Gamespot rumor: Big third-party Xbox One exclusive at E3

AAA games this gen would cost upwards of 100mil per title.
Microsoft did the right thing imo with 3rd parties because the majority of sony's first party studio's closed down during the PS3 era
And if you think about it, Microsoft has always relied on exclusive 3rd party support
They have the most first party titles on the way in 2014
And what would you rather have, Titanfall or Killzone? That is our options
E3 is almost here, hopefully we all have more options by then

That is true about system sales, but I thought Xbox does better in software sales
If that is true, that is what developers care about the most. Systems sold is just something for console fanatics to talk about

Jesus. So much wrong here...

Didn't it turn out to be true last year with Dead Rising 3 though?

DR3 is Microsoft Studios game. Nobody expects a fully-published/funded game to not be exclusive to that platform.

The things that turned out true last year was Peggle 2, PvZ GW ( both timed ) and Titanfall. ( even this was timed for 13 months at first )

Wow there is so much bullshit here.

It's not like Microsoft gave Phil Spencer a blank check. As this gen goes on it's going to be more and more expensive for MS to buy exclusives, especially for major franchises.

There are plenty of devs out there that need money to make the games they want. As can be seen by layoffs and closures.

No one has said this, but what if it's MS ip given to a third party developer. Every body quick jump to negative. They prove last year they are willing to do that

Plenty of independent devs, yes.

But when we hear 'big 3rd-party exclusive', that implies successful franchise games that are already publisher-funded because they're safe investments, but made exclusive anyway.

MS can easily pay for the development of Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty on behalf of Ubi/Acti. But they won't accept MS's money, because by choosing to invest in development themselves, they get greater returns from a multiplatform install base.

Well some people thought big EA games like Fifa or Battlefield would have been Xbone exclusives. And now some people think it's gonna be GTA or Fallout or something as big. I personally think it's not going to be anywhere near as big those titles would be. Something like Dragon's Dogma 2 could be possible, and Capcom seems to have good relationship with MS.

Kid, looking through your post history you're pro-MS and you spout bullshit about Sony (as evidenced here). Give it a rest please, or take yourself over to the official Xbox forum.

Well, both consoles have shipped one exclusive FPS so far, and I think the vast majority of people would choose Titanfall if given the choice. If you don't believe me just look at the rage that occurred when it was announced as never coming to PS4.

An independent dev would be considered 3rd party.

Obsidian is a dev that would most likely gladly accept funding for a game they would like to make.

Instead of money hatting 3rd parties how about MS moneyhat themselves? Between Titanfall, the 400 million on the NFL deal and this they could of spent that money making like 20 exclusive 'AAA' games.

You should realize the difference. Games like Dead Rising 3 and Titanfall very well might not have come out were it not for MS helping with funding and helping development. In DR3s case, MS spent incredible amounts of effort in development by sending their employees to the office in Canada to help with dev.

So please, stop pretending like all they are doing is throwing money at games to keep them off of other systems, when in reality they are often helping to find and develop games that are stuck and need assistance. Not everything is that simple, so don't pretend to know what you are talking about.

Isn't Ruffian rumored to make X1 game

I don't think so. But we do have some extremely likely rumors that Doug Jones's company Cloudgine is working on Crackdown.

Brad Grenz said:
If MS wanted an exclusive for the Xbox One from them they wouldn't have cancelled the game they contracted them to make for the Xbox One like 2 years ago.

Or maybe they didn't want that game....

I guess all games are pretty much the same.

Kinda how they canned a bunch of Rare games but still had them make them other games...

Hmmm, maybe?...

January 25, 2014 - National Opposite Day

Guess not then.

E3 rumors are always so big and predictable, and general enough that there's no way to be wrong. "Console maker will announce third party exclusive game at E3"...

/cynic

Af least the turnaround on this rumor is just like a week.

But there are other options and other variables, not the least of which being that every multiplat FPS, both now and in the future, runs better on PS4.

He (and you by extension) made a really narrow argument to make a non-point.

I dont think itll be anything from capcom. DR3 made sense since DR1 was exclusive, never did well that well in japan, and DR2 did the best on 360 in the west even after being released on just about everything. At this point I see MS just keeping the IP but still leaving it with capcom like Gears back in the day. The rumored platinum joint sounds like the thing more likely to happen though its just a week we'll have to wait to find out.

I speculated they were previously but their big game is for a new publisher (their words) but they also said they were doing something linked to the "recent leaks" which happened around the time of the ntkrnl leak, so I wouldn't be surprised if considering their close relationship with MS if they were doing one of the Halo ports to XB1 (CEA, 3 or 4)
