PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | May 2014

For me, the deciding factor for getting a PS4 was when I had enough PS+ free games already lined up that I could buy the system and not feel like I needed to buy a game with it. But even still, I would currently rank my systems as Vita>=PS3>Wii U>3DS>PS4. Vita just has the perfect combination of games for me, I have lately been heavily into JRPGs, other japanese localizations, and indies. Once PS4 starts getting some real unique games it will see more play time from me, and FFXV will definitely do it. I mean, I'm the guy with a 110 hour save file and the platinum trophy in FF XIII, I can't imagine I won't enjoy FFXV as well, I've enjoyed every single FF game enough to complete it till now.

Speaking of, been meaning to try FF XIV, does anyone know if the "buy the PS3 version upgrade for free to PS4 version" still exists or was that only before the PS4 version launched. Just in case the PS3 version ever goes on a deeper sale than PS4 version or anything like that.

A lot of good stuff dropping today.

- Sportsfriends (PS3/PS4)
- TLoU DLC
- Whistleblower DLC
- Stick it to the Man

Is a great range of titles to play around with, imo. I'm also looking forward to whatever Atlus is teasing for NA PSN release today as well as GAFer impressions of MLB: The Show for PS4.

Broken Sword 5 looks good. I'm hoping it's no more than $5 per episode.

There are quite a few MLB (PS4) streams on Twitch. I'm personally not getting the game, but it looks amazing.

Broken Sword 5 is 2 episodes only.
It'll be priced either at $20 or $25.
Forgot how much I got it off GOG.com myself though >_>;

Didn't they tweet a wink/smile when asked that via Twitter? So it probably is
not
.

I'd be interested anyway, if the price is sensible. Played them all before, but would play them all again.

I always justify my sale purchases of $10 or less with lunch. At the hospital where I go to school, lunch is $5. So for a $10 game, I just make my own lunch for two of the days I would have eaten in the cafeteria and I don't feel bad about the game. Terrible line of reasoning, because I could have just made my own lunch and been $10 richer, but it works for me. Then there are golden week sales where I drop $50+ and have to just live with it!

So I saw in the drop that football manager drops today.

Do we have a price? Hope it's not $40 considering the actual fully featured game is $40 :/

Soundshapes DLC should be out today as well.

Agh my OCD will not allow me not to get DLC for this game, I need it to remain at 100% on my trophy list! God I wish devs would stop tying trophies to DLC... Ah well, I love SoundShapes, DLC will probably be worth it no matter what.

Did they really need to highlight that sometimes you can touch a screen instead of... pressing circle?

I wish games would completely do away with any touch-screen controls whatsoever, unless the game is entirely based around them.

I hate when they make me take my fingers off the buttons for arbitrary touch controls.

I can't even imagine playing a GOW game without dodging with the right analog stick. Gonna wait for that one, and if not, everyone and their mother have the PS3 disk.

It feels good when you actually try it. I never found the controls to be an issue in either Chains of Olympus or Ghost of Sparta.

Yeah, if I had a Vita I'd grab this as well. I've played BS 1-3 back in the day and really enjoyed it.

I still want DLC to have trophies. I just wish that the percentage for your own completion didn't change e.g. from 100% -> 90% until you downloaded the actual DLC so those that have no interest in it can maintain their 100% and their sanity; but that's a pipe dream :(

God, Muramasa is amazing. I'm really liking the game, it gets better and better as I learn how to fight properly. I'm at Chapter 5 on Momohime's parth and at Chapter 2 on Kisuke's one.

Are both stories stand alone, do you recommend playing the levels in some way or another?

Swords >>>>> Long Swords IMO :)

IIRC on the PSP games you have to press L (block) + left analog stick. It didn't felt weird.

The only homeconsole GoW that I've played was 1 though.

Speaking of where are those two for Vita?

What do you mean? Are you asking if there's going to be actual Vita versions of the games or are you just asking if the PSP games are playable on Vita? Because the PSP games are playable on Vita. At least in Europe anyway. They should be in the PSP section of the Vita store.

Alright, fuck the
alias
fight in gravity rush.

Just compounded on how fucking loose the combat is in the air. While I do like the looseness of it, this boss fight just makes it feel terrible by making the lock on so fucking ineffective because he moves so fucking much (he sometimes even skips frames of animation just when I'm about to hit the weak spot) plus the fact that dodge on the touchscreen just fucking sucks.

Its been so long since I've played GR that I don't even remember what boss fight you're talking about, but I do remember that I never really had any trouble with any bosses in the game. However yes, the combat mechanics are quite flawed and dodging being on the touchscreen sucked. I pretty much never used it. But then the combat was so overly simple that it wasn't even necessary to use it so it's not even that big a deal. They definitely need to rethink the combat mechanics for the sequel.

It's the
three headed dragon
fight. I just can't seem to connect most of my hits even though it was clearly homing in before.

The psp versions are available, I was talking about the origins collection that was on PS3 that added trophy support.

Titan Attacks, Transistor, Wolfenstein (not too sure about Watch Dogs yet). A damn good month May is turning out to be.
I really hope Transistor will be good. Bastion was something else.

Watch Dogs just looks fun. Even if it won't turn out as brilliant as some people had hoped, I have a feeling the freedom and unique gameplay wil make the game enjoyable.

Yea this would be my optimal solution, but having no trophies tied to DLC at all is my realistic solution!

I'm really surprised there hasn't been any more BL2 Vita videos or even screenshots yet. I'll post some as soon as I get my copy.

Dodging on the PSP GoW games was much better than the console ones. Taking your thumb of the face buttons in games like GoW is never a good let alone the better option.

Do we know what the framerate is for GoW Vita collection?

According to Destructoid not quite 60fps like PS3 version so expect framerate slightly better or equal to PS2.

I really wanted to buy a couple of games from the sales they had this week, but for some reason I can't buy the PSN codes from Amazon(outside of US and I put a US address in the billing address). Does anyone know a trusty website where I can buy some PSN codes?

More Vitabros (and Vitacats?) Incoming. We might be able to reach the lighting fast speed of the Steam thread LOL.
Don't forget Vitamuffins.
