don't get me wrong, i appreciate surprise in games. in infamous i loved that they only showed 2 powers and left the rest to the player. but even infamous, a much shorter game then watchdogs apparent length showed off story missions, and there is a reason for that. it's more exciting to demo. watchdogs has 40 hours of story...showing off 10 or 20 minutes of it isn't going to ruin anything. now, if they went all out and demo'd 20 hours of it, that would be a mistake. but they need to show something more then just wandering around with your hands in your pockets hacking phones, i don't care if they think it's the biggest innovation in open world games ever...it makes for a boring demo.

Also ask if the Touchpad and Kinect have any features for them with the game.?

Can you fail a Story mission but the game continue/change path?

Once the game is complete is there extra options/things to do once you are fully equipped up?

In WD they serve more of a purpose, because the world attempts to be more immersive and interactive to the player. For this Infamous I think it is fine. For future titles, they will need to differentiate, and making more interaction with the city and populace is probably needed.

'Story-based sandbox game in an open world setting'? Basically one in the same no? It just boils down to how detailed your sandbox world is... It's not a mismatch. An open-world game can be compared to another open world game. Infamous had a pretty bland open-world with not a whole lot to do. That doesn't mean the game was awful and should be abandoned and best forgotten. And, so you're saying infamous wasn't going for immersive and interactive? Honestly? I'd love to hear a game developer actually spit that out in an interview. "So with this game... We're doing our best to stay away from immersive and interactive elements... We feel that's been overdone in the gaming world. I mean, honestly who wants to be immersed in what they're doing? Who REALLY wants to interact with things anyway? Know what I'm saying? Basically we just want you to push buttons and stuff. Or not... Ya know."

I enjoyed the 12-14 hours (est) I put into the plat for that game but goddamn if some fans aren't going just a bit far on justifying the shortcomings of it. It was a fun, good game. It had some shortcomings. That's ok! It doesn't HAVE to be perfect fellas.

OT... Great.. Graphics maybe back on track... We'll know for sure when the game launches, and with recent events involving multiple other games, I'm not trusting a damn thing I see until its released and being seen by more than the developer or press. That being said, can we hear about and see some more gameplay now?

Justifying what? Of course it has shortcommings, but are you saying that the fact that it doesn't offer the kind of scale and diversity offered by GTA was not down to design? Does every open world game have to offer that? I prefer the fact that not every game I play takes me 50+ hours to complete. Personally, I think the combat and traversal in Infamous on the flip side gives it distinct advantageous over games such as GTA. More dynamic and tactile. That is not to say it doesn't have flaws, it does. The city does indeed feel rather like a sandbox and not a 'real' city simulation. Plot and gameplay, aside from the intro sequence was not exactly seemless, and often felt paper thin. Missions were not particularly varied or epic. It definitely could have been more ambitious, but I think it is a fun first effort on the new console. I will definitely be expecting more bulk in their next title.

All looks present and correct, there is the strongest one at the end of the trailer when Aiden crashes through the Bollard.

DoF and Bokeh are alive and well in WatchDogs on PS4
 
Like I said in my first post after seeing the video. I couldn't tell when the awesome stuff started, the only thing I understood was that the water was using Tessellations. I even watched it a few times to see what I was missing. When I opened the thread and read the first reply I rushed over to the vid over hyped to see something awesome.

I mainly play PC games lately. New convert, loading PC games are convenient and I can alt tab to check gaf/internets or just use the second screen if it's full screen windowed.

Today I learned what HDAO and HBAO was. Thanks Farcry 3.

Huh. When I watched it it just looked like a standard gaussian to me, but in that first screen you can tell that their bokeh is actually pretty damn good. Withdrawn.

still, for a 40 hour campaign, i think ill be ok if they spoil an early story mission, so i can get a general flow of how those play out in terms of hacking and combat and progression.

guess there is always the quicklook.

I'm betting even a 750 ti would handle solid 30 FPS fine (assuming relative parity). I'd like to hear more about what to expect of the PC version myself, although I'm wary of the game because of recent gimped ports (AC3 / AC4).
 
LOL wow...Re-reading this thread again was amazing.
I was so confused when I saw the title+PS4 included in it.
I thought that this was a new topic for the PS4, and it was using a quick copy/paste for the title of the PC topic one instead.

And boy, I am great I was on the right side saying that the game still looks bad.

I was rather shocked to see an eight thread CPU as the recommended along with a 2GB GPU. I find it strange though that they recommend a 2GB GPU, but list the 560Ti, which is a 1GB card. I'm feeling better about going with the PS4 version, as I didn't think my 580 was going to be able to match the PS4's settings.

There's a 2GB variant of the 560 Ti. These look like the same specs leaked last year.

8 cores have 16 threads. I think Steam made a mistake. The Intel 3770k only has 4 cores, 8 threads, as you noted.

The 7850 is much faster than a 560Ti too. The 560 stands out like a sore thumb next to the 7850, and also next to the 2GB recommendation like you said.
 
I'm guessing they're talking about the TI version with 2GB of VRAM.

Doesn't seem like everyone needs to go out and do a massive upgrade, so next gen hasn't pushed much.

It's funny you mention that...

A friend commented on Infamous: SS today, and noted how it looked similar to a pre-rendered FF cutscene. It's a trend I'm noticing more and more in next-gen games.

It has something to do with the lighting, I think...
