I know I'm supposed to hate this, but... I kind of didn't?

I mean, the onii-sama stuff is stupid (and at least it's someway played for laughs), but otherwise as far as high school fantasy shows go it's... not bad? It's got decent animation and a large, varied cast of characters who don't all have their tits out or say nyan at the end of every sentence; yes, the lead is impossibly perfect, and the dialogue is Exposition Central, but frankly I rather enjoyed it.

Strip me of my monocle immediately!
or at least until Ping Poing airs

The weekly gaming side thread has appeared.

Yeah saw that last night. Soooo bad. That thread's premise is so loaded it could practically be an OT thread about Christianity. That's how loaded that topic is.

The Vision of Escaflowne 1-14

Oh come on !
How long is that dick Dilandau going to get away with it.
Nothing quite like choral music to make a fight epic.

The show was decent throughout but really picked up these past few episodes. Thankfully the writers seem to have abandoned the Hitomi x Gourry clone love affair, at least for now. The cat lady stopped being annoying too.

Though all my FMA predictions came to naught, I'd venture to say that
Allen's mysterious father is the Zaibach's emperor. Growing up without a father must run in the family.

Someone's watching Escaflowne!? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS

Wait a sec, that first pic. I thought it was money but NO IT WAS HIM, DIO.

I would proudly spend Dio bucks.

Is The Order a Rabbit? 01

I remember the first time I heard of this show. During the commercial breaks for Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb. Several months later, not only this, but Yuyushiki and Kiniro Mosaic have all gotten anime adaptations. I hope that Kirara series keep coming for the foreseeable future. They're consistently some of my favorite anime, even if I'm lucky to only get one of them per season.

The setting's vaguely European, but everybody has Japanese names. It's a bit out of the norm. No sign of Syaro, but I got Risa Taneda basically playing military Ayaya. It's an odd element for the show, but it's not even the strangest one, and Rize is cute enough when she tries to act normal. Cocoa has the usual Ayaneru feisty personality (what is it with her and redheads?), and while I keep thinking of Inori Minase as Suzu, the voice she's using for Chino is much closer to her Gre-chan voice from RGZ. Maybe deadpan is her type.

The humor worked. Tippy's adorable in the same way as Pannya from Mashiro-iro Symphony is, and the coffee gag in particular landed.
Oh, and Tippy also has the spirit of Chino's grandfather inside and speaks with the voice of an old man. Did not see that one coming.
This is very quickly in the running for one of my favorite anime of the season. Heartwarming/daily life to the core, but there's enough unusual elements in it that I can see it catching on. Can't wait to return to Cafe Floofy next week.

This was actually pretty funny, so it has more than just the cuteness aspect. Fans of Kiniro Moasic should definitely check this out.

This is probably old news to most of you guys, but I've been out of the loop for some time, and I just watched that updated sakuga panel at Anime Central in Chicago, some truly excellent stuff, a really good starting point for getting into Japanese animation.

I assume most people here saw it, but for those that haven't, here's the playlist.

I haven't, thanks

I'm sure this is as good of a place to go to for recommendations if any.

I recently finished Steins;Gate, and man. That would go down as my GOAT if FMA:B didn't exist. I really liked how the plot kept me hooked and made me binge through it all. The amount of sci fi was perfect, and the romance was there but not overdone.

I'm looking for something new, similar. Any ideas?

Have you seen anything outside of FMA:B and Steins;Gate?

-10 minutes in, and we already have a talking rabbit (that looks more like a cat, if you ask me) and a gun-wielding part-timer in underwear. This could be tough.

-The setting is probably Germany (or perhaps Austria), yet the prices are in yen. Strange.

-Kind of getting tired of the stereotype that girls are supposed to be weak.

-And a bath scene. Of course.

The "rabbit" is Chino's grandfather?

I don't know, it was cute, but it was also kinda pandering. Hard to get a good read on it.

Could you mention some animes you enjoyed that were nothing like those? It would make it easier to recommend stuff.

EDIT: Eh, just go with Monster.

Oh yeah. I was a fan of Sword Art Online, despite the popular opinion I've seen on here.

Eden of the East
DBZ
Fairy Tail
Death Note
the original FMA
Cowboy Bebop

Those are all the ones I can think of off the top of my head that I enjoyed.

You probably might enjoy Fate/Zero and Darker than Black

I'll reinforce my Monster recommendation, but I'd also mention Darker than Black and maybe Code Geass.

So is the anime. Since she is inscure about here strengh, she will surely have a story were she learns that being a strong girl isn't anything bad.

Darker than Black is a good recommendation. I'll also throw in Samurai Champloo and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. The former is the same director as Cowboy Bebop and the latter is the same director as Eden of the East. It's also great Sci-Fi, which you seem interested in.

Isn't Trigun on Netflix? I have a friend who freaked out when I told him I've never seen it, so its on my list.

Also, Fate/Zero sounds interesting.

I'd say he should go with the Ghost in the Shell movies first if he hasn't watched those, at least the first one. But yeah, he'll definitely enjoy it.

Funny thing about Samurai Champloo and Ghost in the Shell is, I've seen SO MUCH of them back when I was younger and they were on Adult Swim Saturday nights, yet can't remember a single thing about them. I'll have to go back through them again.

Also if he chooses to watch Innocence he should dodge 2.0 like the trash it is and watch the original.

Champloo's soundtrack <3

Nujabes was a genius.

Is it bad? I was really looking forward to it but never got to actually watch it.

What a shame.
