What could Microsoft show at E3 to finally get you to buy an Xbox One?

exclusive games which are NOT FUCKING MILITARY SHOOTERS/FPS.

Oh, this won't help.

There are lots and lots of people like yu out there, professing the "Microsoft has just shooters" mantra all around.

Forza is not a shooting game.
Fable is not a shooting game.
Quantum Break is not a shooting game.

And so on, yet they are invisible to people like you.

Same for the Xbox 360 era, eh! Very same attitude.

Or Sunset Overdrive. Or Below. Or D4.

If MS shows that they are buying Nintendo and Sony and then canceling the production of the 3DS, WiiU, PS3, PS4, and Vita, then I would consider buying the X1.

Me, game wise they don't have much yet... Halo 5 is the biggest thing they have upcoming to tempt me to get one. They have stuff like Quantum Break which is interesting too, but not enough to make me buy an X1 for.

At E3, having a cheaper slimmer X1 would push me more towards it (without a power brick), don't really care of they include kinect or not, as long as the price is ls reasonable with it (Looking at £300 for X1 really) and I think it's only fair they take a hit on kinect at this moment, I don't see much justification for including it as of yet.

Maybe making live cheaper too or giving it more value, removing pay walls all help too.

Exclusives are what they need more of too, but at this point I may be fine with with just Halo 5/Quantum Break if the price is right. (And Halo 5 is good)

What they need to do is find a way to drop than "COD box" or "Titanfall box" or "Shoot-em-up box" label. PS4 doesn't have any type of label on it at all, other than some given to it by detractors, and it's only been beneficial so far.

As for what it would take for me to buy an Xbox One, probably only a big name multiplat going exclusive, or some kick-ass new exclusive that became ultra popular that I couldn't resist. After you choose either the PS4/XBO, the value of the other goes way down, as it'll probably only be used for exclusives. I just don't see the value in paying the extra $60 for XBLG, especially since the value is so poor compared to PS+ with the IGC. You'd be better off going with a Wii U/Handheld/PC as a second console.

What I find here a lot is the strong emphasis on multiplat performance when last generation it did not stop people from buying inferior performance at all, especially when trophies came on the scene.

Worked for me, we had 2 x Ps3 and we bought 2 x 360's for the house, and primarily played the multiplats on 360...did not go back to ps3 much, used as a media player..

Trophies, points, score, don't care, to me bad visuals, frame stuttering and TEARING (god I hate tearing) made me switch.

I see XB1 games doing the same sins, and no way am I going back to that....

Nothing. I already have a console of choice for this generation, and I'm not buying a second one. Maybe next-gen, if Microsoft takes a few notes from what made the PS4 successful and designs their new console accordingly.

Nothing. I feel like I'll be good with just the PS4 this gen. Having had a 360 and PS3 was kind of redundant for the few MS exclusives I enjoyed.

An unrealistic combination of

A brand new box with better hardware. So shit isn't 850-950p most of the time.
400$
No Kinect
A 100% redone UI
A guarantee that every single person involved in the decision to try that DRM shit has been fired or works on non xbox stuff at microsoft now.
No gold subscription

Honestly I can't imagine a scenario where I EVER buy a Microsoft console again after that horse shit. They might as well not exist

Same for all of their consoles quite honestly which are exclusives with the occasional multi-platform game to fill out my library. I am not expecting XboxOG and first half Xbox 360 level of exclusives because that's a damn high bar to set. When I purchase an Xbox One I am looking into copping D4, Killer Instinct and Sunset Overdrive so theoretically they already have a future purchase from me down the line.

My Xbox One is relegated to Twitch and YouTube at the moment. Gimme anything good. I don't care. Just don't fuck up Halo and Gears.

An apology for the time they tried to fuck us all over with DRM and 24 hour online checkins would be a good start. I don't think it's ever going to happen though; too much hubris.

Quantum Break is a third person shooter...

I dunno, there is a horrible aura around Xbox One that makes it more unappealing than just specs. Even a new Halo kinda has me non pulsed and I love most of the series. Wait and see for me but I struggle to even consider it at this point and my line of thinking is, drastically cheaper slim version, consumer friendly policy changes then games which shows it's not really on my radar until it's dirt cheap, maybe it feels wrong supporting Microsoft's console. The PS4 doesn't interest me either right now. Not feeling this generation at all.

If I'm completely honest, at the moment, nothing.

It's going to take a couple years worth of exclusives to make me jump in at this time.

To be honest just getting some of those promising looking games they announced last E3 out and with a good to great reception would be enough to me, even if not right away. Though a price drop would be very welcome.

Reduced price
Kinect-less SKU
Shenmue 3

I'm gonna get it eventually anyway but any of these would make me stop considering the PS4.

Not much. One game, however amazing, won't make me get the console. It and the PS4 are too similar game-wise, with the PS4 being the better piece of gaming hardware and thus guaranteed to keep getting the better multiplat versions. I also personally vastly prefer Sony's exclusives over MS's. Give me an Infamous or an Uncharted or a Last of Us or a Motorstorm (well, now Driveclub) or a God of War or a Team Ico game (haha, right) any day of the week over something like Halo, Gears or Forza. So yeah, it would take A LOT to make me feel like it would be worth owning both consoles when I already own the better of the two.

There is absolutely nothing Microsoft could do to interest me in an Xbox. There was no reason for me to own even a 360, which is significantly better than X1.

At this E3 there's nothing they could do. Maybe in five or six years time if they steer this ship right. I think that this E3 might be a decent barometer of that. But then Xbox 360 was great at the start of the generation but got worse. Sooooo it seems very possible to me that the same thing will happen to Xbone and it won't be worth buying then either.

I honestly don't think they could do anything.

They've lost my trust.

I forgot to mention this as well. The way they wanted to fuck everyone over still leaves a real bad taste in my mouth.

'd honestly rather re-buy a Wii U at this point than an Xbox One and E3 will most likely not change that.

Nothing.

It's like someone telling you "hey, I wanted to rape your sister and kill your family but now I don't want anymore, let's become friends."

Not going to happen.

KOTOR 3 lifetime exclusive. That would literally make me go out and buy a Xbone the instant it gets announced

Loads of people used the PS3 as an exclusive machine last gen bro

Also, the difference was usually way smaller than now

On topic:
I've got so much shit to play on my Vita & PS4, I wouldn't have time for the Xbone anyway. So unless some gigaton like Fallout 4 exclusive drops, I probably won't ever get one. Don't think that'll happen though.

The games were still purchased. And if I recall the differences only started being marginalised later in the generation. You forget the pages upon pages of multiplat OT's, asking how the PS3 version performed. If the differences were minimal why the concern ?

Nothing. Not even a massive price drop. Not even some new IP that sounds awesome.

I'm happy with PC + 3DS + PS3/Vita. I don't have as much gaming time as I used to.
This is me. Now that's still a lot on my plate, so it's no surprise that I don't want to add to it. Though I do plan to get a Wii U towards the end of the year for Bayo 2, a PS4 eventually, and a replacement PS3 during the summer. Oh Gods, where's the money coming from?

As for OP's question, well, the only thing that could get me to consider buying an XBOne is lots of top-flight Sega exclusives - the same reason I still have a working Xbox in my closet. But we all know that's not happening, short of a hostile takeover by MS, so... :p

Nothing.

Whoa. Really, dude?! You actually thought that was appropriate. Just...wow.

Nothing right now, I'm not interested in having a second console yet, and I'm definitely not keen on supporting that company anytime soon after last year and the last few years of the Xbox 360. Really need to see how they act through the majority of a console cycle to be interested.

Isn't sunset overdrive and quantum break "shooters"? That genre needs to be defined, but I would say that if the game's mechanics heavily revolve around shooting, then its a shooter.

Games like Below and D4 interest me, I would need to see more games like that before I get an xbox. I'm a heavy RPG player, so I'm looking for those types of games.

Much like others, absolutely nothing will get my wallet cracked open for another console. I'm perfectly happy with my PS platform though my PS3 rarely runs anymore at all. WiiU was never on the radar and the xbone is such an all around failure of appealing to me at all. Say what you will but Indies are fun and PS has a good amount. Final Fantasy 14 on xbone? Hell no, Microsoft won't allow cross platform play. Same goes for War Thunder, whenever it gets a NA release. Planetside 2 is a Sony thing but Microsoft isn't doing anything like it. Netflix paywall is stupid. Games with Gold is a joke. I've only had my Plus sub a year and between all three of my PS I've received about 50 titles. Microsoft lets you keep their games, bfd. When I'm done playing something I'm usually done so keeping some old pos game offers me nothing when my sub runs out. That doesn't even include higher cost, worse hardware, parity BS, no flash sales, no subscriber discounts, or any other limitations Microsoft offers as features.

They announce they have bought Nintendo

But obviously i do not want that to happen, if anyone ever buys them let it be sony, but i doubt anyone will ever buy them

they dont need to do too much really...simply release some good first party games and give the pricepoint a bit of a sharpning

the 60fps and 1080p shit really needs to die in a fire quickly as most people who purchase an xbone dont give a shit about it and it wont be long before both consoles are sub 1080p with the stuff thats round the corner

as long as it offers a good gaming experience it will continue to be a successful console....just not up to ps4 levels of sales

A new Forza Horizon game, or Lost Odyssey 2. Can't see anything else enticing me - my motivation to get a Xbone is incredibly low and I'm one of those people who usually buys every console for the sake of it.

Nothing.

Are you seriously relating an always online system for a console which no one was forcing you to buy to rape and murder of your family?

Grow up.

Xbox One Slim model with Halo bundled would make me buy another Xbox One :)

Nothing.

I dont know. A megaton on the scale of something like PS4 just had with Project Beast then maybe. Then id have to get over the mental roadblock of paying for live as well...Honestly nothing MS has in their stable has really done it for me to justify me buying the one.

Halo became a drag after 3. Gears was meh to me. Fable was crap IMO. Not a big racing fan. I never finished Crackdown. This is coming from a 360 only owner hah

I didn't say the differences were always minimal. However I can't remember any games with a 100% resolution difference like we have now.

Anyway, I'll stop the thread derail now...
