necro bump, lol.

l‘m using uBlock on PC and SmartTubeNext on my Sony Android TV. It blocks ads on my TV and now also intros, outros and sponsor segments in videos.

I just stopped watching YouTube. Between the ads and the recommending of videos, it's not worth bothering with for the 1 hour I used it per week.

Using Brave browser on both PC and my iPhone, no youtube ads ever again on both devices. It's impossible to watch a damn video otherwise.
