If they released their stuff on PC they'd probably get money from me.

Currently they get zero from me as I have no interest in consoles at all and don't plan to purchase one.

The money they would see from people like you who would pick up a couple of their games (possibly even on a Steam sale) is nowhere near as valuable as the money they receive from people like me, who did purchase their console, and numerous of their games for it. I already have a PC, and certainly would not have bought an Xbox One (or Xbox Live, which I've now had for a decade) if my PC offered all of the games their consoles do. The math just doesn't work out.

That's not even considering the number of people that buy only an Xbox and not a Playstation, who would by the Playstation instead of becoming PC gamers.

Agreed. the likely reason for the long time is because GPU drivers on PC side will take a while to ensure they support the API.

It will take them the next 18-24 months to utilize them with the games they are currently working on. So targeting games releasing in holiday 2015 makes sense. And that is probably an early guess from MS.

Expect mid 2016 or even late 2016.

Mantle clearly pushed them, otherwise it wouldn't be at least 18 months away.

You clearly have no idea what goes into developing software and sdks. AMD and Dice did not have to be concerned with an existing codebase and it still took them multiple years to develop Mantle. Microsoft has to deal with the code base which takes time as you need to determine potential vulnerabilities and incompatibilities. Then, they must create the documentation to send out to developers. Then, the developers have to implement DirectX 12 features in their game which takes time. Finally, there's some marketing considerations. Do we release on X version of windows or not?

There might be some performance gains like automatic threading of some rendering tasks, but it doesn't seem anything major. The biggest benefit is that the apis between Pc and xbox are going to be closer than ever, so it should be really easy to port on each direction.

Other than that, Dx12 seems to give more control over multiple gpus setups, which also will be handy when Ms unleashes all the discrete gpus on the bone.

WoW, LoL and Dota 2 and whatever else Tencent and Perfect World publish there.

Valve showed some stats at SDD. They said hardware wise the PCs over there are pretty modern, enough to exploit them with the latest OGLs, since that doesn't depends on the OS like DX. Now would they benefit from that? Who knows. Valve certainly factored that in their OGL push.

No, the big thing with DX12 was all the stuff they talked about during that brief Forza demo.

Caching pipeline state, caching resource tables, developer control of GPU memory allocation and lifetime.

Those are all huuuuuuuuuuge, and stuff that developers have been asking for for years.
