Take this following image with a spoon of salt, because I'm not sure on the accuracy:
Just Cause 2 was pretty enormous, but considering it was barren as fuck and designed for flying around in jets, it's not a great contender.
So, anyone have thoughts on the rune abilities? I bet there will be more than the 4 they showed today, but I wonder how many. Also, I'm very curious if we'll get a return to Zelda style items or if the runes will end up replacing those. By that I mean hookshot rune, boomerang rune, etc.
Yeah. His default life bar is three hearts but you can make it longer by completing the challenge dungeon in Twilight Princess - your remaining health when you're done the dungeon gets saved to the amiibo and will be your Wolf LInk's new healthbar in BotW.
there were 6 slots plus the amiibo one
Some of these Shrines have to increase hearts/stamina and ability effectiveness
Also you wonder what the Dungeons will have in them
Any word on aiming with the gyro? I know all the waggle controls are gone, but it seems to be still compatible with the tablet controller. I really enjoyed broadly aiming with the stick and fine tuning with the gyro.
Giving you a point to get to on an open map that you have to figure out how to get to is hand holding?

There are hidden Kuroks all over the place, this is from WW so this is tied to that timeline.
You mark the world map. Its not filled with a ton of stupid markers. If you see something you cant reach yet, leave a treasure marker, or an enemy marker for a tough enemy.

*EDIT* By my estimation, The Witcher 3 (136Km^2 + Fallout 4 + Skyrim) = the size of Just Cause 2's Panau. I could be off, but this seems about right.
Yeah you could tell from the stream they were aiming with the gyro, at least for fine tuning. Likely similar to the past 4 3D Zelda remakes.
It's pretty neat for a Zelda demo to get such a positive reception from most people. I kinda didn't expect it, even if the game turned out great.
This game seems to be a bit a reawakening, not just of Zelda, but of Nintendo.
I was really excited about this, but then I heard that its not true. Seems like you can climb towers and fill out the map with icons, similar to Assassin's Creed and other open world ubi games.
Welp. I had played 300 hours of Xeno X and i do had to agree that the sense of scale is crazy and even when we use Skells, to reach the end of the continent never seems easy lol.
And if this Zelda even beat Xeno X in that scale, i can't picture how long i am going to play this game lol. Forever?
Based on what I saw, and the fact that can only move fast on ground I see this map as considerably smaller than Xenoblade X.

I'm in awe. Glad to hear there will be towns, guess it was just a mistranslation initially?
It remains to be seen whether Zelda will offer that amount of content or fun. However I would say that from what we've seen, from a purely physics and environmental interaction viewpoint, it is well beyond Witcher 3 (and most open world games) in terms of sophistication.
Played this at E3, and as many of you know I was skeptical as fuck going in
and well...
Game controls effortlessly, few frame drops after running out of stamina or bomb explosions but nothing as bad as the stream they showed the game off with
Playing the demo definitely made me want more of the game, and restored all confidence. It's so pretty, and my god is it vast. Don't know what to say since I am assuming treehouse went over everything I'm guessing but bombs are unlimited now and recharge. You bring them out with L, throw with R or lay it down, and then explode it with L again. ZL is Z-targeting, ZR or R I forget which is for arrows. You can't run and cut grass, but I'm hoping they put it in. Enemies don't hit hard but they have Skyward Sword AI, so they are smarter than previous games?? Most importantly we played the intro and there were like no tutorials, they plop you down tell you about the sheikah stone and you go. Twas dope as fuck.
Also idk how to describe it, but the atmosphere of the game is SO FUCKING UNIQUE it's insane. It's not like elder scrolls, witcher, zelda, etc. It's like an organic discovery video game simulator if that makes sense lmao.
Btw even though camera is free roaming and not fixed I wasn't getting motion sickness from it, so those of you like me who get nauseous from games sometimes you should be a-okay with this game. It was the most impressive game I saw day 1.
XCX's open world seems...kinda 'just there' compared to this, IMO.
Probaby not enough room lol.
It was basically the Galactus of open world games until Breath of the Wild.
Where did you hear it isn't true? They showed the fully mapped plateau region in the stream and showed that you have the ability to place a wide variety of marker types anywhere you want, like the skull marker at an enemy camp.
Ok, I found it!

"THERE ARE TOWNS"
"OF COURSE THIS IS ZELDA"
Yeah, even when they zoomed out, it looked like they could still pan at least a little. But I want big, and even if it is "empty", I'd be fine with it, so maybe I was just hopeful.I did screencap at least one of those moments.
red and blue things are markers.
EDIT: this is not the whole map, by the way. You can clearly see there's more to it in every side.
Ohhh i disagree here.^_^ The sense of scale when you actually jump around to reach all those hidden and difficult to reach artifacts, treasures. When you found a hidden vista and of course finally uses skells to reach all those place which taunted you first when you are still traveling with foots.
The Open World is there for all the exploration which i feel truly worth it.^_^
Played it today, went through the opening 20 minutes through the first trial (among other bits). Some story stuff that may have been mentioned but I didn't see anywhere:
This Link has been asleep for 100 years. Ganon is mentioned, but there was a word in front of his name I can't remember. He's this miasma at this point that you're trying to stop. A big, swirly black mass.
Im liking what I saw, but I'm kind of worried of the micromanaging. Seems like you're breaking up the flow by being in menus and inventory constantly since there's no more hearts in the world to replenish health.
Puzzles, exploration, progression, progressing with items, consuming items, surviving, everything shown was a logical extension of the spirit of the original games (well, okay, slow mo does feel right out of Bayonetta).
Or maybe I just love the gameplay in Zelda II and hate seeing Souls credited for that style of combat and progression.

Dan from Giant Bomb said when he played the demo, he used the Sheikah Slate to summon a tower, and when he climbed to the top it said something like "Regional Area Map expanded". No one knows what it means exactly yet.
