It's a great game with the world's most annoying fanbase.

I said what I think is true. If your childish reaction to that is to try and call me out for something that, even if true, has no bearing on anything I said, then that says more about you than it does me.
That is some true bullshit, especially coming from a Nintendo fan.

I didn't like it either, although I didn't get all that far. Up to thesniper part where you have to protect Henry, Sam, and Ellie.
Basically I realized that I was playing the game less for the game itself, and more because I wanted to see how the story progressed.
Lets be honest, the Naughty Dog fanbase has been downright awful when they see perceived slights against the company and their games. Surely we haven't forgotten the vitriol from the Uncharted 3 review thread. They are also extremely loud with their lavish praise of TLOU. We've had multiple absurd threads today alone about TLOU and its remake, its like XenoBlade diehards to the nth degree.

Sure, but look at this thread. It's been fair and understanding. On the flipside, I once asked if it was worth getting Dark Souls with the sequel coming out so soon and I got attacked pretty much by several people for daring to ask that question. Now that's one shitty fucking fanbase.
This thread has so many Shots so far....
BANG BANG
The production values are insane. It's impressive. The actual mechanics are solid for a stealth game but nothing revolutionary and mostly just functional. The plot isn't as great as everybody makes it out to be. And it's glitchy. It pushes the ps3 really hard. Online was definetely fun for a while. I can see why people like it but nowhere near the best game ever made.
Not sure how to categorize this one, but Wii U fanboys who refuse to acknowledge that any game not coming to Wii u is good.
Person 1: "Did you hear Arkham Knight isnt coming to Wii U"
Person 2: "Who cares, those games have never been good"
I don't think people like that exist. Then literally every multiplatform game for the rest of the generation will never be 'good' in their eyes.
Agreed. Bill and the Prologue was the only thing I liked about the first half.everything until after pittsburgh was plain forgettable for me.
Too bad. Just when the game starts getting good.I didn't like it either, although I didn't get all that far. Up to thesniper part where you have to protect Henry, Sam, and Ellie.
Basically I realized that I was playing the game less for the game itself, and more because I wanted to see how the story progressed. When I feel like I'm forcing myself to play a game, that's a huge red flag that I just don't like it and should stop.
I can't really say why I didn't like the gameplay either. I think it's just that I found the combat to be extremely frustrating and a chore to go through. Something about the shooting just didn't feel good. The stealth felt awkward too. *shrug*
I cant even count how many times I have seen it
The wii u gamefaqs board is hell on earth
He'd come for any job if it weren't for this port.Druckman's coming for your job now.
it's not like I made the comment in a vacuum. It's just a response to people flippantly calling tlou 'best game ever' because of some expensive production values and a story that tries too hard to be poignant. I have no metric for 'best game ever' I jugs know that last of us isn't.Comments like this are silly.
Pray tell, what is the best game ever made? And how do you quantify being near it?
Certainly not the worst, but it does get pretty awful sometimes. If anyone needs a reminder: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=65884681&postcount=824 and http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=32102086&postcount=3251Not even close
Too bad. Just when the game starts getting good.
I've always hated this line of reasoning personally. If I can play a game for hours before getting to where the game "starts getting good", then that game can fuck right off, and stop wasting my time.
If it's where the game "gets even better" then sure.
i feel the same way about game of thrones. I watched the first episode and didnt like it. So many people have told me it gets good around episode 5 or 6. Thats like 5-6 hours of me wanting to kill myself to maybe get some enjoyment out of it. The reasoning just doesnt make sense.

Totally understandable. I suffered through the first few hours only because I was wondering where the masterpiece everyone was talking about was. Fortunately it revealed itself after the 50% waypoint and turned into my second favourite game of the year. There is no other game I can remember that manages such a drastic turn in quality. So yeah normally I would be right with you, but I have to make an exception for this game. I totally understand though that it is probably not worth it for many people.I've always hated this line of reasoning personally. Yes it does. It is relative to the length of the medium.
If you are watching one of the best movies in and expect yourself to think its the best movie in 10 minutes in, then you're being ridiculous.
Same if you are playing a 100 hour game and expect to love it after 3 hours.
Or a 40+ episode show after 1 episode.
I didn't like it either. Don't worry about it imo; not everyone's into these sort of games. I played through Uncharted 1-3 and didn't like them either. This is probably considered blasphemy on here but oh well.

Then they would have to switch the genre most likely and write a lot more story or they would have left with a 2 hour long game. TLoU is so tight because a 2 hour story is stretched over 14 hours with compelling gameplay and there are no choices whatsoever. It's a linear experience. Changing that would have most likely compromised the quality of the story. They are both completely different ballgames and not comparable at all in terms of writing workload.I wish the game had just been closer to a movie. The plot of the last of us just didn't hook me enough to justify wading through the OK gameplay. Naughty Dog could have pared it down a lot and been left with a tight experience that actually executes the idea Quantic Dream has been attempting for some time.
That was a bad day. Same with the thread about the Metro map asset being stolen or something. That Ellen Page sniping makes me angry :/
Probably the worst on the planet. Don't even own a Wii U or 3DSYou're such a Nintendo fanboy.
But I just can't find myself getting engaged by the gameplay, and I can't quite put my finger on why. Gameplay is solid, course, as expected from ND. It's not the stealth element, as I can play the hell out of games like MGS.
Does it get better? Does it change up later, or is it going to be more of this for another eight hours? Because I'm not sure I can slog my way through it if that's the case
