FYI, that was fallback behavior in the original. If you played with a Dualshock 1 (no pressure sensitive buttons), it would register each press at max pressure. I'm pretty sure this was mandated by Sony, I remember similar behavior in Dynasty Warriors 3 and GT3.
There *ARE* actually games which requires a Dual Shock 2 in order to run.

Silent Hill 2 won't even start without one and I'd imagine MGS2 would fail to run as well (it's impossible to play on PS2 without those buttons).

Weirdly enough, Mega Man Anniversary Collection is one of those. May've just been a blanket policy from Capcom, but it's one of the last damn games that actually needs that over the Dual Shock 1... Or even the original PS1 controller.

I figured if I could play through the PS3 version of Bayonetta then this will be a piece of cake. Not to mention I vastly prefer the dualshock and I feel it'll be easier in term of sensitivity controls.

G for Goddamn!, no doubt.

Motorboat that thing!

Spoiler time I guess:

When you have to "escort" her to the top of a corridor, grab her Orbital Frame and descend towards the molten lava at the bottom of the level and go very close to it. She'll start to complain about it and once she does that several times, you will have unlocked it.

You can also see how it's done here near the end of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSBfcofbr7k

Minor spoilers if you care:
At one point, something happens where you have to carry her over some lava. If you descend close enough to the lava, she will comment on how hot it is. Do that a few times and the next scene, youll see her in the secret outfit.

EDIT: Damnit, donkey show. I will have my revenge!

Thanks GAFbros. I wanna try to plat this ( I have no Platinums..... :( ).

Thank you, Esura~

Also, looking forward to this. Never played it.

I haven't either. As a Kojima fan I must rectify this.

Always wanted to play it but every time I look for it its on the high side for new copies and used copies are usually cheap but in poor condition.

I didn't know no one had called the OP, or I might have done it, so instead I gave Retro some supplementary material.

ZoE1 is okay, but ZoE2 is quite possibly the greatest mecha game ever made, so I think it deserves some extra love.

So would you say it's better than Armored Core For Answer? I love the shit out of that game. Only mech game that made me feel like I was in an episode of RahXephon or something.

Definitely, different kinds of games though. AC is big stompy(if boosted) mechs, ZoE is lightning fast.

Same here. By the time I did find the copy at a convention last May, it was grossly overpriced and I don't own a PS2 anymore. :(

So you don't have to abuse boost like in AC4 and For Answer to go all anime fast in ZoE?

This is why I crave HD collections. So many PS2 games I missed out on, and I felt I played a lot of them as is at the time.

I'm sad about SH HD, always wanted to play that. :(

I always have a hard time considering ZoE a mech game because it's so different than every other game associated with the genre.

Which is why so many people who like ZoE tend to not like many other mech games.

The robots in ZoE have no weight or sense of momentum, so game ends up playing more like a straight action game than any other mech games like Armored Core. Or even Virtua on and the gundam games, where movement is alot more strict.

Ah, so its more...arcade-y. Cool. Its something I wish more mech games did instead of making me feel like I'm controlling a tank with boosts although I've gotten used to those over the years. I understand why they do that since its more "realistic" I guess.

I miss Virtua On Ontario Tangram...no hope for a re release on that I wager....

Yeah to me ZOE(and especially ZOE2) is so different from normal mech games that it should fall into the Super Robo Mecha genre. Or something. lol

It's definitely not about being charge of a huge stompy mech but more about being behind the reins of a mechanized avatar of unlimited potential.

I picked up the PS3 HD collection over the weekend when I went out to get a used copy of Fire Emblem 3DS finally. Haven't had a chance to play it but I hope the problems mentioned get patched eventually.

Looking forward to trying it out once I have a chance.

It is somewhat hard to compare. Speeds are probably higher in AC: for Answer, but are more twitchy and less consistent. Jehuty moves somewhat slower, but moves more smoothly and can maintain its speed without limit. Pretty much anything Jehuty does, it does continuously and elegantly. The best way to sum up the difference is in flying ability: a NEXT still needs to burn energy to maintain a constant altitude, while Jehuty can just effortless hover. Of course,
Jehuty can eventually use Zero Shift to effectively teleport, shooting its speed up into unmatchable territory.

Wait....had to Google search that.

Wow, there was a new one? On 360 only? Wtf? I don't have Gold anymore so I wouldn't be able to play online...

The patch did improve things greatly for Bayonetta on PS3, I watched a video comparison since I got the game post patch and I probably couldn't have put up with those awful loading times the original game had.

Please, if someone gets this for PS3 post your comments as soon as possible, I want to know if the frame rate isn't much of a problem in the entire game so I can decide whether to buy it soon or not.

Well that's all subjective. I'm not going to tell you it's not a problem so much that I don't mind the drops as much as other people.

I'd say if you can play Bayonetta on PS3 and enjoy it, you can do the same here really.

Its weird, I was more pissed off about the loading in Bayonetta than the frame rates, which didn't bother me at all. I hardly noticed personally. Until I asked around and found out Bayonetta was outsourced for the PS3 port I was swearing at PG constantly for the ungodly long loading times for pausing (PAUSING!) and going through menus and all that shit. I loved that game but...those loading times...my god.

Bayo PS3 was my goty in 2010. Quality action is quality action.

They eventually patched the loading times to a passable state. Yes, originally it was GOD awful.

Only game I can think of with worse loading is Sonic 2006. Shows how good the core gameplay Bayonetta is though regardless of platform as that would be a game breaker for me if it was any other game.

Oh I know, it's just that I'd prefer to read the opinion of someone who has actually played the game and yeah, I guess I won't have much of a trouble considering I played Bayonetta and both Mass Effect 2 and 3 on PS3 :p

Edit: Thanks for the review Torgo, will read right away!

But aren't ME2 and 3 considered better on PS3? The only reason I've seen people recommend those two on 360 instead because of ME1, which is now an obsolete reason with the ME collection coming out for PS3.

On the Vita front... Was it a different dev working on it, just like the MGS2/3 on Vita?

Embargo is officially lifted. Here's my review for the PS3 version

There's an embargo for a re-make? News to me.

@Esura
ME3 is shit on the PS3. Framerate problems.

Okay, PS3 version has pressure sensitive presses alright.

Edit: Okay, made it as far as Deimos Station and I'm going to call it a night. Now I can see some of the issues with the PS3 version.

I should note that if you never played ZOE2 on the PS2, you're not going to be effected by this much. The game has been a bit slower than the PS2 version so far, but it does not actually mess up the controls at all (like a poster in the previous topic noted, the game engine had a quirk where it slowed down the entire game in the original as to still keep the controls responsive). For the areas so far, the game seems to try to hover around 30 fps and dips a bit when you do things like swing Raptors in mosquito swarms.

First Nephitis fight is a bit slower than the original, but doesn't drop in framerate when she destroys stuff in the environment.

First Anubis fight was about as bad as it was in the PS2 version; if you let its Blood burst attack follow you around, it can actually get worse than the PS2 version did at times. But as a complete *Psyduck.gif* moment, the actual cutscene before and after the Anubis battle runs better than it did in the PS2 version (where there, the cutscene was kinda chugging).

son of a...

so I have a "We'll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date for this item. It will ship separately. You can cancel at any time." On my Amazon order for my 2 PS3 LE copies....I don't know if it is because of Sandy or because I wont be getting my copies. I preordered when it went live too. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise lol.

I canceled my limited edition order. I haven't decided if I'm just going to get the standard edition or not. That artbook being paperback is disappointing, though.

Apparently, Amazon gave me release day delivery even though I put my order in early yesterday morning after cancelling the PS3 version so I'm getting it tomorrow. Good on ye Amazon!

Would like to see some 360 version impressions regarding the difference in controls since the 360 lacks pressure sensitive face buttons.

Every single KojiPro Premium Package or Limited Edition has included a paperback artbook with MGS HD LE being the exception. Not a big deal.
