Zelda: A Link Between Worlds |OT| All in all you're just another Link in the wall

This game gets better the more time I put into it. Makes me want a Link's Awakening remake or something else to do with that game that's new. :(

Overall, it took me 18 and half hours to beat the game with 90% of all items. Quite a good length. My only real complaint were the small sizes of the dungeons. The puzzles in each helped to make up for it.

Strange that the dungeons were really really small compared to LTTP but the overall length was much bigger. Good thing though.

But were they? I have replayed ALttP right before ALBW and the length of the dungeons felt about the same. Some were smaller, yes, but some even larger. Most of the ALttP dungeons aren't that large.

I understand you, I had the same feeling first, but when you really think about it, they are not that much smaller.

The dungeons are shorter due to the fact that 1/3 of the dungeon involved you going to the item required in the dungeon, then 1/3 to get the boss key and then 1/3 to get to the boss door.

In ALBW, the time to get the item is gone since you start with it and the optional items are pretty much optional puzzles that are along the path of the dungeon itself, so it doesn't really take much time doing it or make you go off the path you have to go. And then getting to the boss door after you get the boss key rarely takes long. I just wish they put more stuff between getting the boss key and getting to the boss door.

I feel like the Desert Palace and the Ice Ruins were the best dungeons in terms of content.

And speaking of that, Ice Ruins is my last dungeon in my Hero Mode run. I only have 3(?) Maiamais left and 3 heart pieces left. I still haven't died since I carry fairies with me at all times lol. I also did the boss skip in the Skull Woods and it is farily easy to do, just have to try and try again. I then went back inside and beat the boss legitimately to get the heart container lol.

I just beat hero mode and the only thing that changes is this
and this happens after Link puts the Master Sword back in the pedestal

Also so many people here are getting the dungeon names wrong even though they're always on the bottom screen when in the dungeon. It's Swamp Palace not Water Temple, Ice Ruins not Ice Palace/Temple, Dark Palace not Dark Temple, Turtle Rock not Turtle Rock Temple (and why would you even add more words to it?). Every dungeon in a Zelda game isn't always a sacred holy praying ground, they're usually dank, dirty and/or abandoned places.

Minor nitpicking rant over

I need some help:
I am on the thief dungeon, and I am escorting the girl out. I climb up to B1, and I am working on the fans. I fall off B1 and get back onto B2. I climb back up the stairs, but the girl is now gone. I cannot find her at all. Where does she disappears to?

I think it's back to the
cell you found her in.

I just finished my second Lorule dungeon (I've done Thieves' Den and Desert Palace so far) and still liking the game a lot. The cutscene was a nice touch, too.

So far I think the bosses resemble LttP bosses a lot in difficulty -- in both games, you can beat most of them by mashing the sword button and tanking a lot of the damage. Maybe that changes in some of the dungeons.

Did you check the
cell area? I think that's where she goes.

Yeah you are probably right. I think LttP dungeons were bigger in size/map, but LbW is bigger in length due to the more puzzle nature to them.

Has anyone beaten the game on Hero mode yet? Obviously a spoiler. But I was wondering if anything is revealed in relation to Majora's Mask, as Aonuma previously stated we should play and beat this game as all should be revealed or something like that.

Psss....look a few posts above your's :u

What's up with y'all and no deaths? Fucking final boss destroyed me multiple times. And that was on normal mode. Hero mode is absolutely having its way with me.

The whole "too easy" thing is baffling to me. I think you guys are just too good at games. Balancing a game to your level would make it balls hard for everyone else.

Some of the bosses were plain easy. Like, not debatable. One of the later ones was
a floating hand that you just hit with a sword a bunch of times. You see the hand raise, you merge into the wall, it slams down you come out and beat the shit out of it, sometimes it makes a fist and tries to pummel you. Okay... let me just go into the wall again and it's no longer an issue. Rinse and repeat until it's dead.
. I love the game to death but sometimes the difficulty was a joke

That boss is so easy, that you can actually skip him and go directly to the sage. Only problem is you wont get the heart

So does the game get more lively or anything?
I completed 1 dungeon in Lorule, and neither world just really feel alive or anything.

Wow! I thought I'd exhausted their whole supply of music. Never heard them play this one. :)

If you didn't hear it yet, they also do the Final Battle music.

EDIT: AND LORULE CASTLE DFSGHDSJDFHASA
EDIT2: That one even has vocals!

Just finished 100% at about 25 hrs (I spent a lot of time in the overworld in between dungeons just exploring). Had to cheat to find two heart pieces :(. I wasn't completely blown away, but it sure did feel good to play a top-down Zelda after all these years. I'd say this game falls somewhere in between a remake and a sequel. The top-down style is perfectly suited for the 3D visuals and I thought it worked great... I would love to get another one in a few years, only a completely new game. This will probably be towards the lower end of my top 10 for the year.

I cleared the game this morning. I'm glad I didn't post during my playthrough because my thoughts went from "best Zelda since MM" to "these dungeons are really dragging the game down" to "you know what, it's still a great Zelda game--and I'd begun to fear I wouldn't see another." I don't know where it will ultimately settle in my personal rankings. It is easily the most fun to pick up and play in a long time. The open structure is very effective. The fact that I can go anywhere and do anything means there's always something I want to do in the game world--whether I've got five minutes to hunt for a heart piece or half an hour to try a dungeon. Gaining items like
the pegasus boots
and
the power glove
also feels much more exciting because it isn't part of a mandatory story sequence.

I do think a dungeons were a bit short and easy (although I could name a few standouts that were at least equivalent to their LttP counterparts). Only a few of them required any sort of thinking beyond the room you were in. And sure, it's not like Zelda has ever had super challenging puzzles. I get that. I just want to have to pause for a moment and use my brain--just enough to get the satisfaction of seeing an idea play out as I hoped (and not as I knew it would based on having seen the exact same puzzle a dozen times before).

I wish the developers had pushed the merge concept harder. It makes for some neat "ah ha" moments as you're just figuring it out, but once you've adapted, there's really only one part in the game that asks you to do anything new or surprising.

Boss fights were pretty disappointing.

On the whole, however, it's a great adventure game. I hope the developers appreciate what works so well about its overworld, pacing, and minimal handholding (unlike SS, I think there's plenty here that could serve as a model for future Zelda games). A 3D Zelda will never be quite as quick as a 2D one, but there's no reason it can't have (1) a compact, MM-sized overworld that is fun to explore in part because you don't have to commit an entire hour to reaching a particular destination and testing your new tools against it, (2) a streamlined narrative with only a few, short cutscenes, and (3) no tutorial or helper.

This. I've died on most bosses so far since u have to learn their attacks and strategies. Also died in that room in thieves hideout with all the mean eyeballs.

For reference, I pretty much never die in modern Zeldas. I also don't find dark souls to be that hard so it's not like I'm handicap at hard action games or anything.

If they balanced the game to be hard enough for some of you it just wouldn't even be fun for most of us. Good grief.

Same. Final boss was quite hard for me.

Also, what's with the lame 5-heart refresh from fairies? Isn't that small? I remember the other games giving you more when you die and come back..

Anyways, finally 100% the game, or at least got all the right gear/item upgrades and all 20 hearts.

Probably to try curtailing the mentality of stocking up on fairies and disregarding potions. I never did bother with potions in other Zeldas because instant reviving's just that much more practical to have, but this treats it more as an emergency reset button.

... Still didn't need to get potions though. Perhaps on Hero mode, but then that's to be expected, even some of those more generous Zeldas would have need of them on that I think as I actually want to have them in Wind Waker.

Beat it. Lot of fun and I liked elements like the Wall Merging.

Biggest complaint is that it was way too easy, especially the bosses who I was able to get on the first try each time though they were all fun to fight nonetheless. I'll do another run on Hero Mode and see how that is a bit later though.

Is it sad that a small (but noticeable) portion of my enjoyment of this game comes from Irene?

Like I hate to be "that" guy, but she's so darn cute, and I love her involvement in the story

What room is that anyways. A pic of the map would be helpful
The only thing I remember right now is
you need to destroy the wood on the windows in a higher room for something to happen in a lower room.

Edit:
Can you try
bombs or hammer on that cracked floor? is that even a cracked floor?
