There's still enjoyment to be found with JP2 (probably because at the very least it was still directed by Spielberg), but I remember having nothing but disdain for the third one.

Going back to the original island and getting Sam Neill back sounded great, but it just turned out bad in every way. I remember being really disappointed in the special effects at the time and even ore so now. The animatronic dinosaurs look fake in a way that the previous 2 movies managed to avoid for the most part.

I still remember being annoyed at the ending too. They call the chick from the first movie and because her husband happens to work for the army/military/navy/whatever he managed to send in a full massive rescue team for the idiots who got trapped on the island.

Not to be nitpicky, but both 2 and 3 were on Isla Sorna, while JP1 was on Isla Nublar. JP4 is supposedly returning to Nublar.

JP2 is kinda the "Batman Forever" of the series, where it doesn't know if it wants to be serious or cheesy. JP3 is the "Batman & Robin" and goes pretty much full blown cheesy, and ends up being watchable in a "hilariously bad" kinda way.

Yeah the only thing that really irked me with JpIII was the whole "I can communicate with the raptors and give back the eggs" nonsense. Otherwise it's far better than The Lost World, whose only redeeming feature was a Rex in the city.

I dunno if it's entirely that it's worse or just they tried using CG rather than models for too many shots that couldn't hold up with the CG. Late 90s and early 2000s movies often have that problem.

But JPII had some issues, too.

Sure this is silly as fuck, but overall JP2 is awesome. The tall grass and that amazing beat that plays, the cliff scene with the camper, the Tyrannosaurs constantly chasing the group, the Compies. Amazing soundtrack, beautiful vistas.
Look at this, it's super cool because you know it's coming from the very first minute. You know the velociraptors are in this movie, you're waiting 90 minutes and then this moment where they finally appear and take out like 75% of the entire team in 20 seconds.

I loved it.
