Itagaki provides update on Devil's Third

There's the cboat's rumor about Platinum's XB1 exclusive though.

edit: But still, I do think MS is the most likely to be the publisher.
I'm aware of that, however this also lines up perfectly with what we know so far. Specially when you consider Itagaki's affinity to Microsoft.

who knows, maybe both will appear as part of the Xbox's Japanese launch exclusives.

a hopeful scenario for this game/Valhalla

- Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo/Amazon pay millions and millions for Devil's Third.
- Game become mega hit somehow.
- Facebook buy the IP from Itakagi for a billion.
- Itakagi buys Ninja Gaiden IP back from Tecmo.
- Itakagi burn NGZ and NG3 source codes and bury them next to E.T cartridges.
- Valhalla Release NGB on steam.
- Itakagi reboot Ninja Gaiden and give a real NG game.
You've seen my dreams.

At this point I'm convinced this is exclusive to some console. Not sure why they would hide the name of the new publisher if it was a third party, especially if it were being developed for a multiplat release.

Still hoping for the best.

Sorry for the self quote, but I just remembered something...

Itagaki said:
I wanted to go for the metallic feeling of the Breitling that I love so much. But I don't really wanna tell you exactly why, sorry ;D"

This sentence is key...

Detective mode ON again:

"metallic felling"... "metalic"...

Hmm...

Metal = Grey

Platinium = Grey

Platinium Games = Grey/metallic looking Logo.

PlatinumGames.png

"metallic feeling" = the feeling of a Platinum-Games-like Nintendo announcment in the same vein as Bayonetta 2's = Devil's Third Wii U Exclusive annoucement.

THIS MUST BE IT!

What else is also grey/metallic that would fit in the above line of thought????

Last year's E3 Nintendo Direct marked the first time the red Nintendo Direct Logo appeared GREY/METALLIC! °_°

So in other words, Devils Third Wii U Exclusive will be shown for the first time at this year's Nintendo Presentation/Nintendo E3 Direct.

Really hope its nintendo.

Because the Bayonetta2 situation was fun, but.... i dont like bayonetta

And i can maybe like this game

The game will be sent to die if it's Nintendo. Itagaki is smart and I'm sure he knows the violent nature of this game won't appeal to the Wii-U demographic, regardless of whatever Nintendo is trying to do to make the console appeal more to hardcore gamers, not to mention the poor sales of the system. The game was already almost complete (~80%) when he started shopping it around for a new publisher anyway, so it's not like the new publisher would help that much with development. Itagaki and his colleagues had put a mortgage on their homes to finish the game.

If it's not Sony, it's multiplat folks. It's not MS, and Nintendo can do nothing for the game now. It's not the same case as Bayonetta 2.

Just a thought...

Why would MS pick up Devils Third, but not Bayo 2, if Bayo 2 has an established fan base?

Sounds like the company that saved Bayo 2, would be the company that picks up Devils Third.

I can be completely wrong, of course.

edit: Wasnt there a rumor, months ago, about a new Wii U game, that had a hint like "you will bleed"? Its in an old thread. People were speculating that it was Devils Third.

Wow I really had MS penned for this game.

A Wii U exclusive would be kinda nice since it shows that Nintendo are committed to character action games.

Hopefully more CAG fans will stop whining and just buy the damn console and Nintendo will greenlight similar games
Who am I kidding, the internet will go insane, fricking Devil May Cry 5 could be a Wii U exclusive and ppl would still say NO GAMEZ

Or nobody would publish the game besides Nintendo like Bayo2, beggers cant be choosers if he wants the game to come out and wants to make some money and Nintendo says they will publish it, he is not gonna so NO

Besides the game wont light the chats on fire what ever platform it goes on anyways, and the WiiU has two Mature exclusives already Bayo2 and ZombiU this would be a nice addition

The thought of Itagaki completely melding character action games and third person shooters in one cohesive package is almost too much to handle. If it delivers...

It's pretty weird that this title of all titles has sparked some mini console war

From the Wii U games thread:

Rumour: the French journalist/indie guy/dev' is at it again. Tweeted today:

My rough translation :

"The WiiU Exclusive will indeed be announced this year and/with more (to come)! And it will Rox!"

https://twitter.com/NicoWav

The same guy who said he had seen a third party exclusive game for Wii U, from Japan and in the vein of Bayonetta, but a brand new IP.

I can already smell the tears if it's this game.

I really hope sony/nintendo didnt spend any money on this

Why? I can understand Sony, because they have enough Character Action games and didn't need YET ANOTHER one, but Nintendo? It's a genre that would fit quite nicely in the Wii U's gaming library.

Itagaki's games are usually technical feats. Whatever hardware they pick shouldn't hold the game back.

If I have followed this game's situation correctly, it was made for the PS3/Xbox 360? Several of my most anticipated upcoming games are in that class of hardware, and some, such as The Evil Within, are doing the whole "cross-gen" thing. Many games made for that class of hardware that released last year, GTAV, Last of Us, etc. were critically acclaimed and much enjoyed and nobody I know of has seen it as beneath those developers who made those games to have made them for that class of hardware... But if it's the whole "networked online shooter" thing you're implying that could be held back by certain platforms, then I might have to agree with that :-p

^ You know, when I look at their history of publishing deals, Nintendo as well as the others are all over the place, doing deals that I wouldn't stereotypically think they'd do. I didn't know Nintendo published Starcraft 64 back on the N64 for instance. I take the stance that it's none of my business what any of the platform holders want to spend their money on (Microsoft on Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon? Sony on Puppeteer? Nintendo on buying Monolithsoft?) and if they do spend it on something, it's they who bought the game for themselves to do what they want with it.

The thing is this is a online TPS though

and IIRC they partnered with a korean company for a tablet version. I don't think they want the game on any one platform

Which 3rd party would buy Devil's Third though?

It's a Japanese CAG a genre that doesn't sell that well nowadays, SEGA has a history of this sort of game but they seriously got burnt with Binary Domain so I'm unsure they'll be willing to take the risk. Capcom? aren't they having cash flow problems, Maybe it's Konami looking to branch out from Metal Gear since they had some good results with Rising?

EDIT: Hang on is DT multiplayer? Basically Anarchy Reigns with guns and parkour? If so that makes it more likely to be a 3rd party looking to strike it big with an early next gen MP game IMO.

because there are a million projects I'd rather see them do and they could do 5-10 of them for the amount of money pissed away on this shooter-with-gimmick #5979486890

Wii U or Xbox One exclusive I'm guessing. Whatever it is, whatever company is responsible for the publishing just needs to reveal it already.

I think Jordan is not implying the Wii U couldn't handle Devil's Third, rather that the game would look nice no matter what, since "Itagaki's games are usually technical feats". Even if it came out on PS/360 it would probably look good.
Now that a lot of evidence is heavily pointing at the Wii U, we can expect a REALLY good-looking game!

As ive mentioned, months ago, there was a tweet about a rumored new Wii U game, with the hint "you will bleed", or something like that. Now go watch the trailer, and see whats being exaggerated. Add that with this info, its definitely a possibility.

You got a source? Or is this information from 2010 before the game dissappeared into publisher-finding/development libo?

That old trailer is certainly bloody, if true you could be onto something there

It was post THQ cancellation and the most recent (official)news about the game prior to it resurfacing this year(2012)

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...hird-back-on-track-via-joint-deal-with-doobic

So to me the Nintendo partnership seems the least likely because A: They want it on as many platforms as possible and B: It's supposed to have online modes, both for multiplayer(Itagaki has talked about playercount in past interviews) and connectivity with other platforms.

Both don't seem to fit Nintendo as Nintendo doesn't really seem to support tie-ins with other platforms and local multiplayer seems to be a much bigger focus for Wii-U as a platform than online

Unless the studio's core ideas for the game have changed radically since 2012.(to where it pretty much only shares a name with the game they were making in 2010) I think we can pretty safely rule out a Nintendo exclusive partnership.

After rewatching the 2010 trailer for Devils Third, I've noticed that this scene here would probably work pretty well with the gyro-sensors and second screen of the Wii U Gamepad when used as a cross-hair for the bazooka for example.

All of that info is thoroughly out of date at this point. It could be something completely different by the time it's revealed.

It's all we have to go on.

Vs just imagining it could be whatever we want it to be!

I dont see why nintendo would pick this up.

Devils third may turn to be a good game, but right now is totally untested, so theres no fanbase to follow (not like much of the bayonetta fanbase will do that, but at least theres a chance). As it is, it would be just an action game on a nintendo platform, hence, ignored by most people.

Itagaki also got out of koei in a very bad way and koei is one of the few partners of nintendo out there. Getting along with Itagaki might set a bad mood between the two.

In Japan, none of the ninja gaiden did actually good. And Nintendo is very Japan centric.

Not even for salt this would be that big, again, because theres no fanbase.

The only reason why i think nintendo would pay for DT is to push even more focus on action games, which they are trying to do, but i guess there are better options. Right now, people cheering for this probably want only to see the world burn, but in the end, it would be only a small elevation on temperature.

I'm excited. Been waiting for this for a while. Its sorta like ninja gaiden but with guns and stuff, right? That 2008 trailer looked badass.

I'm pretty sure the Wii U version of Pure Chess can play online with iOS and Android users. it may not be too comparable but it's something

edit: didn't Nintendo also publish Ninja Gaiden 3 for Wii U?

Nor that it matters now that we know MS doesn't have this, but people were saying that because MS and Itagaki have a strong history.
