Yu Suzuki's gamelab presentation has a slide with a '3' on it. You know what to do.

I was seriously thinking of selling my PS4, all it does is play Crunchyroll for my girlfriend. This making me unthink that.

Why how do you know its coming to ps4 much less coming at all?

If its really just a crunchyroll machine just sell it. You can watch crunchyroll anywhere.

What a waste of a purchase

Here is a tissue.

Game is likely in development and going multiplatform. Community who wants this game is too small to limit the end user.

I swear Sony is just trolling everyone with the photos or else why take them? If they actually had it exclusive they would have said something at e3.

Seriously think about it. This is just forum fodder. No one would ever put out a hint like this that they couldn't put in a full PR piece.

Yu and Cerny are old friends. I'm sure they have been having dinner at least a dozen times a year for the last decade.

I hope they do another re-release just so everyone can get caught up again. I don't feel like pulling out my dreamcast or even my xbox 1 to play this. Such an awesome game and with advances from games like Yakuza, should be epic. I hope to god that this game gets made.

What if it's on the wii u or xbone?

If this gets made it's surely not going to be multiplatform and funded by an outside investor.

I'm assuming PS4 based on all the times Suzuki's been seen with Sony bigwigs. If it's on Wii U I'm perfectly happy and I go back to the sell PS4 thinking. If it's on Xbone then congratulations Microsoft, you've landed literally the only property you could that would get me to buy that thing.

Amazes me people want this so bad. Why? Honest question

People like Thing You Don't Like. It's a very, very simple process:

Thing You Don't Like 1 and 2 came out, but they never came out with Thing You Don't Like 3. People want that last one. Not a hard concept.

#undead

Edit: Look people, they gotta figure shit out. I'm sure Sony is the first choice, but they are looking into crowd-funding and seeing how this works. The reason they won't announce it is because there's nothing to say - there's no game being developed at this point, that's what they need to get to.

A really detailed open world heavy story driven game with a virtua fighter lite battle system and other systems from the guy who made the best arcade games with those systems in general?

Except on Wii U. And the PS4 outputs it at higher def than the PS3. I could use my laptop, but that's more of a hassle to hook up to the tv. And I don't think hers outputs HDMI.

So far, yeah. I'm still hoping for big things from Deus Ex and I like Uncharted, so it'll get some love at some point. I'm sure Bethesda will make a proper rpg for it too some day. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with the showing for this gen so far, especially out of Japan. It seems like the system's power has outpaced economics for a lot of developers. But that also likely means another long generation, so how it looks in year 1 and year 5 will hopefully be rather different.

it would be dumb to release shenmue 3 without the other two first. I wish they had at least got digital releases on psn/xbla/steam sometime the last 9 years of this past generation.

I would be fine with a reboot too.

Do you 09 often? There's a few selected individuals who are ready and willing for a third game. The digital releases can come after the successful launch of ShenMue III.

Because we're invested in a story with no conclusion. Imagine if The Empire Strikes back was the last Star Wars movie.

To be fair, I wonder how many people realize the series was about to go in a strange direction, with fireballs and stuff like that.

EDIT: And also that Ryo was going to drop the "must kill Lan Di" angle.

Probably why anyone wants a sequel to anything. If someone really likes something, let's say a movie and it is the kind of movie that a sequel can be made of, then they would want a sequel. Now it could be a shitty movie to you and me, but to that person it was the best movie ever and they want a sequel.

Have you ever wanted a sequel to a game? If so, then you have your answer.

First arm in arm with Cerny.

Then the tweet from, I believe it was Cliffy B saying "Cerny and Suzuki discussing Shenmue 3 details for real you guys!" Or close to that.

Now numerous recent shots of Suzuki with various Sony staff, enjoying dinner, group photos.

And now a "III".

Don't think it's too much of a stretch to say Shenmue III, PS4 exclusive, announcing officially in the near future.

After playing the Shenmue games, I always imagined Yu to be a very sensitive guy. But I have the feeling that the years since the death of the DC turned him into something different. Something I don't like.

I have the same question, most people haven't even played Shenmue I and II (it's only available on Dreamcast and Xbox).

Well, you can play Shenmue II on the 360. It's backwards compatible.

That's not why we are asking. Like why this game what about it. What makes it good that it needs a sequel? I can see maybe the last game to end the story? But I question how this game so many years later would be received... GOTY material, system seller?

To some it was a great, to others it was not a great game. To some, they want the end of the story, to others they don't give a shit. Again, like anything there are going to be a certain amount of people that want a sequel to something while others don't.

For me, it was a great game and I want to have a sequel to it.

probably one of the best selling titles on the dreamcast. as someone pointed out before, it had an attach rate comparable to skyrim (in context of the amount of dreamcasts sold)

it was also a pretty big spectacle. there was nothing like it at the time, and you could argue there really hasn't been anything the same since either.

Since I never liked Shenmue, I must say it is hilarious to watch the fans crash against the giant sea-side wall of hope, only to see them continually smashed and dissipated.

It must be like how I feel as a fanboy of the Mother franchise.

Except the creator of Shenmue keeps expressing desire to make another in the series. Unlike Mother ;-)

He expresses the desire for the series to continue, but with someone else at the helm

you see what I did there? there is no bottom to my endless well of Mother series hope.

It's clearly not being made for a wide audience. If they released an HD collection, I'm sure they would want that to be more successful. Shenmue III should be made for the vocal & core (me included) fans (all 15 of them lololol, don't worry boyos i got it first) of the series who have, quite frankly, been made to look like fucking idiots by the enthusiast press and people in the business.

Would it really be mother without Itoi?

..which is actually part of the reason I'm dying for Shenmue III. Suzuki isn't getting any younger, you know?

we're all secretly brothers and sisters in-arms.

Why do people associate shenmue with Sony consoles? It has never been in any platform with the name playstation. ?_?

It's Suzuki's relationship with Cerny, but yeah, I understand this. At the time of Shenmue 1 and 2 many SEGA lovers were Sony haters. A lot of the Dreamcast hardcore moved over the Xbox since that's where the awesome Sega games were. I've since forgiven Sony for their brutal slaying of SEGA, but I will never forget... unless Shenmue 3 is exclusive to PS4 for some reason. Maybe that'll help me forget.

What fans of other franchises don't understand is that us Shenmue fans don't just want a sequel. We want to know how the story, story that we started 15 years ago, ends. It's like going to the movies to see a highly anticipated blockbuster and have it end midway through.
