Yu Suzuki and Mark Cerny talk Shenmue III strategy?!

It's called resurrection =3

I would take Shenmue 3 on book from at this point, I just want to know how it ends. Handheld version would be more than fine. Put it on GB Color for all I care at this point.

skipping the last 2 pages because ive hit my limit on weak potshots

ive never seen you before here but i like to think this was your last post, and you met your end like your avatar for these

what i love about the quality of the OST is that i wasnt totally sure which track this was till i clicked

likewise, i shall pretend you lost the mr accurate tag for this trifling

^fighting in the VF series evolved..it'd need to to likewise, not turn into string X pushes to hit endless glowy guys forever

i would shut my goddamn mouth about my disdain for them dropping BC, i think

i would take it anyway we could get it at this point, and so will you

i was gonna say im surprised you're not familiar with him, but honestly i didn't connect the man & his works until after the PS4 unveil, sadly

i fear im missing the sarcasm here

you are a good poster, anyone ever tell you that?

If Mark Cerny could bring Shenmue 3 exclusively to the PS4... Just think about it.

There is still hope...

Again, this is just probably two friends catching up. Then again one can't really ignore each one's position, so there's nothing wrong with dreaming a little.

One thing is certain, if there was a platform holder willing to sponsor/publish Shenmue 3 it would earn them a great deal of goodwill.

You actually got to play that? Wasn't it just local tested in Japan in unfished state, and then cancelled? You should give us more full impressions here, its rare to get someone who actually played Segas Lindbergh games, aside from HotD 4 and After Burner Climax. Stuff like Sega Race TV, 2Spicy and Psy-Phi...FFS just give us ports Sega!!

I was actually in the US. I played it in Gameworks Seattle and Illinois when I played it.

As far as the game itself it was weird, at first I really didn't understand it...but I got hooked and spent $5 every day for a few weeks, it ended up drawing crowds...which I haven't seen happen sense Marvel vs Capcom 2.

While you moved and acted in real time, it almost played more like an rpg. You had plenty of options. Move with a quick tap, tap longer for a bigger movement, hold for lots of movement. I really think it should of been Virtua On 3, would of been perfect for a flying mech sim. Anyways for attack a quick hit does a quick attack, a long tap stores power ups, you have to click on them. If you click and then click and hold the center a menu would pop up (select your super move) then you'd just draw it as fast as possible. You have to do this quick. I can use both hands without a problem so I basically would use both hands at the same time. Still it only seemed to respond to a touch in one area at a time, so you couldn't really move while doing a super. That's why you had to be quick. Still if you can use both hands to move and have things in position to click on them you will own other people trying to play with one hand. While dodging is the easiest, you can also shoot back to kind of block projectiles if you match the same type.

It was a lot of fun. I only played it for a few weeks while at Gameworks in Illinois but I loved it and was hooked. It was a tad bit easy I thought, but I saw others struggle with it. Not sure if it's still around but if your in Illinois (where I saw it last, I didn't see the Seattle one last time) it's worth a shot. It'd be great as a portable game, had that quick on the go feel to it.

Theoretically, if Sony bought the Shemue license would they be able to release a Sheue 1/2 HD collection? Sega has been doing Dreamcast releases on PSN and XBLA and has been avoiding Shenmue.

It's Mark Cerny though, and Yu suzuki's last gig was some shitty joke video with mega64

something is happening man, believe.

Interresting..mind me asking how the graphics and framerate were? Were they After Burner Climax/VF5 level?

Framerate was rock solid. Movement was smooth yet not over animated, which for the type of game it was seems like it should of been. The graphics were ok. Nothing was really awe inspiring. The particle lighting/particle effects were nice. The backgrounds were fairly empty. While it was a lot of fun it and the visuals were crisp. The visuals were kind of lifeless. It looked graphically about equal to Sega's slightly earlier games like Ferrari 355 and the Firefighting one.

The only way I see Shenmue 3 even having a chance is if they use the Telltale Games Waking dead formula. Episodic content would be perfect for Shenmue 3.

Oh God, this would be the greatest thing ever!
Also, if there was one system that could do justice to the ambition of a modern day Shenmue, it would be PS4! :)

It's been too long of a wait to see how this story continues....If only these tidbits of news the last couple of months means that a new game could possibly be on the horizon would be f'n great! How bout a game of lucky hit??? :D

I'm highly skeptical that anything will come of this, but consider me on-board to support this if Shenmue III actually gets released. I'd be nice to have a re-release of Shenmue and Shenmue II on the same system, though.

Censible Cerny strikes again.

Of course it's a troll, but it was a troll that was easy to develop using familiar tools, and much more powerful than the previous generation of trolls.

the point in case here is not the picture itself but what Meggan Scavio wrote.

By the way, Brandon Sheffield, director of Necrosoft Games tweeted:

For those wondering, yes, yu suzuki did say at a party that he wants to reboot shenmue 3. He is trying to find a way.

I thought this was already known a year or two ago? Good to know anyways.

some kind of sega backing and blessing + kickstarter deal like with the veronica mars film revival seems the most plausible option.

i don't think shenmue is popular enough though, maybe if they'd released download versions of both games on xbla/psn/steam a few years ago.

true, but in the past he wasn't as active as he is now.... by the way, his new game, 弾丸パイレーツ! Dangan Pirate!, is out for iOS and Android (in Japan....)

If this happens I will buy 10 ps4s.

Also I will become the chad warden of this generation.

We shall see I suppose. God I want this so very badly, have for years. As far as these rumors go there has been quite a lot of them as of late, haven't seen this many this close together in a while. Please based Mark make it happen.

It probably won't though. If anything, give us the HD collection with the ability to move the camera with the second analog stick and I'll buy five copies.

And anyone who spews Suzuki hate can die in a fire. That is all.

How can this game's soundtrack be this good? It's just amazing!

I'm all for them making a Shenmue 3, but can we at least agree that if it sells as badly as 1 and 2 we can officially say 3 strikes and it's out?

Note, I'd be willing to make an identical stance on Mega Man Legends 3, or any other good trilogy killed off prematurely.
