@Fj0823
You seems to be the guy in the know when it comes to the current meta. Ive been out of the loop since the original series and just jumped back in with this game. im getting use to the whole synchro, xyz etc, but theres a whole bunch of new cards im unaware of.
Im running most of the staples from back in the day (like 10 years ago) but what cards would you recommend me running magic/trap wise? I'm also using a warrior deck so would there be any monster cards you can suggest that was newly added to the game?
I really don´t play the meta game in any of my competitive hobbies, I´m the YGO equivalent of the guy who's happy getting his Charizard to level 100 without caring mu ch about it's nature or IV's, I just want to have fun. And not be broke....
That said I do now lots of cards that are staple now that weren't in the past.
-
Fiendish Chain is everything shadow spell wanted to be, it stops effects and attacks, people run 2 or even 3.
-
Breakthrough Skill has similar effect negation abilities, and it can be used from yout graveyard
-
Effect Veiler activates in your hand, negates effects, and is a tuner for Synchro Summon, its one of the best staples ATM.
-
Mind Crush is used a lot as your opponent will constantly add cards to his hand, might as well take them from him.
-
Soul Charge is monster reborn on steroids, but for a price.
As for monsters, check out the X-Sabers, Six Samurai. Noble Knights and Tellarknights, those are the best warrior archetypes I know.
I remember Crush Card.
What made it OP before?
Your opponent took damage.
It destroyed all opponent monsters with 1500 or more attack on field and hand
for the next 3 turns, every card your opponent drew had to be revealed, and if it was a monster woth 1500+ it was destroyed.
They actually changed it? I didn't even know they could do that except for misprints or ruling changes to fit the current game's rule structure. Like how magic was changed to Spells or something. That sucks. I mean, why? Why not just make a whole new card instead of changing a classic like that? Especially changing it to a point where it barely has any similarities from the original?
I thought this was something you could only do with online CCGs like Hearthstone. Now I'm more sad.
The card itself was nerfed so people can use it, nostalgia factor would not allow a "Crush card but not really".
Nerfing card text is very rare in this game, but it was the only way to unban some fan favorites. Like Sinister Serpent or Exchange of the Spirit
After all, in YGO no matter what edition of the card you own, the latest errata is always the valid effect.
For example the latest edition of "Summoned Skull" States it is always treated as an "Archfiend", due to mistranslations years ago. If you have an older Summoned Skull without that info printed, it will still be treated as an Archfiend
