Yea, I'm just glad I didn't get a panel that is very susceptible to IR.

Try the Pixel Jogger left on overnight to clean up stubborn IR. That's what I use after long sessions of FFXIV leave the game UI all over my VT60.

where is the pixel jogger located? never heard of that on a panny tv. there is the scroll bar and then the pixel orbiter but thats an on or off thing.

My first 64f8500 was pretty quick to get IR but also quick to go away. I had to make a couple of exchanges due to other problems but the one I own now us much better. I have gamed for a few hours at a time with no problems but it's still so new (less than two weeks) I haven't pushed it yet. I have read through both the F8500 threads on AVS and to my knowledge no one has had an issue at all. I also bought a Best Buy warranty that covers burn-in for peace of mind. This is really a phenomenal TV.

I have the same series, and mine's gotten worse with age. I first noticed long-lasting retention with Puzzle Quest 2 in 2010. I had a tech come out to inspect the set, but they said that it didn't qualify as defective.
This is even after I followed the panel aging instructions on AVS Forum that were supposed to reduce the risk of image retention.

W855A or W855B?
Cause 855A is the outgoing (and superior) 2013 model.
Not many reviews but it's essentially a W900A "lite" XL. (120 Hz instead of 240 Hz, keeping the rest and going for 65" rather than 55")

Is it me or is the canadian equivalent of the Sony W800B, the w790B, worst and also overpriced compared to the american W800B?
I think the w790b is gimped(not a 120 hz screen) Though I'm not a hundred percent sure.

It is overpriced, apparently Sony does that with Canadian models, but I think most TVs are?
About the Motionflow, it should definitely be a 120 Hz screen, since only the 600b should be 60 Hz, but I don't know what the different XR rates mean. There is this thread on avsforum which does not tell me a whole lot either. I haven't been able to find a confirmation whether the Canadian model is actually different. Also, apparently in the store it can actually be a w800B without saying the same on the website.
You must think about whether you use motionflow at all though, personally I just turn it off on my TV.
Also, you made me realize I used the wrong TV the advice I posted on the previous page for someone.
Can't really help you with the rest of your questions, but don't bother comparing prices of Canadian tv's with their American equivalent. It will simply end in tears and/or rage.
We get completely screwed up here on tv prices. And it's not just Sony. Seems to be pretty universal.

Haven't looked at TVs for years, I just want something 42"-50" around £500.
Sony KDL42W653 and Panasonic TX-L42ET60B look interesting, are they any good for gaming?
Edit: is it worth doubling my budget for a 46W905A? Coming from DLP I just want decent motion, low input lag and some good contrast.
I think I'm gonna go for the 46W905A, but now the 50W829 looks tempting too.

Not really no, but for a few hundred more you can go 4K with the 55x850a.
I believe it has ~40ms lag

Not in a million, billion, trillion years would I ever downgrade my 2009-purchased KRP-500M for any video display in existence, or any coming out this year. Black level is the most important thing when shopping for a video display. I couldn't care less about size.

I don't even think it's available here in Europe and even if it is, it's probably double the price. 2300$ for a 4K Sony TV is INSANE. That's how much I'll be paying for the 55" W905A. And I'd have to add another 350-400$ if I went the 55" VT60 route, which I'm still considering.

Gave my brother my 5020fd no regret here for gaming my 900a is better no contest.
I'm just jealous. I can understand wanting the lower input lag on the 900a. I'm just pissed that the 900a AND Panasonic plasmas will be gone by the time I'm looking to invest in a new set later this year.
Pretty much why I'm getting one (leaning towards the 905a) in the next two weeks. I was tempted to wait and see how Panasonic's "plasma-like black" upcoming LCDs turn out, but that's later in the year, right?

actually i don't game as much as before, but games are the main reason why i'd want to upgrade to a 1080p panel (still have a 720p tv)
I can relate so much to this. I'm in the same boat. Only I do have more than 120cms and so I'm deciding between the 55" W905A and the 55" VT60. The latter is 500 EUR more though and I'm not sure if having to deal with all the (admittedly rather small) plasma tech oddities is worth the superior picture quality & higher price.

In the Netherlands the prices of the W905 and the VT60 are quite close (50 EUR difference). After doubting for a long time I chose the W905. I had many doubts afterwards if I had taken the right decision, but now I am very happy with it.
I have to say that I have never owned a plasma, so I was a bit hesitant to buy a plasma anyway.

i can't decide whether the superior PQ is worth the weight, hassle, power consumption, image retention (that everyone keeps saying hasn't been an issue for the last 10 years, except i keep seeing people pop up and claim they have some logo stuck in the middle of their screen
ok, so maybe it's not permanent and can be erased but still).Now that sony in particular seems to have a not so great 3D mode (limited resolution and color depth in 3D), which bothers me quite a lot..
