The romance angle is more that they're so focused on tennis and only have few scenes to just themselves since they basically go to the club everyday. But I'd like to point out (spoilered just in case). The romance aspect has very little drama which I appreciate, just two people who really click together.they do actually start going out and not too terribly far in the manga
Typical sports arc is more of a continuous sports arc where he might get good enough to beat character A after one year, but then he meets character B, C, D, E, bla bla bla who are all hurdles that could easily beat him. The manga emphasizes that once you're a good player a game could go either way and might be won by one the very last 'game' (game as in game, set, match) due to stamina being out or a human mistake. Nobody says "Damn that guy is #1 and that guy is #2, he could never beat him".
I do want to emphasize that the characters don't go through massive drama. When we were discussing the manga before with other people, somebody else called it 'very straightforward'. There's no melodrama whatsoever and it's a very lighthearted feel throughout the show, but the games themselves can get very intense.
His biggest issue is that he discovers tennis so late and his older peers (teachers, parents) don't like the idea of this guy who was at the top of the class academically putting all of that as second to tennis. But he goes through multiple views of tennis and what it means to him, how far he's willing to go for it vs it just being a hobby to exercise.
What I do need to point out is that even though it isn't a team sports anime/manga, the side characters are very well done and you genuinely come to enjoy his plethora of rivals. They aren't douches and are working just as hard as him.
To be fair, if a show ain't equal to Friday Night Lights, then I'm already going to be checked out. lolThat's fine, I can't expect everybody to like it as much as I do. Different strokes for different blokes. I'll only push it if somebody asks, but the circumstances surrounding Baby Steps are too immersive for me.
Jesus I forgot how long FMAB is. Maybe I won't watch the whole show again but only episodes I want to rewatch.
Nanana's Buried Treasure 1
-About $50 per month in rent? Holy crap.
It's ok though, after watching so much Kate, Plamya and Natasha, I can stand any ridiculous over the top drama Golden Time can throw at me.
Maybe.
You fuckers spent 30 pages talking about bananas when you could have talked about peaches, the superior fruit.
The Vision of Escaflowne 1-14
Oh come on !Nothing quite like choral music to make a fight epic. How long is that dick Dilandau going to get away with it.
The show was decent throughout but really picked up these past few episodes. Thankfully the writers seem to have abandoned the Hitomi x Gourry clone love affair, at least for now. The cat lady stopped being annoying too.
Though all my FMA predictions came to naught, I'd venture to say thatAllen's mysterious father is the Zaibach's emperor. Growing up without a father must run in the family.
But I could be following you on the instagramz or whatever it is the kids use. lol
Wait, are you calling people who like good old fashioned ultraviolence and full frontal nudity sick freaks?
Also, the core problem with Elfen Lied is that once you stripped away the blood it was pretty much Love Hina.
Figures that I already followed you. lolI do have Twitter. Same username as on here.
Is it too much to ask for an update to the OP?
All I remember about that show is the awful awful awful ending. Also, the core problem with Elfen Lied is that once you stripped away the blood it was pretty much Love Hina.
Yeah saw that last night. Soooo bad. That thread's premise is so loaded it could practically be an OT thread about Christianity. That's how loaded that topic is.
Someone's watching Escaflowne!? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS
I would proudly spend Dio bucks.
Is the Order a Rabbit? 1
This was actually pretty funny, so it has more than just the cuteness aspect. Fans of Kiniro Moasic should definitely check this out.
I'm sure this is as good of a place to go to for recommendations if any.
I recently finished Steins;Gate, and man. That would go down as my GOAT if FMA:B didn't exist. I really liked how the plot kept me hooked and made me binge through it all. The amount of sci fi was perfect, and the romance was there but not overdone.
I'm looking for something new, similar. Any ideas?
Oh yeah. I was a fan of Sword Art Online, despite the popular opinion I've seen on here.
Eden of the East
DBZ
Fairy Tail
Death Note
the original FMA
Cowboy Bebop
Those are all the ones I can think of off the top of my head that I enjoyed.
Arjuna makes Ferngully look subtle, and its total inability to maintain a scientific basis for its claims severely undercuts its message despite touching on many actual and important issues.
There's really no such thing as "shounen ping pong" simply because that would be totally laughable to anyone who actually knows anything about the sport. China has the art of table tennis down to a science. Their clone army is trained from young to be totally mindless soldiers of destruction at every school in the nation, and only the best of the best make it into the national team. Those who fail to get in are still so good that they get poached by other countries around the world and offered citizenship just to play for them. Anyone who is not a China born trained clone soldier is second rate, even talented local players in countries which have adopted China players. That's the reality of Ping Pong.
Well, I guess I'll ask if anything really becomes complicated in terms of the characterization?
I assume the romance angle will be like everything else, where they can't hook up because of manga-itis, but beyond the typical sports arc (where they inevitably lose before they can win), what else does he go through?

Oh, so they made a card game anime but with a female protagonist. It's like if the HapCha characters grew up!
Visited the shrine seen in The Eccentric Family yesterday:
As non-tourist-y you can get. Not even any signs in English there.

I could spend several days just going to shrines and looking at the architecture. The way they build them on tiers for earthquake protection and stability, and in such a different way from anything else.

There's like shrines and temples on every second main street here in Kyoto. Can't go far without bumping into one![]()
I just straight paused episode 21 of accel world cause some straight up tekken tag tournament was on the screen right now, the real shit. This is so surreal.
