With Sony taking a step back with the 950, is there any clear cut best gaming TV for 2014 yet?
I haven't seen one yet, but there is one model that I'm holding out hope for. That said, I'm kind of picky.
So far I've owned a couple Panasonic UT50s and an S64 and returned them all due to various issues (buzzing, dithering, posterization, line bleed). I tried the VT60 which everyone loves but it still exhibited line bleed that was too much for me to ignore, and I'm a plasma fan who's used to the tech and its flaws.
Disappointed with 2013 lineup of Panny plasmas (and final lineup they'll make), I realized my only option was to go to LCD. I picked up the Sony W900A, which is also raved about as a great gaming PC. I noticed dark edges on the left and right of the picture on two different sets I owned. Perhaps it's to compensate for the edge lighting, but it was annoying and the overall picture was too soft and underwhelming compared to my standards as a plasma fan.
I'm currently holding out for the new Vizio P Series. I would have never believed that I'd ever be interested in buying a Vizio, but the specs they revealed look unreal. Not so much the 4K, that's not a big factor. But it's backlit with full array local dimming, has high end processors and presumably low input lag, accepts 120Hz PC inputs, etc.
